Yes I applied today’s update 6-28-20 but 6-17 firmware was installed.
Hey Denali, is your 2020.06.17.0549 firmware in English, or Chinese? I too have this version installed but all of the pre-connect screens are in Chinese...Um, I cannot read Chinese!

Please advise. Thanks, in advance.

Yes it is and can’t be changed to English.

Ah, I see. Thanks for confirming!

I too have a 2017 GMC Sierra Denali and suffer the exact same malady that you previously described -- adapter works great, but does NOT work, if it is plugged into the USB port (in the console) at time of ignition start. Very frustrating. This product is so close to perfect, but that one really annoying issue really tarnishes the entire experience. The developers/engineers need to detect a GM product and then build a boot delay into the adapter, to allow the head unit to boot first. Then, the product would be stellar!

If the head unit boots first does that eliminate the 5 minute distortion ?

Every once in a while if I open my door for long enough (haven’t tried to figure out East time yet) it’ll recognize it before I start my traverse and then it will work.

You should try the 10 second usb power delay relay I have done and provided how too on this site. With this adapter my Carlinkit and CarPlay2air dongles connects every time the the truck is turned on. I no longer have to disconnect and reconnect the dongles or use the manual usb power switch.

it’s all done automatically.

And it's ok ;) just have a look at the version, not the file path:
Code:
filePath: /download/2020-06-28/U2W_Update.img
fileSize: 6358837
fileName: U2W_Update.img
version: 2020.06.17.0549
updateTime: 2020-06-28 14:42:27

updateLog:
1.Disconnect Carplay connection before upgrade
2.Connect iPhone to WIFI of the adapter (Password is 12345678)
3.Don't power off or interrupt during the process
4.Please wait for the device auto restart
(When updating, the light Alternate flashing)
Hi
I tried to update today with no luck, when I press update 3 sec after I get “update failed” screen and then reboot option.
Anyone successful updated ?

Hey Carl -- I haven't observed the dreaded 5-minute distortion thing. Can't comment on that. Denali, do you have a 5 minute issue?

Yeah, I have seen your post about it, in my travels here. Need to revisit that, to see if that's something I think I can accomplish. You are a bit more of an intrepid electrical engineer than I. Can you recall what page of this forum you outlined that on?

On my Carlinkit USB-c on 6-19-20 firmware yes I have the 5 minute distortion. On my CarPlay2air on Firmware 3-6-20 I don’t and works perfect.

Hmmm, I see. I have CPlay2Air, not Carlinkit. I am on 2020.06.17.0549. Do you have a link to the 2020.06.19 firmware for CPlay2Air?

Thanks for the link to page 74!

Do you have a link to where I can buy that exact relay?

I purchased the carply2air about a month ago and it currently has the 6.17 firmware. So i guess i have to live with this five minute issue until they create a firmware that works.

I updated the software yesterday (it took me 5 times to figure out how to install it. But once I go it installed, it works SO MUCH BETTER than before.

Do you also have a link to the 2020.03.06 firmware anywhere? I wish there was a repository of these, offered by the seller...is that too much to ask?!?!

Unfortunately I found if you update to 6-17-20 you can no longer downgrade the firmware. It’s like they added code to the bootrom to check the current firmware and not let you install if it’s older firmware. So going backdown to 3-6-20 is not possible.

If you download the firmware 6-24-20 and manually install it. It actually installs 6-19-20 firmware.

Ugh, I see. So no hope of going back to 2020.03.06 then. Darn. Is 6/19 better than 6/17 in any discernable way?

Again, which relay is that exactly? Where did you procure that? Do you have a link? Does Amazon sell it? I want to take a stab at creating that delayed power harness!

If I was you and you don’t have the 5 minutes sound distortion. I would not update anymore and keep it as is. I’m only messing with my Carlinkit usb-c because it has that problem. Everything else works great.

I’ll post links to Amazon relay and switch later today.

all the links are actually on the post.

10/4 -- makes sense. Though I hate the Chinese screens... I really want those in English.

I found this relay on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3eJ8arV It's 30amp. Does that sound right?

No that is not the right one. You need one that has a 10 second time delay.

This one.

iJDMTOY (1) 10-Second Time Delay Relay Module, 5-Pin 12V 30A SPDT, Compatible With Automotive Lighting https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779LN147/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_HHI-Eb5TFQAPG
Fantastic! Thanks, Denali. All parts ordered and I'll report back after cobbling that harness together. Really appreciate all of your help.

Would love to see how you got that harness tucked up in your console, if you can share that...

I have CPlay2Air. Since December, my CPlay2Air would drop the connection and I had to turn off the CPlay2Air AND shutdown my car. Now it is working exactly as it should.

So which firmware are you running, exactly? Is it Chinese or English (the connection screens)? Do you have a link to download it?

Anyone have success on updating through OTA? I have a Car2playair branded version (not a USBC). My car is a 2020 Corolla Hybrid. My steps are turn on the power, when the screen pops up to connect to my phone I hit cancel. I then manually connect to the wifi of carlink. I go to 192.168.50.2 and see the instructions to disconnect carplay, connect to the wifi, etc. I hit update Now and get to 90%, the display screen says updating and then I get a message Update Failed with a Reboot screen. There's also some numbers/letters in the bottom right, I'm not sure what those mean. I'd post but I don't know if its an error code or something specific to my device that may compromise me.
