I am on 6/17. The last email i sent to support was that if they could supply me with one with the 3/6 firmware i would send mine back. Still waiting on a reply but i assume it will be one of their scripted emails that does not answer anything.
EXACTLY! Well said. Their email support is a joke. They have never ONCE responded to anything I commented on or asked. It's always completely unrelated.I am on 6/17. So, 2020.06.17.0549 is all good for you, Simps? You do NOT have the 5-minute audio distortion issue?
Ah, I see. Yeah, I did the same thing -- after getting 2020.06.17 flashed on my adapter, I just tested a few other things and just assumed that I was all set. But then I was out driving later that day, and sure enough, about five minutes into listening to songs via the music app within CarPlay, the audio quality degrades, into what sounds like a garbled/distorted signal. Pausing and playing again resolves it...for five more minutes. Totally aggravating. Never had that issue before the June 2020 update. Please do test and see if this bug got introduced into your system as well and report back, I'm sure we'd all like to hear if Fords are suffering it too. It may be just a GM issue -- just not sure yet.I’ve never actually noticed any audio distortion so not fully familiar with the problem - I’ll give some tests and see have any issues after 5 minutes- I only tested for a few mins earlier after checking the update solved my initial issue.

I really hope they simply come out with a 2020.07.04.1776 (see what I did there?) that solves ALL of these issues (but selfishly, particularly the 5-minute audio bug). It is totally within their power to do so -- it was fine before.
I just really wish they were way more transparent about the status of firmwares and their releases. I get that they don't want to put a page on their website even talking about firmwares, as that might scare off potential new customers, but man, they gotta do something. We're all like a bunch of mushrooms -- they keep us in the dark and their tech support feeds us nothing but bulls**t!
Further update from above - after going around in the same loop for 10 mins or so I gave up and left it on the “activate success” screen for 15 mins or so - thought I’d hit reboot again and to my surprise it all worked... this thing is weird wonder what will happen tomorrow!
@BUXjr - been listening to audio now for around 20 mins and not had any distortion - am on fords Sync 3.4.
Thanks for the report, simps. And very glad to hear it all came around for you and is now working. I'll admit, I feel like I had to loop that "activation" step a couple of times as well, before it started acting like it was activated for me. There is something amiss in there... But all is well that ends well. I bought a used Carlinkit 2.0 USB-A adapter. Unfortunately, it has the problem that it will not start Carplay and the blue light is on. The Carlinkit adapter from a colleague works perfectly.
What should I do to use the adapter with the blue light? Is it the best solution to make an update? Do you have the link to the version that should work? Thank you!
Unfortunately, an update is not possible. I tried 2 USB sticks that were formatted with FAT but the light is still blue and did not change to red.
What else can I do to make it usable?
What firmware are you trying to flash onto it? Also can you provide info on you car/truck? Make, model and year.?
I have a Mercedes C-class from 2020. I tried the 17th June as well as 24th June.
Never heard that carlinkit works with MBUX.Your friends adapter works on your 2020 Mercedes? If so what firmware is there adapter on?
Never heard that carlinkit works with MBUX.
The C-Class does not have MBUX. The adapter from my colleague has the firmware from March 2020.
I am afraid that it’s all GM vehicles. I have it on my 2018 Cadillac XT5 too. They need to fix this ASAP.Thanks for the report, simps. @2018 Denali -- I fear you may be correct. Which is a total bummer! Why us? The CPlay2Air website clearly states that ALL GMC 2016-2019 vehicles are supported if, "*Vehicles must come equipped with factory CarPlay". Which ours do. We know it's a firmware issue because it used to work fine, in previous firmwares. They've broken something and now they need to fix it! There is no excuse for not releasing a new firmware to resolve our issue, or remove the downgrade/rollback block. They can't leave us in limbo, with broken $150 adapters, that are advertised to work in our vehicles.
Is it just Denali and me? Anyone else have the 5-minute audio issue as well? Sorry if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I am curious if this is exclusively a GM issue. Are there any other vehicle makes out there that are suffering this? Please sound off if you are in the same boat!
sounds like your adapter you just bought off someone has a firmware from June 2020 that doesn’t let you update or downgrade with USB method
manually.
Or is it possible that my adapter is bricked f.e. due to a update that went wrong? Is there a chance to wait for a July update and try to update it?
CarPlay2Air failed abysmally in my 2019 Miata RF, after I was assured it would work. They were of no help making it work, and they made a return difficult and expensive. Stay away from them.Hi folks,
Was anyone able to get either CarLinkIt or CarPlay2Air to work with a Mazda Infotainment? (2018 and above).
I have purchased the CarLinkIt and tried with my car, it's not working. Also tried upgrading it... Continues to crash CarPlay on the infotainment which also reboots.
I contacted the CarPlay2Air folks who assured me their solution is working with the Mazda. Puzzled considering it's the same hardware & software.
Feedback appreciated.
I have the sound distortion issue on my Audi Q5 ever since I updated to 17.06. Before that I was on the March firmware (can’t remember which exactly, sorry) and everything worked fine except Siri cutting off eg. ”Playing all songs, shuf—“. Was hoping the 17.06 fixed this (it didn’t).The 5 minute sound distortion issue seams to only affect GM cars/trucks. But if any other brand is doing it please let’s us all know.
