CarPlay CarPlay adapter to convert to wireless CarPlay?

This thread has info on updating the dongle using a USB stick. See the first post.
You'll need a U2W_Update.img firmware file to load to the USB stick. Firmware from 6/17 or 6/19 seems stable for folks.

This link is used to download the .img files. Change the date in the URL to point to different folders.
However, it appears neither the 2020-06-17 nor 202-06-19 work anymore.

In the US, same exact experience. I received my unit yesterday and was attempting to upgrade to 2020.07.01.1234 and also saw it hanging at 90% no matter what I tried. Went to give it another go this morning and now see the same message and upgrade-to version that nightmare28 posted.
 
I just shake my head everyday at how they can just keep throwing crap fw's out randomly that fail and brick devices. Unassuming people think "there's an update, that's a good thing". Really pisses me off.

If it ain't broke don't fix it

Ok, was a fail from me, to not read the first post :)

Cheers for the help, but is there a way to get the Firmware Image?
Like u said, the downloads dont work for me, also the stock firmware from 2019-12-09 cant be downloaded from carlinkit homepage.

Which FW version do you want I may have it backed up.

Under no circumstances do I take any blame, this is just a link for you to try if you want. I’ve just download from the links above when available and/or from users on here.

The newest version 2020-07-16 is posted above though if you want to try with that

Stuck since yesterday update on my Ford Sync 3 Infotainment system.
Carplay connexion ok but not more display...

Same here with Ford Sync 3, but here blue LED is blinking always and BT connection on iPhone just 2 seconds connected then disconnected:(

But I think we need 06.16 Version?!

i stuck in my usb, powered via a usb plug as per the guide.

My lights flash alternating red / blue for a while, then solid red only. I waited for a further 3 mins & saw now change.

The dongle still works in my car - but the available update still shows ???

is there a way to see the current firmware running on the device that I’ve missed somewhere?

Your help is very much appreciated.

You successfully flashed the firmware via USB. That's what the light patterns you saw indicate. It alternates red/blue while flashing and gives a solid red light once it's complete.

Even though newer firmware may be available via 192.168.50.2, I really suggest avoiding flashing anything via that method for now. If the adapter is working in your car, leave it alone for the time being.

For Ford Sync, you should flash the 6.19 firmware. I am running that one and it's working pretty well with Sync 3. Here are some more detailed USB flashing instructions I wrote up earlier:

I'm not sure anyone can give you 100% assurance which version you should update to. From reading posts here, some people have bricked theirs flashing by USB, but also some have bricked via OTA. So no matter what you do, there is some risk in bricking your adapter. That said, I think most people...

Yes I use CarPlay2Air adapter and Apple Carplay.
CarPlay2Air pluged in my car, then I pluged the usb key with firmware to it.
Screen show udpate infos, wait until it say "succes"

However, there does not appear to be a file to download at the 2020-07-17 folder. So...?

Has any one actually gotten their hands on 2020.07.17.1459? Or is it vaporware?

ok thank you! I will not do any update. I tried to contact carlinkit via Facebook messenger, maybe they will give me a solution. I will update you on any news/information how to solve this problem...
 
I took the chances on my wife’s car today. I have 7.17. Volvo XC90. Seems to work fine

But I’ve got an normal USB stick no flash but I think this will be ok.

So I will try but I’m unsure if I should wait for hopefully another update from CarPlay2air to fix the problem that always the blue LED is blinking and no BT connection.
 
I have the Carlink USB-C and a 2017 Cadillac XT5. I am in USA. I have both the audio distortion after 5-8 mins and the delay issue. I've corrected the delay issue with the relay fix. Latest firmware still has audio distortion.
 
There’s a 2020-07-16 link, wonder if this is the OTA 2020-07-17 one it’s pointing to?

What does your version say on your phone when connect, as in version and info
 
I just updated my both devices:carlink USB-A and USB-C without any problems OTA on 2020.07.17.
On my „old“ USB- A safari shows 100% ok.
On the new. USB-C safari stays at 90% - but carlink restarts and a safari refresh shows 2020.07.17.
