Was your unit totally bricked like mine? As in, no lights at all?Yes 👍

Understood. Thanks. I'll give it a shot. What could it hurt?! You're da man, Denali!I didn’t see any lights on it but I was stuck couldn’t get it to be seen in the truck and not broadcasting Bluetooth Not sure if it was bricked or acting up. So I used my CarPlay2air that had 3/6/20 on it to show me an update then updated it to the current firmware at that time using this method.

One more technical question: When we come back in the house, do we allow the iPhone to rejoin my home WiFi? Or should we switch WiFi off?Hopefully it works for you👍
I know 192.168.x.x (like 10.x.x.x) is non-routable on the web, so I assume the iPhone will look through the lightning cable for this IP?
So, it is safe to assume when you turned off your truck, the iPhone disconnected from your working adapter in the truck, and then reconnected to your home WiFi, when you went inside, no?I was home when I did it. I didn’t turn wifi off on the phone.
Just don’t refresh the safari page keep it open till you press the update tab.

Got it, on the no-refresh.
Thanks, I have two bricked USB-c devices both show no lights. I don’t quite understand how it will find 192.168.50.2 if it cannot even be seen via BT let alone Wi-Fi. The 192.168.50.2 address will only be accessed if you are connected via BT / Wifi to the dongle, if we can’t get there it won’t load the page. Since it’s essentially trying to access that page over 4G or your home Wi-Fi. Unless you’re saying you need a third perfectly working unit to get to that page, and then go inside with the bricked unit, plug the bricked unit into the power supply, then use your USB-A to lightning cable to piggy back the iPhone to the device and then force it download (via home Wi-Fi or 4G).Try this on your bricked unit.
1. With your truck on and wireless CarPlay running search 192.168.50.2 it should show you the firmware update to 8-4-20 on your phone. Keep this page open.
2. Connect the bricked unit to the wall power brick.
3. Connect a iPhone/iPad lightning cord to the bricked unit.
4. Connect your phone to the lightning cord.
5. Now press the update firmware tab on safari on your iPhone screen and let it go through the process.
6. This worked for me on my Carlinkit usb-c once when I couldn’t get it to do anything.

So 7-29-20 has been working great on my Carlinkit USC-c I feel better then 3-6-20 as it also now auto connects if it disconnects due to Radio frequency interference. No audio issues after a week of use.
I actually updated my CarPlay2air from 3-6-20 to 8-4-20 OTA to test it. It has also been working great I’ve done a couple 2 hour drives with out any issues on my GMC Sierra.
Thank you for confirming. I went back to the link for 7.29.2020 firmware you posted a week ago but it was dead, any chance you have a link to where I can download and flash?
Thanks that would be great!BUXjr has a working Carlinkit dongle so he was going to check for firmware update on the working one. Then try to bring the bricked one back to life with this method.
I just did an OTA on my USB-C from 7.29 to 8.04...no problems encountered.
I did it before leaving home this morning for work. No problems noted during commute. I'll do my wifes one tonight....Please post if you notice any differences.
I have also done OTA on my USB-C from 7.29 to 8.04 without any problems. Music Track changes feels much faster on 8.04 with iOS14.
Thanks, I think I am going to give it a go.I have also done OTA on my USB-C from 7.29 to 8.04 without any problems. Music Track changes feels much faster on 8.04 with iOS14.
Done, track changes are definitely faster on 8.04 vs 7.29 with iOS14.
Well, again, I'll be a blue-nosed gopher. This actually worked! I have a resurrected CPlay2Air unit now!Try this on your bricked unit.
