Ooooooh... now that is strange. It sounds like a firmware issue with your radio. Have you ever made it in to see if there are any new versions available?

Apparently there is, nothing specific thought, there is just “an update”

Trouble is Vauxhall won’t just update for free, unless specific issue. I’ve found someone online who can do it, for a cost, around £100, but doesn’t know what it will do.

If I knew it would sort it, I probably would, but it’s another cost, on top of the dongle, that isn’t guaranteed.

It’s listed under settings>general>CarPlay, I can connect to the server 192.168.50.2, although sometimes drops.

No one I know has same car, even on here I’ve asked to see if my car system firmware/software is different.

I know, I've been watching you for a long time on here. Did vauxhall by chance give you a revision number on that update? I might be able to look it up and see what it updates.

I was told by an independent that there was some updates via my VIN, says doesn’t say what fixes/adds etc just that there is an update.

If I could find a similar model to test would be good, then at least I’d know

My version is 84156714 as seen below. Do you work for Vauxhall?

No, I don't. They'd probably hate me as much as GM itself would. All firmwares and programming for GM vehicles are available to the public, with an appropriate ODB-II tool and server account. I'll have to look, but I think I saw Vauxhall on the server list as well.

Thanks for looking, wouldn’t be confident on me doing it, maybe the independent uses this method.

The other excuse maybe to Vauxhall is I could say my car unit keeps crashing and been advised to get an update from Vauxhall? Not sure if that’s a valid reason, and if they’d do it for free though.

Thanks

I told my Jaguar dealer once that my bluetooth kept crackling/disconnecting.......it didn't, but was updated for free :p

Used this excuse with ford in the U.K. to get a free update too - I’d be surprised if Vauxhall wouldn’t.

What did you say was wrong? I can’t find anything online for a common problem that I could say was happening to mine for a update.

Think he was conferring on " bluetooth kept crackling/disconnecting "

Yeah sorry that was it - said it was an intermittent issue and had tried different phones - they said there was probably and update and booked it in and did it - Took a couple hours.

The Carlinkit 2.0 has a lot of promise for me. I am still having problems with the Caddy ATS and the Carlinkit connecting when the car is started. It has never worked (which is the whole point). If I unplug the dongle and replug it then wireless CarPlay will connect.

With that said, I've been in contact with them via WhatsApp and they have been responsive, actually, which is not what I expected out of a Chinese company. I even exchanged messages to them in real time, which is great. They suggested some things (which I did because due diligence and crossing the T's and dotting the I's). I finally uploaded log info with the latest build and a description of the problem at their request. So I'm hopeful that they'll get it sorted out.

But I'm guessing that there is a delay/retry situation needed as it seems like the Carlinkit is trying to contact the head unit and it's not ready and it just doesn't try again. Considering wired CarPlay connects correctly at start, there's no real reason why the dongle shouldn't do it as well.

But what I'm wondering is if anyone else see's the odd display differences between the wired CarPlay and the connection through Carlinkit? It's as if the resolution through Carlinkit is smaller than the actual screen size and the button surrounds are visible where in wired they are not visible. I'll have to screenshot the differences and post.

If you read the thread the delay issue is a known issue with GM vehicles and several people have built time delay relays using different methods to make it connect every time. You need a 10 to 15 second delay.

Anyone knows the difference between normal and compatible sync mode in the new settings section? I think they should explain a little more what are this options for.

If I put it in "compatible" mode, I have problems refreshing the song information. In "normal" mode without problems.

One thing that I find a bit annoying is that the interface of the screen shows highlighted “buttons” and one of them always is in blue color, if I leave the CarPlay interface for let’s say checking the settings of the car, manipulate A/C or if put reverse in which case the screen shows the parking sensors and then go back to the CarPlay screen, the highlighted blue changes to the next button as if I were scrolling a click wheel to choose the different options in a non-tactile CarPlay interface. When I connect my iPhone wired to the car this “buttons” don’t show up because in a tactile interface don’t make any sense.
I think Carlinkit should give us the option to choose between tactile and non-tactile interfaces.
This happens to me with the usb-c model and a Peugeot 5008.
I wonder if this is happening to you in other car models.

Just updated my CPlay2Air to VER:2020.08.10.2151 and so far so good. Successfully upgraded. Audi A4 B9 model.

Is there a website to make settings changes? Seems to read it on the 192. URL before upgrade.

It’s on the 192.168.50.2 url - once there press the 3 lines bottom right to access them.

The blue highlights have been there since inception. Frankly there are bigger fish to fry for the development team. It’s mostly a visual annoyance. I actually like them because my Maserati has a scroll knob, so I know where the cursor is.

Yes, I get that there are more important issues than that and for cases like yours that is a useful feature.
In my case everything is working fine aside from this little annoyance.

That's great news. Consider yourself lucky that all is working well besides this. Same for me.

This would seem to be more of a bug in CarPlay itself as opposed to the adapters, as it happens EXACTLY as you describe on my Pioneer DMH-C2550NEX (installed in a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LT) when using wired or wireless CarPlay - with or without my CP2A or Carlinkit modules installed.

Incidentally, you answered my silent question as to whether or not it was being caused by my iDatalink Maestro interface.

Doesn’t happen for me when wired stock and most others. Maybe an aftermarket Pioneer issue.

Hello, I have the Carlinkit model U2W-01-PLUS according to the picture. I think I have managed to update the firmware to U2W 2020-08-10 using a memory stick. The problem is that I am stuck with it saying I have to activate it.
I have a Volvo XC40 2021 and iPhone X. I can't get it to update online and I can't use it, until I get pass the activation.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

I'd say yes, but as far as I am aware, jfresu is using an OEM radio.

What is really interesting is that I have contacted iDatalink about the exact behavior seen by me and jfresu (although they hadn't posted yet) and they are unable to reproduce it on any of their pioneer test units when using wired CarPlay. I also reached out to Pioneer, but they have never responded.
