Did you update with this patch with the dongle connected to the car och using a power plug?
Does this small patch remove the need of activation?

Well, initial CarPlay had all those button and was very clunky looking, I was stoked when the button surrounds finally went away and presented a much cleaner interface. So, it just feel like going back in time. Plus the weird highlighted button that seems to change for no known reason to other buttons, it's just... So anyway, to answer your question, probably some of both. o_O

Have you tried Ios14? CarPlay is upgraded.

How do you communicate with the carlinkit guys? I just get no answer with whatsapp. Still trying to get help with my MB A-class. The dongle still loses connection all the time. Tried all versions, iphone X on iOS 14 beta 5.

I am in exactly the same situation, I am desperate ...

Thanks, I have tried that one. Still stuck at activation. I have been in contact with Carlinkit, provided them my log. Said they will get back with a account and password to activate. Hopefully that will work.

I have a Carkink adapter with USB-C in version March 2020. OTA says there is no update.

To which version should I update via USB? 2020.06.16? Or directly to July or August?

Hi, I had some problems with the regular USB version, basically it wouldn’t connect about 50% of the time, and I would have to unplug it and plug it again, sometimes several times. I see that there is a “new” USB-C version, any chance it works better? Should I give it another go with that version?
Also, I’ve heard that iOS 14 somehow works better with this, is this right?

FYI - I tried updating the adapter OTA to the lastest update in my Kia Rio 2018 with the engine running. Everything went through fine, it showed a success message with a reboot button for about 1 second on the cars screen, then went black. It's now bricked.

So in my experience updating via USB (worked without issues for me for the last 2 updates) is definitively the safer way to go - I use a 16GB Intenso stick and a 12W iPad Power Adapter.
Luckily I bought the thing on Amazon and I'm still within the return window.

What is your vehicle? You might want to try the delay timer that had been discussed here extensively and see if that helps. There is a chance that your dongle boots up faster than your head unit and maybe that's what's causing the problem.

Has anyone got this to work in a 2019 or 2020 Jetta with 6.5 Composition Media? I just assumed it would as it worked flawlessly in my old GTI (w/8” screen). Really bummed I get absolutely nothing upon connection. Just like my Malibu. 😲

I'm constantly getting a "HARDWARE ERROR: Wi-FI" screen on my XC90 with an iPhone XS. Both work perfectly fine. If I unplug the CarlinkIt unit and plug it back in, the connection usually works. Usually, not always. It happens I'd say 50% of the time, so it pretty much makes CarlinkIt unusable for me. I've unpaired and paired back, I upgraded to latest firmware, 2020-08-10, same results. Anybody has the same issue?

I have a question about the update of the Carlinkit USB-C adapter. The adapter has first a red light, then it is off and then it is red. Does that mean flashing was succesful? Or how is the light combination with the USB-C adapter? Thanks your your support!

Doesn’t happen for me when wired stock and most others. Maybe an aftermarket Pioneer issue.

Reinstalled my Cruze's OEM usb cable using an Axxess USB A to Mini A adapter - no matter what I plugged into the usb cable, I would get an error message of No Response on the Pioneer's screen (adapter probably isn't wired right for GM vehicles). Switched back to the cable that came with the HU and now the issue of highlighted icons only occurs when using either my CP2A or Carlinkit units.

Go Figure.

There definitely has been a significant change in the firmware code. CP2A/Carlinkit devices with 2020.08.xx firmware can no longer be plugged into another CP2A/Carlinkit device as a work around for the track change issue.

No, haven't tried it. For things like my phone I'll wait for the 14 GM to upgrade instead of loading beta. As a QA Engineer, I deal with enough issues that my phone needs to be solid for the most part.

I had some back and forth with Carlinkit again. Sent them logs, it's a funny process of screenshots before sending the logs, perhaps because there are enough logs hitting them they are hard to find. They claim that they were able to get my logs and, presumably see what is happening?

What's funny is they said, "Try the online upgrade again," as if they recognized the problem and made a change for it and included instructions on how to upgrade (which cracks me up). But alas, no build ever materialized. So I pinged them back and said that my dongle always claims to have the latest version, am I doing something wrong. They replied, "have you successfully upgraded?" Uhm, no. LOL

Then they say, "Hello, our latest version will be released in 2-3 weeks, you can wait until then and try to upgrade online."

OK, so then I guess we should see a release in a couple of weeks. Hopefully with a few meaningful changes.

What is the best firmware for Mercedes? I have good experiences with 16 June but it restarts after a while. Any experiences on July or August firmware?

Edit: Support resolved the issue with the bricked device by supplying a download link to an updated firmware. That firmware was able to resolve the main problem, as well as allow the 2020.08.10 firmware to be loaded to the device.

I bought the U2W model (USB-C version link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086JN1SGX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

It worked great, the last successful version that would connect to my 2020 Tundra display was the 2020.07.17 firmware. They then released a 2020.08.04 firmware-fail, which basically bricked the device. It's no longer picked up by my stereo. Their support has ran me around in circles (I've tried Amazon emails, emails to their support, and finally with their WhatsApp number). Uploaded logs, screenshots, etc.. they never provide any useful solution. I got the:

"Hello there,
1. Due to the impact of COVID-19, global shipping rules have been changed, so we cannot obtain cross-international air waybill labels.
2. The latest version of our firmware upgrade will be released in 2-3 weeks. Would you like to wait?
waiting for your reply"

-- and other lame response; checked the device two days later and the 08.09 update was successfully installed, but the device is still a brick. Now it's stuck trying to install the 2020.08.10 release, which shows successful, but once it reboots, it says to update over and over (their support keeps insisting I update). Needless to say, I think they have some quality control issues on their firmware releases, and their support is pretty useless.

My advice, if you have a working device... Do not update. At least, do not update past the 07.17 release to the 08.04. The 07.17 firmware worked great for me. No lag other than the audio (which is normal, and honestly, expected). Booted up within seconds of the truck; and allowed both my phone and my Wife's phone to be saved. -- I'm kicking myself now for attempting to update (my OCD kills me, running unpatched stuff).

I'm pending a return acceptance on their side. However, they're telling me that due to COVID19 they're unable to provide a return shipping label, so it's on my dime to send it to China. I'm actually just ordering a second on on Amazon (prime, get it in a couple of days); and will work through the painful return shipping. - I might attempt to update the new one, assuming it's on a version earlier than 07.17.. If/once it is on the 07.17 release, I'm camping that probably until the device is dead. -- Nothing worse than trying to work with a support who only responds mid-night-to-3am, feels like they rotate your case every response to someone new, and you get absolutely nowhere except a bunch of canned copy/paste responses.

Unfortunately, it looks like you're not able to downgrade. I've tried downloading the one firmware I can find here (http://www.carlinkit.com/newsinfo/422758.html) following the guide and no joy (their support also confirmed no ability to downgrade). It just reboots back to the same updated version. Trying to comb through the page source code on the device, and piecing together a bunch of PHP code to attempt to get an updated firmware URL isn't looking promising either (too many dependencies rely on the device's information it has to POST).

I wonder, is there a Qi wireless charger near where the Carlinkit dongle is being plugged in?

that's my case. and it's true that I wondered if my disconnection problems could come from wireless charging. But I haven't tried to take it down. and I don’t think it came from there because Nikomank has the same issues with his class A and I don’t think he has an IQ wireless charger in his car?

Are you sure that 6,5 CM support carplay? Does wired carplay work?
