CarPlay CarPlay adapter to convert to wireless CarPlay?

It generally does connect whatever it connected to last assuming both are present . It will switch when you don't want if one of you leaves the car for a bit with your phone to store and leave your spouse behind....

You could try flushing all the car based bluetooth and carplay connections stored on the Palisade itself and see what happens.

Other notes: You might want to make a habit of putting phone on charger tray near the carlinkit. I could see that sometimes having the phone jammed in left or even right pants pocket perhaps additionally behind your wallet cutting down bluetooth/wifi strength enough to make the spouse phone the stronger signal to lock onto.

In my case I usually put my phone on the charging mat. The weird thing is that my wife will often be putting things in the boot of the car while I’m starting the car, and it still connects to hers. She has a newer phone than mine (new iPhone SE, vs. My iPhone X). I wonder if the hardware makes a difference. I do t have any car BT set up apart from the Carlinkit.

I *do* often notice the no internet through WiFi symbol on CarPlay on my phone though. Doesn’t seem to appear on hers. Could be related?

Now you have an excuse to get a 12:) Does it only happen near home? Maybe home wifi network taking precedence? Could wipe all bluetooth car play from car and both phones.

Notes: You can set set Iphone to not auto connect to Home wifi. Sometimes that interpheres. Also Apple does not really provide a way to priority choose wifi networks. Phone tries to do it automatically but it does not always get it correct.

1. Best place to buy a CarLikit 2 these days? Hopefully some option for those of us that prefer no to shop at amazon? Their own site is a lot cheeper, but has a pretty ludicrous return policy in the rare case of something going off the rails.

2. Why the dumb advertising of this as models for particular car brands or infotainment versions? I assume from what i have read that all the Carlinkit2.0 are exactly the same HW/SW beside the color options. is that still correct?

Never happened at home, only when we’re out and about. I’ll try forgetting the WiFi for the Carlinkit and see if that helps.

Waze keep crashing my unit . I did get a iPhone 12 pro on Friday and it started then . I’m confused ! Waze worked on my 11pm with this unit and now all of a sudden it crashes. I had to use Apple Maps and of course it got me lost so I switched to google maps ASAP !

I set forget home wifi, disabled car radio build in bluetooth pairing and also resetted the VW Discover Media Wifi and App Connect settings (set to Factory Default). Now my succes rate of auto connect (carlinkit to Discover media showing VOLKSW-E3B5 and then the auto connection to my iPhoen 11) has raised significantly last couple of days, not to say that it's 100% perfect yet. Audio delay of phone calls I did not test yet. Using 2020-09-23 version.

Checking in to see if there has been any progress for cars using Cadillac CUE working with Carlinkit 2.0? I have not seen anything in here specifically so I thought I'd ask.

Mine semi-worked, then stopped working after a firmware update and I was within my time-frame for return to Amazon so I sent it back. The intention is to order another one if I can confirm they are working in the CUE system.

I'm back on 2020.08.22 1441 (official) now and everything is very fine again!
2020.08.04 worked like crap in our Honda CR-V Hybrid 2019.
Now all is working without any single problem and VERY fast again.
I'll stay with this version (08.22) until Honda will update our CR-V and we will having problems back again.
Thanks for keeping this thread alive (i'll stay here) and MANY thanks for the help and all the files for downloading.

Many greetings from Innsbruck and stay safe all!

My wife confirmed it froze for second but went fine so far and it’s a big improvement...

Hi Habibi Jenkins, i’m in stock 2020.08.04. I have always reboot problems with my A Class. Can you tell me how you upgrade to vlud custom firmware please? apparently that made the connection of the carlinkit in your wife's car much more stable?

Amazon or Ebay generally offer "protection" I lean toward Amazon. Only buy carlinkit as there the OEM. Would suggest model with removable USB-c port in case you ever need to swap cable. There are only 2 models of wires to wireless carplay. The orginal hardwired abd the aforementioned usb-c one. Lots of things are sold by multiple sellers. Also some are shipped from USA and some from China. The former come in a few days the latter weeks.

Hi all,

I have a Pioneer AVIC-F77DAB Head Unit.
After testing many firmwares I have obtained the best results with the 2020-08-12 firmware. The reason is that this firmware allows you to define the value of the media delay variable. In my case the optimal value is 500.

@VLud : would it be possible to define the value of the media delay variable in your custom firmware?

September custom firmwares (and original firmwares too) already allow that modification from 192.168.50.2

I could swear that in October's official firmware it was not possible from 192.168.50.2
Regardless, thank you very much for the quick response

I am doing my first update to the firmware using VLud's FW. I am having an odd issue (seems like it to me anyway).

I formatted my 64GB Thumb Drive using Fat32 and copied U2W_Update_23092020.img to the root of the Thumb Drive

Plugged the Thumb Drive into the CarKit 2 USB-A end and the USB-C to USB-A into a iPhone charger and then to the wall. No LED on the CarKit even sitting for 5 minutes. I thought I had messed up the CarKit 2 so I went back and plugged it into my Ford Sync 3 without the Thumb Drive and opens fine but no update.

So the assumption ;-) was not enough power in the old school iPhone wall charger. So I decided to use my iPadPro USB-C and plugged the USB-C directly into the CarKit 2 with the Thumb Drive. Still no LED...

So I want to confirm my next step. I need to wait until I get home and find my Old iPad USB-A charging brick. Am I right or is something else wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Your problem is extremely simple to fix: rename your file to U2W_Update.img
That would definitely be an issue later I have renamed the file (and thank you for all your doing). However still no LED when plugged into a standard outlet USB-A wall adapter. No Red LED or Blue etc...

If you installed the 27/08 version the file has to be named U2W_SYD_Update.img, what is your current version ?

There is not a huge amount people can do in custom Firmwares. All the important files that do the Carplay stuff are binaries rather than scripts and we do not have the code behind them.

I have been having a play with the 192.168.5.2 website to get it to show more information (still work in progress) but all that can be done is pretty limited without the source code of FakeiOSDevice and others.
Hey fruitbat, have you found a fix for the blank screen bug when we last talked?

One thing that prevents wireless CarPlay is not having a GPS system built into the car. Another thing is not having Wi-Fi built-in to the car.

Are you saying that GPS and WiFi are required for Apple's own wireless CarPlay or are they both required for using this adapter also?
I'd like to use the adapter with my aftermarket Pioneer but it has neither GPS nor WiFi.
