If you installed the 27/08 version the file has to be named U2W_SYD_Update.img, what is your current version ?
Hello Vlud, thank you for modifying the firmware for us! I have been unable to get my CP2A to work correctly since updating beyond the march 6 update (3.06.2020). Unfortunately, the adapter wont let me downgrade before the 8.04 update. Would you be able to modify a firmware so that I can go back to the 3.06.2020 firmware? You have no idea how much it would help us facing the blank/black screen bug to be able to make our adapters work again. Someone posted the 3.06.2020 file on page 78. Thank you!

Stock that came with unit 2020.07.17.1459
Got it updated had to follow a different procedure using the car.

Delete the phone from the CarKit list
Delete the device from the phone Bluetooth connections
Unplug the CarKit from car
Plug it back in wait until the LED Turns Red and Insert the Thumb Drive
Wait 10 minutes
Removed the CarKit
Reinserted the CarKit and follow normal setup procedure.

I know this is not the normal procedure maybe it may help someone else.

Did anyone see this link? They say that is the source code of cplay2air or similar application.

45clouds / WirelessCarPlay

This is leaked Carplay SDK source coming from China. It looks like it is used in wireless Carplay USB dongles that allow Carplay use on Android head units which are popular in China. Probably these files are from one of manufacturer. Still trying to investigate them. Please look at README.cn that contains some explanation in Chinese.

Question for you guys.

When I use apple maps or google maps, there is no sound the radio continues to play. It works when my phone is connected direct however. Is this another BUG :*(

Using 8/22 firmware vw 2017 gti

If 9/23 works I would try it but need to make sure I can still go back to 8/22 since thats the only version I have found where text notifications kind of work.

Are you saying that GPS and WiFi are required for Apple's own wireless CarPlay or are they both required for using this adapter also?
I'd like to use the adapter with my aftermarket Pioneer but it has neither GPS nor WiFi.

No worries--they are not required when using this adapter. The adapter provides its own WiFi network that your phone joins to, and the adapter will use your phone's GPS signal.

Hopefully someone else with the same model/year can provide feedback.

MB does change hardware mid year on their vehicle. My previous 2016 GLA build before Dec 2015 didn't have CarPlay but the 2016 built after that did. My really 2018 GLA seems to have a different headhunt than the late 2018 loaner I got a while ago. So same model/year may behave differently.

Which unit did you get? Car2play or one of the other brand? Perhaps you can contact then and see if they can fix the issue. Or just return the dongle and call it a day.

EDIT: Maybe worth looking at what firmware version you're running on the dongle. Look at the first post in this thread for links and instructions. Also search for posts by VLUD, he's been looking into the firmwares and had customized a few of them available here https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireless-carplay-dongle-reverse-engineering

I Have tried every firmware posted in this thread. I have refund the dongle one time. Doesn't work. Always reboot after 2 minute. I have this https://www.nonsolomac.com/car-play/carplay2air-aggiunge-a-carplay-la-modalita-wireless.html

That's the same device as the carlinkit http://www.carlinkit.com/productinfo/356236.html

It could very well be that the head unit in your SLC won't work. If carplay2air can't provide you with a working firmware I would return it again and move on.

Put all the binaries and U2W.sh on the root directory of your USB Key on a unit with 20200804 custom firmware (19.10.2020.0001) and wait for the reboot, at the reboot you will be using 20200603 binaries which should fix your issue(s) :D

EDIT: Using older binaries seem to break product activation :( Try it to see if it is the same for you (you can always reinstall 20200804 to recover)

Thank you Vlud for your help! So I followed your steps and got my adapter to update/ install whatever files from 03.06.2020. When my adapter rebooted and I put it back into my car, it worked! No more black or blank screen on boot up.

But, now i've encountered the product activation problem. I have no idea how to activate it, how do I? Thank you so much for your help.

EDIT: So I also had to enter the wifi password, 12345678 in order to connect to NEX7D (CP2A adapter). But no option for bluetooth, which I assume is waiting for activation? I've got no idea what to try next. It also said the batch number it generated, 2061, is invalid...

I also created an account on the carlinkit website as someone mentioned around page 47. I entered the email and password I created from the website, but without a valid batch number, I can't continue.

I can tell I'm so close to figuring this out lol. I will update if I find anything.

You will need to try emailing sales@carlinkit.com and tell them you need to activate your adapter. They'll need a log (you send that from the 192.168.50.2 site) and make/model of your vehicle. They will send you the numbers to fill out on that screen.

This was the process for me back in Feb/March. But given that this was a flash backwards from newer firmware I'm not positive it will work, but worth a try if you must use March firmware.

Try to put that in U2W.sh

Code:
#!/bin/sh
echo "41cddf226dde1a01341ddb4eae9c480b" > /etc/uuid
echo "ALL_CAR" > /etc/support_car_type
echo "ALFA ROMEO,BMW,AUDI,MERCEDES,CADILLAC,PORSCHE,JAGUAR,LINCOLN,LAND ROVER,MASERATI,VOLVO,ALL_CAR," > /etc/support_car_brands

and reboot the dongle
Not sure it will work for you, it worked on mine

Okay, so I tried this 4 times and got the same result. After applying this code to the 03.06.2020 custom firmware, the adapter will not boot. Once I applied the code, the unit would brick until I manually flashed either your custom 08.04.2020 or the public 08.04.2020, which returned it back to normal operations.

So I repeated this process 4 times, install custom 08.04.2020 firmware, install custom 03.06.2020 files, insert custom code (from your quotations), unit failed to boot. I am certain I copied the code word for word. I had no problems installing the custom 03.06.2020 files, other than of course the activation problem. So this custom code did not work for me unfortunately...

I really appreciate your effort and will be buying you a meal after all of this!

I will contact them now and share what happens. I am using an aftermarket Pioneer MVH1400-NEX with iPhone XS Max on IOS 14.1. This will take awhile to hear back but I'll be sure to share anything I find.

Amazon or Ebay generally offer "protection" I lean toward Amazon. Only buy carlinkit as there the OEM. Would suggest model with removable USB-c port in case you ever need to swap cable. There are only 2 models of wires to wireless carplay. The orginal hardwired abd the aforementioned usb-c one. Lots of things are sold by multiple sellers. Also some are shipped from USA and some from China. The former come in a few days the latter weeks.
Yeah that all makes sense and is rhe stand advice i would assume, and ive been buying from amazing since day one, crazy thing is that not a single listing on amazin for this rwads clearly, many have descriptions that contradict themselves and while they say “carlinkit brand store” also list random branding.

knowing how many bad knockoffs there is, is there any way of knowing im getting the correct authentic item?
or do i just get it in a “fulfiilled by amazon” so then if it shows up and is subpar i can at least return it?

Amazon as seller or ships from is best option. I have not seen knocks off of Carlinkit. Just ship from China or ships from US, go with ships from US. Lot easier to do the USBc version less varabilty. Last I saw they were selling for around $115 sometimes with coupon sometimes without.

hi, so after my original carlinkit got bricked i have purchased another one this time the USB-C version. it came with the 08.04 FW. it works but im getting the same problem as on the previous version. waze and music hang the device when run simultaneously. it also often boots to the black screen (need to go back to the menu and choose apple car play and then it works).
can you tell me which is the most reliant FW i should be using? or shall i keep it as is for now?
I have a C-Class 2020

I have the black screen issue as well (Kia Rio, and USB-C Carlinkit on 2020-08-29).

Anyone in here that used to have the black screen issue but now doesn't have it anymore on another version?

Intermittent black screen is as noted elsewhere resolved by hitting car media keys most of the time (sometimes also have to choose car play after)...

-Simultaneous Waze and music (apple, amazon etc) you have to work around.

-Either use a different Nav app. Or minimize the issue. Keep Apple music or Amazon music in foreground 98 percent of time. Your directions still pop visually and voice directions are announced while in music. You can make brief trips back to waze if you need more info, just don't leave it there.

Lastly I have noticed a) make sure you have closed any logs you might have opened to send them,it takes up space, ram processing power. b) try not keep waze open on your phone. It does not cause issues all the time even with out music running but there are defeintely times having it running in both places is problematic.

For what it is worth I blame waze for the crashing its piggy on resources. Then again I blame apple for the black screen, lol.

@BUXjr these are the items that I purchased.

The 5V 60 second delay relay. I paid the extra the $2.75 for shipping and I got it in about 10 days:

The enclosure link. I had to purchase it with another delay relay however, it's a 12V relay so it won't work, the way we are trying to use it. I messaged the seller and he said I was unable to purchase just the enclosure.

The usb extension link through Amazon. I bought the 1.5ft one because I have a 2017 Tahoe and I have this behind the radio in the storage department plugged into the USB. If you are putting it in the center console and hiding it like @2018 Denali, you would need a longer extension:

Attached below are the photos.
Hello,

Can you please confirm the wiring for the delay harness you made? Red power goes to + on input end, and black goes to GND on input end. Red jumper goes from + on input end to COM on output end. Black jumper goes from GND on input end directly to black wire on far end. Far end red wire goes to NO on output end. Is this correct?
