What procedure/flashing etc did you do please. I’m in same boat, with a v1, iPhone 12 never worked , somehow did last week once, but came back to car next day and nothing.

Format 8GB pendrive using FAF32 file system with default file size.

Download and store the 28.10.2020 firmware from https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireless-carplay-dongle-reverse-engineering/tree/master/Firmware
in the pendrive. (Make sure to rename the file to U2W_Update)

Connect the Carlinkit/Carplay2air to a USB Wall power outlet

Wait for the solid Red light.

Insert the pendrive into the Carlinkit/Carplay2air and wait atlest 4 minutes while the device being updated (You will see alternative red light and green light on the device and finally solid red)

Delete all Wi-Fi and Bluetooth from Phone and Car (then make sure both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are tuned on in the phone)

Insert the Carlinkit/Carplay2air once the head unit is fully booted.

Select the Phone from the Carlinkit/Carplay2air screen you see.

Wait for the setup to complete

So you used the custom FW and went straight to 2020-10-28 version, none of this roll back etc?

As soon as this flashed did you see the CarLinkIt setup screen appear?

So yours has never worked with any official FW but using the custom one, it worked instantly?

Thanks

I got a new Amazon Carlinkit CPC200-U2W-Plus two days ago as my first Carlinkit CPC200-U2W-Plus was bricked last week with one of the custom firmware.

I am not sure what was the firmware version in the new Carlinkit. Anyway it didn't work with my 2018 Accord Touring when I received from Amazon.

So I downloaded and flashed the OFFICIAL firmware 28.10.2020 from the link I posted. Voila...it works!!

2018 and newer Honda Accord supports are added from the firmware 28.10.2020. None of the old and custom firmwares supported 2018 and newer Accords

Few days ago Carplay2air confirmed by an email that they now support all Honda models. Carplay2air and Carlinkit use the same firmware.

28.10.2020 is the latest firmware.

Let me know how can I rename the SSID Wi-Fi Name broadcasted by Carlinkit CPC200-U2W-PLUS.

Thank you.

Thanks. Just the link you said is the custom firmware.

Where is the official 2020-10-28 to download and I’ll try that.

When I plug in my CarLinkIt, it can see WiFi but no BT, I can then use 192.168.50.2 and it sees an update of 2020-10-28, I try to post, says successful but then says an update available again....

Thanks I’ve got that now, I’ll try tomorrow.

So as soon as you flashed this, the CarLinkIt worked first time and as it should, as in plugged in, connected to BT and the setup screen came up on your car screen?

Yeah...everything was quick and smooth

I've kept my iphone 11 pro unconnected to my 2019 Honda Accord Touring system's bluetooth and just connect through the wireless carplay. I have had a few instances in the last couple days where my car's head unit will reboot on it's own. Just like if the car was starting up. but it reconnects fine. It is a little burdensome to switch back to Sirius or FM manually. mostly good though

Downloaded vlud 10-28-2020 and my wife CarPlay has been flawless! Thank you!

From which link? As the one above is different to Vlud one... confused which is which

This one?
Here is the update from 2020-10-28:

(Rename the file to U2W_Update.img)

Did you have a normal wired CarPlay working beforehand or did you delete that on your car and iPhone first?

I want to make sure first what’s others did to get working before trying

Thanks
I deleted everything from her stock unit and connected with her phone thru CarPlay carlinkit wireless dongle she has an Mercedes 2017 cla 250 and for months it would freeze or reboot now it works fine and she drove for an hour in half in morning traffic

So 2020.10.28 is working pretty well for me but I have one small but annoying bug, everytime I get out the car whilst musics been playing about 10 seconds or so later my iPhone will carry on playing for song for a second or 2 and then stop.

It could just be my phone getting the max tomorrow so will see but I thought I’d see if anyone else has seen similar.

Thanks. Hope can get mine working.

So did yours not work straight out of box etc? You had to do the custom FW and roll back etc?
I’m very much invested in you getting yours working, since you were the original poster to this thread!

Mine didn’t work at all out of the box, the car would just not recognise the adapter.

It didn’t work with the most up to date firmware that I could find (before finding this forum).

It only started working after flashing the rollback, then the custom firmware from Ludwig. It was a last resort as well as I was going to return my adapter, I have been using it for my commutes all week and I haven’t had any issues or crashes too. (It’s a bit slow to boot up and connect though, which is fine)

Thanks a lot!

I’m just wondering as above just flashed with the 2020-10-28 FW from Ludwig folder which I think is the original FW first to see if working?

Both are strictly identical, it is the official firmware.

The custom firmware is here: https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireles...ng/tree/master/Custom_Firmware/28102020_BASED

Minors modifications that won't make any car compatibility difference (if it does not work on official, it will not work on the custom FW). Disabling logs and "performance" CPU scaling governor ensure less potential crashes and executing custom scripts can be useful in case the unit is not displaying anything on the car

Thanks, I’ll try the official first to see. As you probably know mine has never worked... well strangely last week, on my iPhone 12 I got it working for the first time ever one, but back in car later and never did.

Why above did someone say to roll back then go to 2020-10-28? Is this required for something specific?

So do you think 2020-10-28 is the best FW and they’ve made changes to help compatibility? With you able to look into the FW are changes apparent between them etc?

Thanks

Update on my previous issue of upgrade from 08.04 to 10.28. Gone from 'soft brick' to working fully again!

The unit refused to boot into CarPlay. It would turn on, and you could connect via wifi (via this new 'AutoBox-582f WLAN).

I had no issues in updating with previous firmware. Turns out that the VW 2016 head unit 'forgot' that it was a CarPlay device connected, and I had to go manually into the media settings menu, and select the iPhone CarPlay device. Only then did the Carlinkit 2.0 dongle appear and connected. After the firmware update it was appearing as a "USB Device reading..." message.

Funny thing is, the update screen is no longer showing 10.28 as an available update, simply 08.04 as being the latest version. I manually rolled back/forth multiple times with a USB stick, and finally figured it out. All is right with the world again. Lesson here was, don't update unless you really need to.

I do have to say the 10.28 version (I use the custom one) on a U2W-PLUS works very smooth. I have a Kia e-Soul with 10" screen and wireless CarPlay could be a bit sluggish for example when scrolling in Apple Maps. This is a lot better with this latest version compared to the (custom) September version I had before this.
Also I haven't had any black screens anymore. But I did have to reset the Kia infotainment system itself once for it to work 100% correct. (Pressed the small reset button below the screen with a sharp object.)

So I just finished reading this entire thread. I’d like to buy one as I love tinkering with tech, but unfoununitly it looks like the devices are very broken on Mazda’s; or at least ones with the first generation Connect software. I have a 2018 Mazda3 with the latest Connect firmware.

I wouldn’t expect it to work right away based on what I’ve read here, but the websites say they will (attempt) to add compatibility if you ask.

What do you think? Is it even worth a shot?

Question guys, how do I delete a phone from the device menu? I just got a new phone and now I have two "Joe's iPhone's" listed. For the life of me I can't get to that menu where you delete a phone? Thanks in advance.
