Question guys, how do I delete a phone from the device menu? I just got a new phone and now I have two "Joe's iPhone's" listed. For the life of me I can't get to that menu where you delete a phone? Thanks in advance.
When you see the screen that has the devices listed, tap and hold on whichever one you want to delete for several seconds. It should pop up a couple buttons, one of which is "Delete".

Since both phones are named the same, you might end up just having to delete both phones and re-pair.

Spot on jayhawk11 on both counts. Thank you. Had to delete both and re-setup the new phone again. Appreciated.

Hello, maybe somebody can help me. I´ve installed on my Carplay2air adapter the firmware 2020-08-27 because I tried almost every Software because of my Mazda 2 car. 2020-10-28, 2020-08-04, ...... Nothing worked. And the firmware did not work too. It has a different graphical design.

But now it was possible to change the firmware. OTA: 2020.11.12.1349. Different design, no change via USB possible V-Lud writes: rename U2W_Update.img to U2W_SYD_Update.img if you are on 2020.08.27) But even that does not work.
And the other problem isn´t solved too: The Adapter works and boots after 30-45 sek. It´s horrible. Is there anybody who can tell me about Mazda Connect 1.Version newest firmware. Thanks...

I’m very much invested in you getting yours working, since you were the original poster to this thread!

Mine didn’t work at all out of the box, the car would just not recognise the adapter.

It didn’t work with the most up to date firmware that I could find (before finding this forum).

It only started working after flashing the rollback, then the custom firmware from Ludwig. It was a last resort as well as I was going to return my adapter, I have been using it for my commutes all week and I haven’t had any issues or crashes too. (It’s a bit slow to boot up and connect though, which is fine)

So flashed with 2020-10-28 from the link, the official one.

Flash went fine, got alternate, then solid red.

Went to car, plugged in, and then it starts again...

Can’t see Bluetooth (sometimes), but can the WiFi which it connects to as the web page 192... and can see it’s version, and “no updates”

On car screen can see the icon of CarPlay come up for like a second. If I’m quick and press it I can then see the dongle setup screen, and can see my iPhone, and also my old iPhone 11. Not sure how after a FW flash...but then it goes off, repeat...

Then sometimes the Bluetooth pops up, try to connect, see a “pair” option click, but the Bluetooth drops and connects all the time to.

I can see the red LED, sometimes blue LED, but keep dropping probably with the loss of BT or WiFi?

HELP!?!?!

Few more questions....
How do get to the setup screen if you want to see? Can you when you want or is it only on an initial setup.

Is there no way to reset the dongle totally? I thought flashing a FW would, but it still shows my iPhone 11 (when I see the setup screen for the split second)

Thanks

Hello,

This may sound a bit strange but have you tried putting your Nav on developer mode (press power, home and menu at the same time until the menu comes up) and then scrolling through all of the information?

Then open and close the car door with the key out to turn the head unit off.

was the only other thing that I tried between mine not working and flashing ludwigs firmware (which I would recommend be the next step).

When I first had my device the apple CarPlay logo would show up for a second and go away every time I plugged it in, and sometimes I could see the set up screen. But after doing the update and the Nav developer mode it’s worked flawlessly (apart from one crash).

I’m sorry I can’t be of much more help 😢

I haven’t tried this, never knew about it, I’ll try surfing though thanks!

Did you check your software version on your car?

So you have the exact same, so it’s something common to our systems....

If this doesn’t work, then I’ll do the flash of the 2, although I’m sure the first flash was only to rollback to allow to get 2020-10-28 on?

So when you plug in the dongle you get a setup screen almost instantly on the screen? Only the first time you setup or every time? Can you ever access this screen at any other time afterwards?

Thanks

THANKS been wondering how to remove extinct phones for a while:)

I had the issue being stuck on the joyeauto firmware - for me I had to rename the file to U2W_SYD_Update.img, power up the adapter first and then plug in the usb with the firmware, the unit then flashed back to the normal software for me.

Just some information on my Update path. I tried a different route this time, as my last USB-C adapter bricked (no lights) after an OTA update I performed in the car (engine running, full 4G on the the iPhone).

1) Take the adapter out of the car
2) Turn off iPhones Bluetooth (for all iPhones close enough that are paired for CarPlay)
3) Plug the adapter into a USB wall socket (I used an Apple 10W adapter that shipped with an iPad)
4) Manually connect to the adapters WiFi via the iPhone settings (might take a while to show up)
5) Go to http://192.168.50.2
6) Click update
7) Leave the adapter plugged in for a few minutes just to be safe

Very interesting, I still have my USB-C bricked CarPlay adapter, I’ve tried connecting them to power supply both 5W and 10W I get no lights whatsoever, did you have a light on yours before 192.168.50.2 loaded? I had even tried USB stick in the adapter for 5 minutes and nothing.

I would love to hear from anyone who has been able to resurrect their bricked adapters.

Was going to try the car dev method you mentioned but I haven’t got a Menu button.

It has a home, skip back, power, skip forward, back button...

Can someone please answer some questions.

How do you get the CarLinkIt setup screen on your car screen?

Is it a one time screen you see, once setup you can’t see it anymore?

One people have it working, how do you access the CarLinkIt screen to say delete old iPhones (when my mine blips on I can see iPhone 11, my old iPhone listed)

My BT keep dropping and so I see the CarLinkIt screen blip on for 1src before I can select anything

@MrMister111 it comes up everytime and stays on whenever it doesn't see the paired iPhone.

have you tried wired connection thru the dongle?

Ah ok thanks. So potentially if you put iPhone in Airplane mode, with the dongle plugged in, that CarLinkIt screen should show up?

I have, last week, somehow, it worked when I plugged in, first time ever. But since no.

I’ve plugged in and it charges but doesn’t show CarPlay. I presume it should work wired like this all the time?

The CarLinkit interface always shows up before the iPhone is connected.
As soon as the iPhone is connected you just see the iPhones CarPlay interface.

So depending on the boot time of your adapter and Infotainment you may shortly see the Carlinkit interface saying "Connecting to Phone XY".

If no connection is made the Carlinkit interface remains on the screen. So if no phone is connected (because none is paired or yours has BT/WiFi turned off) the CarLinkit screen should appear on your Infotainment and remain there until the adapter is plugged out or a phone is connected.

Ok mines never done this. I see it flash up if I quickly press the CarPlay icon on my car screen.

So if the dongle worked as such, plugging straight into any car without an iPhone, you should see this screen?

So for example if you wanted to delete an old iPhone, you would put your iPhone in airplane/leave out of range and then the screen would come up and you’d see the CarLinkIt screen to delete etc?

Ok so I’m snookered then, mine has never done this unfortunately.

I can, messing about, get connected to BT and/or WiFi as I can go to 192.xxx and it checks for updates etc.

So my iPhone can “see” the dongle it’s just the car screen blips up on icon for CarPlay and disappears....

Maybe if I take to another car to get to setup screen and delete all old iPhone? As seems can’t reset the dongle even with FW updates

About Developer Mode, you mentioned that you can't access it because you don't have a HOME button.

The method for R.4 headunits might work? you may want to try it?

Here's a video from YT.

That’s the same button layout as mine, I’ll have a look thanks.

So what to do in there? Just look around, no changes?

So can you confirm, on your head unit, with iPhone in airplane mode, or out of range. You can plug in your dongle and you see the CarLinkIt setup screen on your car screen?

If the one on the video works, you should see the Developer Menu in Settings, but you dont have to change anything.
The aim is to replicate what Chrishansellis did to make his device work.

yes, that's how it behaves. One time I got on my vehicle and waited for Carplay to come on, but the headunit just shows the Carlinkit menu and was trying to connect to my iPhone, thats when I realized that my iPhone has it's BT turned off.

Ok thanks, just means mine is a no no completely then. Although I wouldn’t mind the ability to delete all phones and start again.

Strange how somehow I got it working for a bit last week. I remember I seen the setup dongle screen, and think managed to click on my iPhone and then it seemed to work
