I tried this OTA update as well. But the upgrade process did not work. The dongle reboots, but with the old version (2020-08-02) and the OTA update is still offered.yes. working flawlessly. updated OTA today. aftermarket Alpine iLX-207 with iPhone Xs iOS14.2 and Cplay2air dongle

From which version you started the OTA update?
I just updated and had my headunit (opel astra R4.0) did not recognise the carplay2air unit at all.My Carlinkit 2 just bricked after update.
Totally no red light? My problem is no power up never after reboot on firm update. This update have damage my dongle......
I have not seen anybody with an older Mazda have any luck, so yes, I would advise to stay away. Some other car manufacturers/head units have had better luck (from what I can gather).I was thinking about getting a dongle for my 2016 Mazda CX 9 but after seeing all the problems people are having with these products I think I’ll be staying away. Am I wrong?
So has anyone tried the latest version 2020.11.10?
which is official OTA upgrade..
I used the fallback version. It works and brings you back to 040820.I could install the OTA update without problems... But I could not see any difference to the previous OTA version.
Has anyone seen that there is now a "fallback version" in the web interface?
It looks like you could downgrade to an old version.
Tried to turn the iPhone off and then on again? That worked for me a while ago.I have a Chevy 2020 350T, Carlinkit never worked reliably, but it did work every now and then. Upgraded via OTA to 2020.11.10.2137 and never got it to work after repeatedly erase/re-pair etc. So following instructions here I rolled back to 2020.08.04 and then upgraded to 2020.09.23, which according to some users seems to work well with Chevys.
Now I quickly get the Connecting screen, and then back to searching, back to connecting, back to searching, and so on... My phone shows WiFi as connected to the dongle, and bluetooth also pairs and connects with no issue, but somehow CarPlay does not start. Any help? Thanks!
What's the benefit from 10/28 to 11/10?Updated to 10.11.2020

Tried that a few times, didn't work. But after hours of trying I finally found a solution: Go to Settings > Reset on iPhone and choose Reset Network Setting. Then re-pair Bluetooth with dongle. It's working great ever since.Tried to turn the iPhone off and then on again? That worked for me a while ago.

Top tip! I wish there were a simpler way to reset network settings without losing wifi passwords! As a general heads-up, just be aware that performing a network settings reset erases all stored WiFi passwords you have on the phone. And if you have iCloud Keychain turned on, it will also delete them from all your other Apple devices (that also have iCloud Keychain turned on). Ask me how I know this!!
That said, there are times when it's necessary to do that type of reset to fix various issues. So now, if I have to do it I first go into my iCloud settings on the phone and turn off iCloud Keychain, reboot the phone for good measure. Then I do the network settings reset on the phone. Then I go back into iCloud and turn keychain back on. That will allow the saved wifi networks to flow back over to the phone.

@VLud just in case it saves you soldering each time, I have discovered that these clips work reliably on the tl8633ii. Only <$2 and flashes every time from my backup. The only way is to have a backup of the flash chip before it bricked (requiring -de-soldering), so at the moment: no solution.
