Wow, it's been almost an year since I got my Carplay2Air adapter to use on my 2020 Jeep Compass. It never worked and I almost gave it a quit. I'm desinged a holder for the phone with the cable attached and was "living" with it.

Yesterday I too got an email from no one other than... "Michael"!! Stating that they have a new firmware that solved most of the compatbility problems. I requested the instructions and without much hope gave it a try this afternoon.

Voila!!! WORKS!!!! USB flashing was a breeze (I've done it a few times before) and when I connected at first it did not show up, but on the second attempt it connected automatically (my phone was already paired using a friend's car).

All seems to be working (forgot to try a phone call and load maps) but I was able to listen to music (apple Music App) and to get Spotify to work. And for both the steering wheel controls were working as well as the song title being properly displayed on the dashboard.

Tomorrow I will give the phone and maps a try.

I almost have lost hope, although I've been trying several versions of past firmware. Not the first gadget that I have to wait months for it to work, but I'm glat it's working now.

What’s the version you are on? Was it sent to you direct? Could you post? Or is it the same as the current OTA of 2020-11-10?

Thanks

Got the email, too. Bummed that Subaru wasn't listed. (I have a 2020 Crosstrek, and like a bozo, I didn't read the compatibility list before buying.)

Regardless, I installed the firmware anyway using instructions listed above, but unfortunately, it still doesn't appear in my car. Bwomp womp.

This installed OTA yesterday morning

I got an email. My guess they have kept a list of people that had problems and asked for support. It was really a surprise. The email informed that a new firmware was available and if I wanted to try I could reply (to a different address) to get the download instructions.

I have not checked the version and there is no information on the email or on the download site (Google Drive). I will go down to the car and check it later, but I assume it's the same (??)

Response to touch is good. Music, Spotify, Maps, Phone all work. Steering wheel controls are very responsive. Song title properly showing on the dashboard. I have not noticed any considerable lag on phone calls. But need to do some extra testing to 100% satisfied. And connection takes about 15 seconds once UConnect finishes loading.

So far I'm impressed. This is what I expected an year ago. Now with a MagSafe charger (just use double sided tape to attach it to the side of the console - no need to see the screen) it's a great combo.

So you didn’t ask for the download link from them, and just used the link for 2020-11-10 from the first post?

Be worth still asking for the link from them and downloading it and posting for anyone who wants.

When you say your using a MagSafe now, how are you powering it in the car? I’ve heard it requires the specific Apple 20W to get the full charge?

Thanks

Got the file from them (asked for the link). I've made a copy at:

As for the MagSafe, I have an Anker PowerDrive charger. Not sure it's working in full mode, but it charges the 12 Pro with MagSafe (phone using a Totallee soft case).

Thanks, maybe helpful for someone, and/or to decompile as some above have.

Be interested to know what version it shows as well though. Just use your iPhone to connect as normal and go to 192.168.50.2 and it will show if an update and what current version is.

Never thought about that for charging, I may get a MagSafe now, good idea! Be great if I could get mine working and then I may get the charger for the car.

Thanks

Hey - I got the dongle a couple months ago and never used it because it didn’t work with MBUX. Now I need to update it to get it to work but to update it says I need to connect which I can’t. Does anyone know how I can update the firmware without using my phone?

Look at first post, use USB method

Hey guys,

With the last update it works on Peugeot 3008 RCC ( without navigation ). So if anyone had problem on Peugeot, update to last firmware and it will work.

Hello everybody,

I was very crucial about how these CarPlay-Adapters work with the "old" Mazda MZD Connect head unit:

Like @josejrp stated, the carlinkit 2.0 adapter lost every 30 seconds the connection and reboots (latest firmware, 2020.11.10.2137; doesn't matter if wired or wireless). The rollback firmware (2020.08.04.1602) is not recognized by the car.

Using the OTA-Update worked pretty well back and forth (10W iPad Charger). Unfortunately I didn't give up at this point. While getting a better unterstandig of how it works, I tried some firmware updates via USB (thx VLud for your repository). They didn't brick the device completly. And the Adapter still activates after using the 192.168.50.2.

However the bluetooth part is now gone and I'm not able to pair it anymore, compared to the first paring process which takes no minute. It stays on the setup screen while showing the cars bluetooth name correctly. Nothing happens when clicking on the search button other than an colorful feedback. Using the cable starts CarPlay until reboot.

Using U2W.sh scripts

Does someone have an idea?
@Diehminer How did you re-enable your BT?
@VLud How does a working logfile looks like?

I would really appreciate your help. The CarlinKit-Support didn't answer my request until now.

Edit: added log parts

Well finally got my adaptor post the email re compatibility with Jaguar and guess what it WORKS. :)
I have updated the firmware to latest and it is very good so far - need to see how it all works with GPS etc I assume all will work well. I have been tracking this thread for over a year and so pleased that it now supports JLR.

Tried mine with 2020-11-10 in another car today, a Citroen, same problem as my Vauxhall, setup screen flashes up then disappears....

Could see that it said Citro-1234 or similar, but just closed straight away. I was hoping to see the setup screen so I could delete the 2 iPhones I see and start afresh....

The quest continues.....

Maybe it's your adapter that has some kind of hardware problem then? If I were you I would buy another one via Amazon (so you can return it for a refund if it doesn't work either).

It actually, strangely, worked last week on mine for one time, but next time in car didn’t.

Months and months ago it worked first time on a friend of friend Merc.

I could do that, just worried as it’s never worked, although someone above with similar system said they got theirs to work

I'd try another one from Amazon where returns are easy. I'm visualizing a post from you someday where it works and this thread will come full circle!

Still broken for me. (2020 Hyundai Palisade)
I did the OTA today and it worked for me. The startup phase seemed faster and I confirmed the dongle still uses the vehicle GPS. Didn’t notice any other improvements or issues during the short drive. Songs may have skipped less frequently, will see how it goes over the next few days on that front.

Hello ... works the U2W update file also for the new Carlink 2.0 wireless kit with usb-c or only for the old kit ?

Any luck so far?
Hi, received an update yesterday and yes it is working right now with IOS on PEUGEOT 5008

Here is the latest manual update available for Connectivity and Compatibility issues.

Before you perform the update, please watch this video to guide you on how to properly perform the steps:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1akjOcSqQE3Uf8dfrO8n0JFlvPhzsC_Tc/view?usp=sharing

Update instructions:

1.Please download the firmware update file from here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KKPbwbR23EivvDZcVpANP-8D9Nh_1G5-/view?usp=sharing

  1. Please save update firmware file on USB flash drive (Flash drive format must be FAT32) as "U2W_Update.img".
  2. Plug the flash drive into the CPLAY2air adapter.
  3. Plug CPLAY2air to the USB power charger/wall charger for your iPhone. Please don’t use the USB port of the car or computer!!
  4. Please wait 2-3 minutes, until the the flashing light becomes solid
  5. Please unplug the adapter from the USB charger and remove the USB flash drive from the adapter.
  6. Please now plug the product into the USB port of the car.
  7. Please wait until the new window will appear on the vehicle's screen.
  8. Connect your phone to the Bluetooth network which is shown on the screen.
  9. Wait for the new interface to appear on the screen.

Very Important note: Do not attempt to connect the adapter to your computer's or laptop's USB port. These ports are made to transfer data and will just interrupt the update process and brick the device.
