Ok so after some PMing tonight some revelations.
A user on here had the same car as me, XC40, but his dongle wouldn’t display anything at all on the screen.
Im aware that some of you have the no-screen issue, but this is what fixed it for him.
On the iPhone, Forget Bluetooth (Forget this device) pairing to the dongle, and the WiFi. (Forget this network). For good measure under Settings/General/Carplay remove the AUTOKIT. (Forget this car)
Thats the three major places associated with the dongle. Now it probably matters which order you do this.
Me, I forgot the WiFi whilst dongle was powered, then the Bluetooth, and CarPlay was empty. Just make sure all 3 are forgotten/gone.
The bottom line is...after he did this...he re paired using the normal instructions and BOOM, it was working.
If like me, you’ve plugged the dongle into other vehicles, it seems to remember things. He had plugged his into a Merc and then it no longer worked in the Volvo.
So it’s not definitive, but definitely worth a shot after EACH upgrade. It could be that even though the firmware has been updated, the phone could be remembering older settings. This might just be the secret element....but we won’t know until people try.
As mentioned, no guarantees, but it can’t hurt to try.
