Well I’ll be buggered. I’ve updated todays version - detail says about fixing issues with older Volvo cars... but...

audio latency is pretty much gone (I can have a phone call!!). Everything else is working!! Connection speed is good (20 seconds from turning on the car). Virtual cockpit is working. Steering wheels buttons and mmi all function. Winner.

I think I’ll stick to this version for now...

What vehicle?
Audi A3. What about your vehicle ? Does it work ?

Nice to here. I use mmi as well. Do your music info in VC change all the time or does it get stuck ?

Changes all the time, doesn’t seem to get stuck.

Got a new email from "Michael". Basically it contains what we have already discovered: you can update from the head unit and it will activate and remove the "demo mode".

As for my case, they are "Still working" on the Jeep issue.

Hi! I have a Jeep Renegade with Uconnect and have your same issues with carplay2air.
I see “iPhone” on uconnect touch screen but in iPhone bluetooth settings i can’t find the adapter (the red Led is stationary).
does the new update solve the problem?

thanks for your reply!

That’s not the same issue I have on my 2019 jeep wrangler. It finds everything in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi just fine.

Hi! Has someone tested if the “Run when AirPlay is connected” automation’s trigger run? Thanks in advance!

Yes it works! I am using the CarPlay trigger in Shortcuts app to test out automatically activating low power mode to reduce battery drain. No conclusions yet as to if low power mode affects CarPlay functions.

Yes. This firmware has degraded my Volvo experience

@alanplum, I also have a Volvo XC40 so I really appreciate your insightful posts on the Volvo experience. I am wondering if you can elaborate on this, and if it has been fixed.

I am resisting updating the firmware -- still on the original version -- and frankly I prefer the original minimal connection screen. I know this is being nitpicky, but the new firmware interface looks amateur, and the dongle works perfectly now on the old firmware. I am still waiting for a good reason to update, like steering wheel controls for phone functions. Also, the track info and album art no longer appear on the instruments cluster, like they do with wired CarPlay.

everything still works in the XC40. The latest firmware just made connecting slower and it doesn’t connect every time now. I’ve just updated to the latest “Do not update” firmware tonight so will know tomorrow.

id stay on the firmware you’re on if you’re happy with it, and I’m sure the Volvo owners on here will let you know if any more issues as resolved.

Man wish I still had your version :(

There appear to be different issues wth Jeeps, each one presenting at differentimes.
- In @mikejd1 case, bluetooth shows up in the dongle and he can connect and evertually, albeit with restriction, use it.
- @Salsalove dongles display a solid red LED but not bluetooth to connect
- I can't even get the red LED to stick: it keeps "rebooting" the adapter. If I force the power to stay on, it does show a solid red, but stuck like @Salsalove.

My gut feeling: there are way too many Jeep UConnect versions around, even for the same car model (I guess that is the same for other brands too). @mikejd1 screens (from his video) and options are way too different from mine. Different firmwares, different set of car features, even different makers for the head unit (different countries and different assembly plants).

I have hope it will eventually work. There is a good market and they want to get it right. It's product made to remove a limitation imposed by Apple and made-in China. So we should not expect much in terms of support. Even tough they still have many problems, they are actively trying to fix them.

I'm waiting. Testing for me imply going to a friend's to update (and test on his car). I will try soon the latest version, although I still don't have many hopes.

And will email "Michael" once again tonight.

I finally bit the bullet and updated the adapter from 11.11. The update seemed to go just fine, the boot up time is much faster, but the setup procedure hangs up on "waiting for authorization." When I try to access what is presumably the authorization server at 192.168.50.2, I get either the message "network exception, please check the network" or else a spinning wheel of death stating "waiting for updates". Either way, I can't get beyond this point. I get the same results regardless of whether the iPhone is connected to the adapter's SSID, the car's wi-fi hotspot, or cellular data at 4G LTE. Any thoughts?

Try doing it in an area where you may get better cellular reception. I had that issue the very first time i tried.

Just buy a Brodit holder with the connector, you get a good phone holder and connects to CarPlay when you put the phone in, charges the phone too.

Got one of them but i like having carplay on those short journeys where you leave your phone in your pocket.

The Brodie will be coming out shortly now I am comfortable with the wireless unit.

I'm designing a holder (to be 3D printed) that's similar to the Brodit (slide in) but will place a wireless charging pad on the back. To be mounted on the side of the central console or inside a cup holder. But this is for when I get my CarPlay2Air working!!!

Yes. You should have stayed on 11.11. I’d kill for that firmware right now. 😂

Also, someone should try and take this thing apart and see what it’s doing/reverse engineer it and try to make a better more reliable version. 😀 I’m not smart enough for that but I’m sure someone in here is

Just get the one already made from Ali express or one of the magnetic QI mounts from amazon

MAJOR FIND FOR JEEP OWNERS: Ok. So I was having major uconnect issues ever since I bought my 2019 wrangler back in June. So I finally got to the dealership today to have them addressed as Jeep wave program told me updates were available to fix my issues. So Jeep finished the updates and guess what, Carplay2air no longer even works 100% anymore. Just a red light not even a blue light. So now, officially I’m dead in the water.

So to those with the 2020 gladiator maybe this is why you can’t get yours to work as you may have the latest uconnect firmware.

So now I’m even more pissed. Now I really have a brick

Edit: false alarm 😁

So explain the false alarm

So I had that post prepared after the the jeep update. I had to go back to the Jeep dealership twice they applied an update earlier in the morning and CarPlay stopped working since then. They called me back and said that there was an additional thing they needed to do so I had to go back to the dealership once they completed that it’s fine now. So I wonder if the first install they did corrupted something

So thats a result if its working now then.

Worrying that they sent you away with a part finished software update, what if there was some safety related stuff that had got messed up.
