GPS doesn't know which way you are facing only the direction the receiver is moving.
Do you mean the GPS setting is only providing the position to the Carplay?

In my car GPS the direction is correct, if I rotate my phone, the direction is also following the north on Carplay. So it’s for sure taking into account the direction information coming from the phone but not from the car.

Of course both are using internal compass. But it means that compass information from the car is not provided to Carplay

I can't get any firmware to load using USB - the USB drive is formatted FAT32, the file is named U2W_Update.img, but when I plug the drive into the Carlinkit while it's powered by a wall charger, nothing happens. Is there some trick to it I'm missing? Is it because I'm using a MAC?

Not all USB sticks are equal, I had to try 7 different ones to get it to work. 8 or 16GB USB2 drives seem the favourites to work

Yes. The problem is that we don't all use the same head unit. Some have a compass built in and some not. Some might not use the car's GPS even if you enabled it. The dongle is a hack job and probably not following Apple's official guidelines for wireless CarPlay. It took them over a year of beta to get to this point.

Hi there. Does anyone have the same issue of Carlinkit 2.0 randomly not connecting to the phone at all? Initially I thought that most of the connection issues were caused by my phone still being connected to the home WiFi, however recently I noticed that it stopped reconnecting even when I’m out of range of any other WiFi network. What usually works it to unplug the usb cable of Carlinkit and plug it again...but that’s super annoying! I have it connected in RAV4 2019. Thanks. K.

Received my Carlinkit 2.0 today for my Mazda CX-5. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to run consistently, and just reboots every 30 seconds or so. Had no issues setting up, but it seems to power cycle all the time. I have seen some others with this issue, has it been resolved? Running version 2021.01.08.1658

needs to update to firmware 2021.1.28 or newer. If you can't get OTA update. There are instructions in this thread on how to upgrade using USB.

All Mazdas had that problem, until fixed in the 2021.01.28 firmware.

Try different USB sticks, not all are equal. I had to try 8 different ones to find one which worked. The one I settle on was an old 16GB stick

I changed a few USBs, it still does not respond.

Correct format? Done on a windows PC or Mac? Be careful with Mac as leaves other hidden files.

Best USB seem to be old small Gb version’s. As above may have to keep trying others until find one that works.

Power up dongle first, wait a minute then plug in USB and see if that works.

Try to plug the dongle to your wall charger without the usb stick first. Wait till the dongle shows red light before you plugging the usb in. My dongle did nothing when I plug it to the wall charge with the usb already plugged in.

Hope it helps :)

I can't try it.
I don't know what to do next.

I actually think the installed version (2020.12.25.1731) may be the issue - it's the same version I have, and I can't install via USB either despite trying several USB sticks, formatting and trying different versions of the update. The other problem is that I can't update to the newest version via OTA either because that version is corrupt and isn't the right size. I've resigned myself to waiting until the next version of the OTA update comes out and hope that works.

Hello all,

I have a Carlinkit V1 adapter that no longer works. Via WiFi and Bluetooth I can connect the adapter with the Iphone. The IP can be reached (Ping), but no web menu appears. Also an update via USB stick is not possible. The red LED lights up continuously, but the update does not start. If I connect with WiFi, the blue LED flashes.
I have a second adapter that works perfectly. Also the update with the same USB stick starts there flawlessly.
Is there any way to bring the adapter back to life?

Greetings Johnny

I have this problem more often than not in my 2020 Rav4. The thing is though, that I had the problem with wired carplay as well, so I think its a vehicle issue and not the dongle.
