Modes were the really old firmware pre OTA
Ah thanks for that.
I seriously don’t understand why the adapter won’t activate CarPlay when I’ve plugged it in but will activate when I’ve got my phone connected to it via lightning cable. So bizarre.

I plan on filling a PayPal dispute if “Michael” doesn’t respond to my emails today...

I filed the dispute. He then replied. But I sent his garbage back. It may work for some but it certainly does not work for most.

Oh, well. I updated and all went fine. But it won’t move beyond the screen saying “connecting”.

I too am having the solid red light issue on a new device. If I can get a firmware upgrade will that fix it? Has anyone been able to fix the solid red light no BT issue?

Guys, I know that most of you don’t have success at all, but is there someone who experiences music stuttering and image hanging?
It happens very randomly and sometimes could not happen at all, but in overall everything looks not so stable.
On Kia Optima 2017 everything is good except issues described.

No updates Today. Guess they are “hard at work” to release another update that does nothing. I’m almost thinking they just release fake updates and say things are fixed. 🥱

Has anyone heard a peep from "Michael" at all over the last 2-3 days? Or has he just decided to go completely AWOL?

Yeah I'm suspecting he's getting all these emails that he can't keep up with and has decided to just not respond to any. Given the fact he has everyone's emails from the orders he's received, he could just send out a mass email to us all giving us updates on issues/fixes/firmware updates instead of keeping everyone in the dark with radio silence, especially after spending a considerable amount of money only to have an expensive paperweight or half-functioning device...

FYI - I've been trying to get it work, and over the last few days I've gotten it to work very well. It still takes more time to get it working each time I turn on my car (about 20-30 seconds until I can use it). What I've learned is:

1) When starting the car, NEVER push on the "CarPlay" button - just wait until the screen automatically shows a full screen any of any of the CarPlay apps.

2) Once you get past #1, you can change the screen to any "apps". And you can push the CarPlay button whenever you want.

3) So far, it's now working very well!

Eventually had a WhatsApp reply about mine just never working or showing on screen.

It can now send logs he says with new interface, can’t see where there is an “allow” this or if it’s auto or manual so not sure what it is or isn’t sending.

Said mine incompatible though still selling and advertising mine works....

I’ve pointed him to this forum thread so hopefully he will get a feeling for the discontent from some users.

For me it’s working mostly as I would expect it to.

I doubt it - it's normally only the ones who are dissatisifed who post on threads like this; the ones who find it works and "just use it" don't even go looking for threads like this, let alone have cause to post on them.
My take is, the only people buying this thing are technical people or people who like to get there hands dirty with stuff like this or love innovation. Look, we all took the risk to buy from a company in CHina, or wherever the hell they are located, with knowing the reviews on the site are all fake. The price point of $160 was max for me to try this and hope for the best. I personally do not think ANYONE has it working flawless, so most of the buyers im sure are on this forum, and other car forums (which ive googled and found) and most of the threads i read are folks who like to fiddle and are good at troubleshooting. Grandma or my moms isnt out there searching for "wireless carplay"

I can say for certain, other than Volvo which seems to be the closest to working with little to no issues, that this dongle has problems in every car.

I got mine yesterday. So far, it's worked flawlessly with my 2018 MY Audi RS3. Initial setup and pairing was straight forward and worked first time, connection is rapid, it's very responsive with no noticeable lag at all. In fact, for me, it's identical to it being plugged in via a cable. I've also used it in a 2016 Audi Q7 and it works just as well in that vehicle too.

I have not checked what software version my Carplay2Air is yet.
I own a Audi A3 and almost everything is working fine. Only issue I have is song info get stuck after 1 min. so it want change when I change song after 1. Do you have same issue ?

mikejd1 -I have a prior version of the firmware that was sent to me to try to solve my problems. I only signed up for this forum for this CarPlay2Air thread. If there's a way to private message, get in touch with me and I'll send it to you to see if it helps get you back to where you started.

Hello, would you be able to send me the prior firmware version? The newest ones aren’t working for me.

Thank you,

John

Unfortunately it’s not possible to step the software back. Just check every day to see if there is an update.

What’s the latest CarPlay2air firmware? I can’t seem to download any because the one that is showing is a test firmware.
Also how does one go about changing modes? I keep reading here about modes 0, 1, 2, 3. Cheers.

I have the same car as ”itsmehuey”, only my mine is 2018 Mercedes CLA 250. I’m also experiencing the same issues. I’m able to establish a connection via USB and then disconnect the USB to establish a bluetooth connection. Once connected everything works wirelessly. However, after turning the car off and restarting, it is no longer able to establish a wireless connection.

I believe the issue is with the timing of both the mercedes head unit and the time it takes the dongle to load. The Mercedes recognizes the dongle and tries to start carplay but the phone hasn’t established a connection to the dongle yet. By the time the phone connects to the dongle the Mercedes gives up trying to connect to carplay. This cycle goes on continuously.

The only way to establish a wireless connection is to establish the wired connection first. However, the latest firmware is causing this to fail as well.

I received my carplay2air last week and initially Michael responded to my emails but he stopped responding a few days ago. I provided him with all of the steps I tried to get this thing to work and all of the issues I experienced accompanied by pictures. However, like I said the responses have now stopped. My hope is that they are working on a fix.

Also, for those trying to establish a connection you may benefit from my experience. I was never able to establish a bluetooth connection until I first established a wired connection and then disconnected the USB which allowed the bluetooth connection. So, anyone unable to establish a bluetooth connection off the hop should consider trying this step because it may give you a permanent wireless solution (even though it didn’t give me one with my model car).

Glad to see I’m not the only one who is having the same issue with the same car maker and model. And yeah, it only half works with the stupid cable-first “workaround”. Really defeats the whole purpose if you have to plug in a cable first before wireless works. I’m raising my PayPal dispute soon as I believe I’ve given “Michael” more than enough time to respond to my support requests. I didn’t pay $230AU for a half functioning product.
