Can someone tell me the first post in the thread is still valid? or someone point me to correct wiki. thanks

Strange. Here’s mine below. This was the £20 Amazon UK one. OTA of same version 2021-03-06 as well.

Background mode doesn’t work on my car, sometimes doesn’t show CarPlay icon and have to push the projection button then works. Rather it did though as not bothered on the connecting screen. Not sure why a lot of people above want to flash different versions of this and that just to change the colour of a screen that, at worst you see for 1s before CarPlay.

That's the autokit firmware screen.

I'm not sure if it is the same model, but I bought one of these CarPlay wireless USB dongles about one year ago and it changed my life!

I am Very absent minded and prefer the iPhone stay in my pocket. Too many evenings, I get undress and ready to go to bed and THEN remember I left my iPhone in the car.

Now the iPhone stays in my pocket.

The dongle works with either my iPhone 6+ or Xr depending on which one I have with me.

And it was VERY easy to setup in my Chevy Bolt EV.

In regards to what please?

I can update the first post of whatever is needed
I was just referring that may be a link to the dongle which can work should be there. Also the latest links to images and way to flash them would be nice. I just saw this thread and would like to use wireless car play in my car. its just like a guide for a newbie. Thanks

Links for the official firmware, not @VLud custom ones (happy to link if wants to though) and how to flash with USB and OTA is already there.

yeah I saw those. what about the Link for few adapters which seem to be working? Thanks

Adapters as in USB drives? That’s a minefield, there can be newer/older versions of the same USB drive even. Seems to be older lower storage sizes that have been successful. Also people seem to use iPad chargers for power.

I'm still truly amazed that the Ford Sync / Siri crash issue has persisted for weeks (or maybe even months now?) and there's been no resolution other than users determining they can flash back to firmware from August.

I'm certain it's quite difficult to keep up-to-date with software and hardware on multiple different platforms, but if you're selling this as compatible with Ford Sync 3.X devices, it really ought to be compatible... and crashing each time Siri is used -- either for handsfree commands or for things to be read to you while driving is a huge problem.

no I meant the adapter for CarPlay which will will connect to the car and has to be flashed!

@jperry2010 -- no one here, to my knowledge, is working on the actual firmware (e.g. fixing bugs/issues). That is done by an unknown team in China. If you want to report a bug, access the internal webpage (@http://192.168.50.2) and tap the gear, then scroll down and tap the feedback button. That is how you submit bugs to the team actually working on the firmware (it's a one-way, limited text input submission system).

At the time I found this, it is only $29. I am not in any way associated with the seller.
I picked one of these up to have as an extra development unit (in white) -- it's the one with the "RED" AUTOKIT interface. Mine shipped with 2020.11.10.2138 firmware with 2021.03.06.1343 available for download. I installed VLuds custom firmware.

Yes, it is not lost on me that it’s not the members of this forum who are responsible for making the firmware work. I was speaking with a more royal “you” to express frustration with a product that is not working as advertised.

Hello does anyone know how to solve the disconnection problems with the Carlinkit 2.0? The initial connection works but after 5-10 minutes of driving it will disconnect and my display in my car will go blank. I just updated the firmware recently so I think I’m running the latest firmware. My car is a 2018 Honda Accord touring and my phone I’m using it with is an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

You might just have to wait for a new firmware or go to page 1 and try some of the older firmwares from the repository.
I've had my unit since December and I never had any disconnection problems until the latest firmware which made it disconnect every 5-10 minutes just like you described.
I was able to rollback to older firmware from the settings page of the device and my disconnect problem went away.
So newer firmware doesn't always mean better.

AutoKit is an APK for Android head units, is that correct? Does this mean that it overrides the display of the CarlinkIt?
No idea. It is the name of the firmware with the red connect screen for wireless carplay

Is there any ability to check the partitions? I want do check why my device is not recognizing any USB-drive. But when I plug my iPhone in (via cable) its charging battery.

I am working on a Matching Blue CarPlay UI.

I have incorporated various Elements and images from the Original Car Play into the Home Screen.

I am stuck trying to find where the “Settings” Menu is getting data can anyone help?

it doesn’t appear to be in ui.tar.gz and I have check everywhere else. It must be somewhere.

Here is some progress I have made on the UI

Sorry I can’t help but do you have any pictures of this? Dongle works well on my Ford sync system but would love a more apple factory look to the connecting screen!

Curious to see if you have the same Ford Sync system, adapter, and firmware.

I’ve tried to replicate the issue here before with Siri but haven’t been able to.

Am on Sync 3.4 build 20136 with the carlinkit usb c device. It’s on the custom autokit firmware at the moment based on 2021.03.06.
It’s a U.K. Ford Focus to narrow it down abit more.

I'm quite envious. I'm on this device with USB C on Sync 3.4 (i'd have to go back and check the build here) in a 2021 Ford Explorer in the US and am on the most recent OTA update firmware. I just really hope this Siri thing is at least being worked on... as I'm moderately happy I guess with the functionality OTHER than Siri killing things.

Having CarPlay for music and/or nav without having to plug in is still fantastic and I'm glad for it, especially now that I've installed a MagSafe charger setup in my glovebox for when I want to charge and am not on a quick trip where I just leave my phone in my pocket... but the inability to use voice commands or to have texts being read out loud cause a reboot is just, bleh.

I suppose in the immediate, I can just hardwire in for longer drives when I need to use voice, but man, it's nice having those wires out of sight and out of mind...

I’m happy to do more testing - is it when you press the voice button on the steering wheel it crashes or when you hold down the home button on car play / tap a field which activates Siri? Wonder if it’s a software difference between U.K. and US sync builds
