This is sort of out of my scope, especially since I dont have a bricked device... but ** maybe ** we can extract a Feb 2020 update and change the version # to something newer, and recompile it.

This will trick the dongle into thinking this is an update and install it via USB?

Once it is updated, to a custom FW we can then downgrade to the proper Feb 2020 Version #?

Went to my car to get the two dongles just now. The stock 2021.03.06 still has the rollback option but the custom one does not.
You dont need a roll back option in custom firmware.

Ludwig has provided a script to roll back from March. Add the U2W.sh script + old firmware (U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img or U2W_Update.img) + ARMimg_maker on USB and roll back.

It seems only people that are SOL are who are on the Custom FW and have a incompatible WIFI Driver

Hope that works.

Thank you. I was not aware of this trick.

Hey, my experince with new update
- Škoda Scala 2019
- best firmware that worked for me was from december 2020 (no reboots only mic didnt work)
- the latest version from march fixed the problem with mic but after around 5 minutes it reboots
- another issue I had today was that after 5 minutes of using waze I could not hear the navigation, only the music was "muteted" - quite long delay as well.
- I wanted to go back to december firmware, but I am not able to install via USB, I am able to update and rollback but not via USB. I tried U2W_Update and the new name as well. No result

Are you running custom firmware?

is it modified somehow or the original? I rolledback to november and tried to update via usb as many times before but withnout luck

I will try it tomorow once again. But today there was only red light, not like last time when there were flashing red and blue.

@TireGuy6 your Theme looks nice!
I have Red UI with Firmware 2021.02.05.2216 (today updated via OTA).
I have another OTA update (I don't make this at the moment) to 2021.03.06.

What do I need to install your Theme? Can I use original Firmware? Thank you :)

I have tried but it's failed. maybe they don't want us to rollback.
EDIT: modified comment as illustrating that I still have downgrade option from 2021.03.06 is not actually helpful.

I am instead going to follow directions from @TireGuy6 and roll back to November firmware, then install Autokit and try his UI.

Hi,

No you cannot use original firmware with my theme and you must flash to custom.

Custom will allow you access to roll back if you need to, as you can see they released a version with no option to roll back. This killed some devices when they changed the WIFI driver and people are SOL and have a dead device.

If you have a Custom firmware you can roll back, not to mention to CPU performace is increased, and logging is disabled to save RAM 3+ features in custom FW.

If you are on a March 2021 release, with ROLLBACK option in http://192.168.50.2 - USE IT and downgrade to ANY original version and then UPDATE to a CUSTOM FW, FEBRUARY 2021.

My theme is compatible with AUTOKIT CUSTOM FIRMWARE only - Without Custom firmware you CANNOT modify or access ANY system files.

APPLE CAR PLAY UI THEME

EXCLUSIVELY FOR U2W AUTOKIT (RED INTERFACE)

Notes:

You MUST be on 'CUSTOM AUTOKIT' FIRMWARE. This was developed on Feb 2021 software but is most likely compatible on older versions.

Questions?

*yes* it must be custom firmware* - you cannot access the file system on stock FW

*yes* it must be AUTOKIT version - blue version uses different code, if anyone wants to test and find out, be my guest. However I am pretty sure it wont work and you may brick your device.

*it MUST be a U2W Device* (As far as I know AUTOKIT is only U2W devices)

Any bug fixes or element adjustments *MUST* be opened on Github, if you have questions, open them on GITHUB discussion. This thread moves to fast to help.

For further information regarding installation check github in the /install or uninstall directories and read the README.TXT file for further instructions.

You will require 3 things:

1) USB Stick
2) U2W Dongle running Custom AUTOKIT FW
3) Brain.

I am not responsible for mistakes.

Thankyou @dca78 for helping with the 1280x720 version, without him it wouldn't exist.

Enjoy:

Theme fully supports 3 resolutions:

1) 800x480
2) 1920x720
3) 1280x720

If you don't have a compatible resolution you will see everything out of place and it will look like the current ugly interface. It will still work and you can either revert. There is one file not updated called "1024" version in the code but the file doesn't seem to be maintained well, so its possible that this is not a very popular/universal resolution for displays.

*** IF YOU NEED YO CHANGE TO CUSOM FIRMWARE ITS SUGGESTED TO STAY AT 02.02.2021 and not March update as they have made changes abs specifically changed wifi drivers and some devices are failing after moving to this firmware! ***

If you downloaded and like the theme, all i ask if that you like this post to show your appreciation!

I don't think that is the case. I am in the Philippines which is not listed in the carplay feature availability list that you linked and I am able to use Carplay on my vehicle, been using it for several years now.

My very first Carlinkit device back in 2018 was the USB CPC200-CMAP version [refer to post #5903] which I connected to my 3rd party WinCE Headunit on my previous vehicle, which was a Chevy Cruze, to enable wired Carplay.

On another note "AUTOKIT" is also the name of the app used on Android and WinCE Headunits for Carlinkit CPC200-CMAP [wired carplay and AA] and Carlinkit CPC200-Autokit-Pro [wired/wireless Carplay and wired AA].

*** this is the Autokit app interface for Android/WinCE headunits that do not have Carplay/AA from factory***

I think I've gone thru all Carlinkit dongle versions, including the U2W USB Type A versions [aka CPC200-U2W and U2W-01-PLUS] and now the current Type C version aka CPC200-U2W-Plus.

I downloaded the 2 files and put them on a usb stick and put it in an already flashed AUTOKIT firmware Carlinktit V2 device and it works. Nice new graphics.

I have a VW Passat B8 with MIB2 discover media system with upgraded 6.5 --> 8 inch screen.
