CarPlay CarPlay adapter to convert to wireless CarPlay?

My very first Carlinkit device back in 2018 was the USB CPC200-CMAP version [refer to post #5903] which I connected to my 3rd party WinCE Headunit on my previous vehicle, which was a Chevy Cruze, to enable wired Carplay.


On another note "AUTOKIT" is also the name of the app used on Android and WinCE Headunits for Carlinkit CPC200-CMAP [wired carplay and AA] and Carlinkit CPC200-Autokit-Pro [wired/wireless Carplay and wired AA].

I think I've gone thru all Carlinkit dongle versions, including the U2W USB Type A versions [aka CPC200-U2W and U2W-01-PLUS] and now the current Type C version aka CPC200-U2W-Plus.

Thank you for your reply, yes i can confirm it's not because my indonesian iphone 12 , because today i go to mazda dealer and try wireless carplay from new cx9, and my iphone connect nicely to mazda wireless carplay.

so this is dogle problem not my phone problem.

what happens when you connect using a lightning cable?

HeadUnit > CPlay2Air > Lightning Cable > iPhone 12

maybe it needs a little "nudge" to make your iPhone 12 and dongle recognize each other. if carplay launches wired passing thru the dongle, then remove the lightning cable and then see if wireless carplay activates?

If that doesn't work, try to do a "forced reboot" on your iPhone 12.

hello I bought the carlinkit u2w + after an update it remained red and no more connection I can no longer access the site 192.168.50.2 I received a firmware that I put on a 16 gb usb key formatted and renamed the file and nothing happens the light remains red can you help me sorry for my english

1) USB Stick
2) U2W Dongle running Custom AUTOKIT FW
3) Brain.

Theme fully supports 3 resolutions:

1) 800x480
2) 1920x720
3) 1280x720

If you don't have a compatible resolution you will see everything out of place and it will look like the current ugly interface. It will still work and you can either revert. There is one file not updated called "1024" version in the code but the file doesn't seem to be maintained well, so its possible that this is not a very popular/universal resolution for displays.

One question is it possible to change the word "Phone"at the top in eg Iphone Carplay or Iphone from "naam".

Hi,

That is part of your head unit / from your vehicle manufacturer.

I can only control elements within the grey background.

Also, it's weird that your listboxes and BT search are not centered properly.

I tested this on my 800x480 and it looked fine. Weird.

Ok, but if I connect my Iphone directly with cable at the Carplay , the top is mentioned as my first photo "Iphone van Danny" so probably the name "Phone" is stored in the dongle?

That is lists of connected devices, this is pulled from your device. Settings > General > About > Name

Change is as you want.

Not sure why the elements are not centered, need to wait to see if others have the same issue. I tested 800x480 on my headunit and it was fine.
 
Now, 'Phone' that is pulled from the dongle. The dongle emulates an Iphone being connected. My U2W cays 'iPhone' your CPLAY2AIR must show 'Phone' Either way it can't be changed without modifying system files on the dongle

Yes this stored in the dongle. It will not pass the real device name. I am investigating how to change all these names but it seems like its hardcoded in the binary,

Think i saw some config files where wifi name and there is some files that show were the car play emulation is.

Two questions -
1) I'm on the VLud custom firmware 2021.03.06 red Autokit UI, but my original device color was the green UI. Is this what you mean by Autokit Custom Firmware, or do you mean devices that came default with the red UI out of the box? I have one of each kind.
2) How do I know what resolution my screen is to make sure it'll work?

As long as current UI is red it will work.

You can roll back if there are issues. Even without the ui.tar.gz the dongle will still boot just with a black screen. worst case you can revert using my script or SFTP into the device and copy the ui.tar.gz back to /usr/sbin

As long as you have AUTOKIT CUSTOM Firmware installed when you install theme, it will work.

It will automatically pick the correct resolution, if it is an unsupported resolution you will see the same UI you see now but it will be blue, just a ugly interface, with elements whereever they are by default.
