Some adaptors overload the "return to car UI" menu button to return to a phone selection screen. I wish the Carlinkit did this. We also disable the auto-connect, but only really need it disabled in the weekends when we're both in the car!

custom vlud fw fixes it. i have w205. also background mode stops it from booting to black screen

Hey gang, I have posted a lot in this thread, but not for a while as everything is working well with my Maserati. That said, I am trading it in for a BMW. I don't recall much success here with BMW's and they aren't listed as supported, but thought I would ping the audience to see if there are any BMW's owners with success. It's an M550i and has wired carplay.

hi i am running U2W_Update_2020.11.10.2138_ROLLBACK.img on my CPlay2air. After doing the rollback i figured i would give this image a try. it works sometime but about 50% of the tie i get the "..." on bootup. from reading the thread it sounds like the Custom Feb 2021 image is preferred. Should i be installing the autokit one here? i wasnt sure if carlinkit is the same as cplay2air. do i have a 12mb rootFS?
Every single BMW has had wireless CarPlay since the 2017 model year. Mini actually got it first, but it was hidden in the software until BMW released it for their own cars. If you have a July 2016 or later Mini with the large screen you have Wireless CarPlay, just disabled in the software. Can be re-enabled with a tweak.
I've spoken with the factory and they have advised to please go to 192.168.50.2 and change the setting to compatibility mode, set start up delay to 2 seconds and please report if stable? Please can you confirm if you are using Green UI or Red UI
Just a reminder that if you do not see the web page inclusive of the cog wheel icon for the Settings then close the browser, delete the cache and try again.
Hi Mike, I'm already on vluds FW. But the reboot is not a major issue for me. Usually I drive less than 2 hours

Edit: Ok what do I need to do to get the settings button? All I see is the home button and language selection. I’m running 2020.11.10.2137. My web interface says that’s the current one. Not sure how to get the March 2021 update.

I think that must be in a newer firmware. Mine doesn’t have that. But when I try to update it says I’m on the most current one.
I keep trying the USB update method to the March 2021 update but the update never takes. I get a red light when it power on but it never starts flashing after I plug in the USB drive.
edit: Finally got the update to work via USB. Now I'm on the March 2021 firmware and see that option. I was able to disable auto-connect and everything works just as I hoped. Thank you!

That would be a killer feature. My Honda has another button on the screen that can exit me out of CarPlay, so I never use that button in CarPlay. Hope Carlinkit implements that at some point. What other adapters do you know of that do that?

They are still working on enabling center cluster metadata… so if your vehicle shows carplay metadata on other screens the MMB don’t might not support it yet.

I have tried to get in contact with Carlinkit, but till now it is unsuccesfull. Did anyone succeed to get in contact with them lately and so yes, via which channel? I have tried mail (sales@carlinkit.com), Whatsapp (as advertised on carlinkit.com) and the chat on Aliexpress (the store).
For future reference, you often need to close the browser and delete the cache, then connect again before checking for updates or even in some cases to see the enhanced settings options.

Looks like i've been out of the loop for a while. I keep seeing people reference custom firmware. Should I be running custom firmware for better performance or more features?

I've finally joined the custom FW game, moved onto 2021-03-06 and all is good, I was going to move over to the auto kit version to use tyre guys theme but see I missed that party, is there any benefit to the auto kit version other that that? I've got two V2.0 devices that run it fine but I prefer the original theme.

its been an option for last ~10 updates , some tine its just a bug with a browser..
recently my Carplay getting stuck in night mode for maps ... thinking its night on the middle of the day
only i can't remember if its started after 3.6 update or last IOS update ...
i have 2 cars and 3 devices , red, green and custom apple all on 3.6...
unplug and plug it back fixes it
