Yep every flash drive has been freshly formatted as FAT32 and I even did a Diskpart Clean on them to remove all partitions. Wonder if I got a dud.

I had to try 7 drives before i found one that worked. Had to format on a windows computer too.

Well It shows up as an iPhone. Guess I'll play the flash drive game a bit more. Thanks!
It is possible it’s already on the new OTA firmware. Unfortunately you won’t know this until you plug it into a working vehicle. Once on the new firmware USB method will never work.

Hmm. Well I guess I'll have to see if I can use friend's cars and see if the dongle works there...

This just popped up in the updates. For anyone with a Volvo. Sadly does not help me and my Mercedes.

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2019 And this does not work. Its stays on connecting screen and goes no where. Im waiting on a reply from the seller for a refund.

You’re lucky that yours even gets to that screen. My car barely ever manages to load that screen up. Once in a blue moon the screen appears.

While its on that screen unplug and restart (guessing you tried that) but just in case you didn’t.

Also delete the WiFi and Bluetooth connections on your phone and re-pair

My car uses the same uconnect system. When you get in the car don’t touch the screen. Wait a little and it’ll connect on its own and go to the screen.

To the uconnect people. Disconnect the dongle but make sure your not on the carplay/phone screen. Move to radio or something else. Then plug it back in and don’t touch the screen. Wait for a minute and see what happens. Here’s my video on this.

One interesting question: do you have a "Carplay" button on UConnect at all times or only when an iPhone is plugged?

On another note: no reply from "michael".... oh well...

CarPlay button is there only when a wire or the carplay2air dongle is plugged in.

Version 11.11 works well on Volvo XC60!

But heard phone calls etc were not good. Even though I had not actualyl tested this myself I decided to upgrade.

Seems to take a while now to connect to bluetooth, then wifi and then in?
1) Does this sound about right? Was it just bluetooth before?
2) Why do I love the risk of a beta? :(

Love it when established though!

I received my second Carplay2Air unit today. The first unit I've been running in the Audi Q7 and it works fine, but have not yet updated the software on that one. This new unit I am running in my Audi RS3 and decided to do the OTA firmware update. All works fine so far, all functionality and behaviour is the same as my wired CarPlay experience including showing CarPlay artist/music information in the Audi Virtual Cockpit.

Initial connection times seem fine also. There is no noticeable lag in the general CarPlay UI. Skipping music tracks probably takes .5 sec, not a big deal, but ever so slightly slower than wired.

I'll report back after I've had more usage.

Today I started up my car (CarPlay2Air was connected and working). But I ran back to my house to get something I needed (with my iPhone with me). When I got back into the car, it wasn't working (I assume i lost the wifi connection when I was in the house.

My question is this...is there anything i can do to get it to re-connect without having to turn off the car and then turning on the car again or(possibly) pull the dongle out and then plug it in again??

Pull the adapter out and put back in again

What MY RS3 do you have? And what version are you running on the module?

I still have some slight lag in skipping tracks on my 2018 RS3.

Greetings from the UK.... I found this thread a few days ago, whilst looking at wireless carplay adaptors.

I bought a Carlinkit "wireless carplay activator" for my 2017 Audi S4 with factory (wired) carplay. I got it from Aliexpress - shipped to the UK in less than two weeks, and I paid about £82 GBP for it - a bargain in my view.

(Here's the link if anyone's interested: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33046258222.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.45674c4ddE2kfm )

It works very well indeed - I'm surprised at how good it is in fact. It's running the 2019.11.11 software release - not a hint of Chinese text anywhere (which I was prepared for!) and no issues, no problems, no lag (that I can detect), it's great.

Previously I've been running wired carplay for many months, which had obviously improved with iOS13 and the ability to use Waze, with dark mode and split screens etc. This Carlinkit dongle thing works exactly the same - it's plug and play and everything seems to work exactly as it did when wired. I can now use my Qi charger and just drop the iPhone (11 Pro Max running latest iOS 13.2.3 ) in the arm rest - perfect!

Here's a few pics from my car:

when you exit your car, does it tell you that your cell phone is still in the car? I’m wondering if I could still have that function turned on? Thanks.
