TO ALL MAZDA OWNERS: DO NOT UPDATE YOUR INFOTAINMENT FIRMWARE TO THE NEWEST 74.00.230A. I updated it and now my wireless CarPlay (March firmware) is no longer responding.

If your Mazda CMU version is between v.70.00.100 and v.70.00.367, the U2W firmware 03.06.2021 works fairly well.
If your CMU is updated to the latest v.74.00.230, U2W does not support it. All you get is a black screen after your iPhone connects to the U2W on 03.06.2021.
I found two workaround methods for the MAZDA v.74 and U2W 03.06.2021 black screen:
1. Wait for the scree to go black. Make sure your car is at a complete stop and it is safe to change gears. Shift to the reverse to bring up the reverse camera, then shift back to drive or park. The carplay will come back to the screen.
2. Wait for the screen to go black. Connect your iPhone to the U2W with a lightning cable. The carplay will come back to the screen. You can disconnect the cable if you like.

mercedes cla owner here, it still keeps crashing every 2 minutes on any firmware (custom or factory)...
does anyone have a solution?

On Mazda .74, it no longer recognized my csrlinkit no matter what I did so I downgraded my Mazda firmware.

If anyone has a CPlay2Air adapter and is having issues with their Ford Sync system, please email
support @ carplay2air.reamaze.com without the spaces between the @. I am going back and forth with them and they say that I am the first issue they have seen. I have tried multiple adapters with multiple 2021 Ford vehicles and get the same result.

Got my Carlinkit 2.0 red UI (3.0?) from Amazon today. Initial setup and operation was flawless. No audio stutter, minimal UI lag. So far so good. I will NOT be checking for any firmware updates for this unit. It works, so no update needed. Now comes the real test...how will it work longer term. My original CPlay2Air also started out OK, but then eventually went south (helped by my compulsion to do unnecessary FW updates). I will say that the connect sequence for this unit seems more polished than the old CPlay2Air box I had. So fingers crossed, and we'll see. Again...this is in a 2017 Fiat 124 Spider with the AA/CarPlay upgrade from Mazda. It has a new USB hub and cables, and I have Mazda software 70.00.100 NA N.

Part of the issue with v.74 software could be that it incorporates native support for Mazda wireless CarPlay. If you have v.74 and a 2021 model Mazda CMU that supports wireless CarPlay (not all of them do), there is no need for an exterrnal box like a Carlinkit or CPlay2Air. The car will have wireless CarPlay by default. Attempting to run a Carlinkit, or CPlay2Air may be conflicting with the built-in OEM wireless CarPlay functionality in the v.74 software.

i have a 2020 Edge with sync 3 updated. And I use my wireless carplay without issues.

I’ve had my carlinkit 2.0 for 3 months now and have begun experiencing a black screen with red font that reads “Hardware error”. This error has occurred about three times in the past week. Sometimes my Mazda CX-5 doesn’t even recognize the device. I have to unplug about 3 times sometimes to get it to work. I wonder if it had anything to do with the rising temperatures here in Southern California?

Siri Crash issue on Ford Sync using CarLink Kit / CarPlay2Air? Follow this guide to solve the issue.

In order to solve this issue you need to downgrade to August Firmware Version that works flawlessly on Fond Sync at 100%. But, if you are here, you probably have updated your dongle at the latest March version so unfortunately the downgrade won't be possibile anymore.

But the amazing @VLud Job made this possible again. With this little guide you will need to rollback two times but if you follow exactly all the steps, it will be super easy.

First Step: Let's Downgrade to December version

You need to download this file and to rename it in "U2W_Update.img" (no quotes, of course).
  1. Please save update firmware file on USB flash drive (Flash drive format must be FAT32)
NOTE: In case the file has no extension, kindly put it in this .img
  2. Plug the flash drive into the CPLAY2air / CarLink Kit adapter.
  3. Plug CPLAY2air / CarLink Kit to the USB power charger/wall charger for your iPhone. Please don’t use the USB port of the car or computer!!
  4. Please wait 2-3 minutes, until the the flashing light becomes solid (when you will see red and green lights flashing it's a good sign! Then Wait for the solid red light)
  5. Please unplug the adapter from the USB charger and remove the USB flash drive from the adapter.
  6. Please now plug the product into the USB port of the car.
  7. Please wait until the new window will appear on the vehicle's screen.
  8. Connect your phone to the Bluetooth network which is shown on the screen.
  9. Wait for the new interface to appear on the screen.
Now, please check this firmware version. Probably Siri still won't work. If so, let's downgrade to the August Firmware version. Download this file:
https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireles...mware/U2W_Update_2020.08.04.1602_ROLLBACK.img

We need now to follow the same steps as above BUT we need to rename the files in this way, this time: "U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img" (always no quotes)

Take the usb stick, delete the old file, put inside the new one and follow the same steps.

You will downgrade at a fully working version for Ford Sync. And, of course, DON'T UPDATE ANYMORE!!!
Hello, I found this forum and post in an attempt to get my Carlinkit 2.0 to work. I just purchased it. I think it is the Red UI. I have a 2020 Ford Expedition running Sync 3.4 version 21020. I am experiencing the Siri crash but otherwise works. I tried to follow these instructions to downgrade to the December and then August versions. But unfortunately when I plug in the USB to the Carlinkit dongle it does nothing. I have a USB and renamed the file to U2W_Update.img. It is formatted FAT32 and there is nothing else but this file on the USB drive. What am I missing??
Thanks!!

Try to reset the cplay2air.

Folks,
I received a couple of sharing requests for the Issue Log, which was odd because it was set to global Edit rights. Anyway, fixed it now so please go ahead to add your updates - thank you!

I have a 2020 A class and found the 02.02 firmware to be the most stable.
I am using the custom one here:

What issue are you reporting? I've emailed back and forth 59 times (actual count) since 2/26/2021 about my 2020 Explorer crashing every time I say "Hey Siri". Same adapter works great in my 2019 F150.

Aren't the CarPlay2Air and Carlinkit devices the same units internally? I've applied Carlinkit firmware to my CarPlay2Air...

Carlinkit has significantly more RAM, I believe. CarPlay2Air as a result does not support the red AutoKit UI.

The red UI only needs more disk space. The difference is the partitioning. Those with red UI need 12MB data partition for the root FS. Others have ~10 (with more space for kernel and bootloader). @VLud wrote earlier that Carlinkit tried repartitioning older devices via FW update but bricked quite some of them as a consequence.

Is there an centralized organized library to find and download what the current most functional FW is per vehicle? I have a Toyota Avalon and Highlander and haven’t seen updates over the air since January.

I am reporting that any time I try to use anything requiring the microphone (siri, google maps search by voice, messages, etc) it crashes and reboots the adapter.

I got mine working on both my 2021 F-450 and 2021 Bronco Sport with Sync 3.4 by going back to the 2020.08.04 firmware.

I followed the instructions on the following post (#6509) except I renamed the 2020.08.04 update to U2W_Update.img as well. I found that it is somewhat picky on USB drives and I had to reformat my drive between each one. I used FAT32 with 1024 when formatting.

Here is a fix for anyone that is seeing the "Hardware Error: Wi-Fi"

I have a solid red light on my v2 no brand that has red menu on.

I’ve tried the above video but as soon as I plug it in, I just get a solid red LED, that’s on car or a USB charger

Anyone know of any fixes for this?

The 08.04 firmware is what I use in my Ford Edge 2020 with sync 3.4 and works good

No, there is no library organised by vehicle, but if you check the Issue Log (link in my signature) you may find some relevant data.

Over The Air updates are often not visible unless you close your web browser, empty the cache, and again browse to the adapter IP. But as they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
