First delete any prior bluetooth instance it may have found in the past. Then, connect the dongle by usb to your iphone. After you establish a wired connection, disconnect the usb from your iphone. This step should bring you to carplay2air screen where you should be able to establish a bluetooth connection. Once connected, open safari and type in the following address to update the dongle: 192.168.58.2

This worked for me and the latest update has now connected 3 times upon starting the car.
I’ve already done all that prior to posting my last message (mentioned few pages back). The dongle is still struggling to initiate.

Sorry, I didn’t see your prior posts. Have you tried establishing a bluetooth connection while still connected by USB? I was able to do that! If that works you will be connected wirelessly even though you are technically wired. You can tell this has worked by looking at your wifi connection which will show a connection to mercedes

I forgot to mention, after establishing a wired connection, go to your bluetooth settings to see if it finds the dongle and if it does tap on it to force the bluetooth connection

Just got this dongle today and it was working until I did the update through the browser. Update said 100% complete and then the system just never worked again. Solid red light and the car doesn't recognize it anymore. Does anyone know how to restore the device?

Also just got my Carlinkit today. It’s still on the old 11.11 build. Everything is pretty seamless on my Audi Q5 2019 except for the audio showing “Unknown” on the dash and a small delay when skipping track (strangely album art changes instantly, audio coming in about a sec later). Interested to hear from other Audi MMI users, should I bother upgrading to the new firmware? cc @MrShades @thaben.

@MrShades you had the audio track issue showing “Unknown“ in the VC. Is this fixed?

Anyone else just get a response from a “Julie” (of CarPlay2air)? Has “Michael” disappear from this whole debacle?

yeah no worries. And yep I’ve done everything you mentioned. Can only get connected via Bluetooth/wifi maybe 1/10 times (if lucky)

Unfortunately you cannot

All. Quick question. Does anyone know what is the carlinkkit equivalent to carplay2air on amazon. ? There seems to be like 50 models on amazon and I’m not sure which one it is.
Thanks

I’m beginning to wonder if it needs a good cellular signal to connect as it often fails in my drive but connects easily when not at home. My cell signal is bad at home.

If it does need it you have to ask why. It should be standalone and not be communicating with a server.

Could it be because when you’re in your drive, your phone connects to the home WiFi rather than the Carplay WiFi?

Don’t think so the BT connection does something to tell the phone to use the other WiFi.

What’s best way to delete and start again with the new firmware?

I know there is a new firmware from 23rd Dec so want to try, but mine has never ever worked anyway.

I can’t see any Bluetooth or WiFi showing anything to do with the dongle (CarLinkIt), so can’t delete them.

All I get is red LED and nothing on car screen it connection on iPhone.

As mentioned before, the ONLY way forward for you is to plug it into a vehicle it does work in. So far, Mitsubishi and Vauxhall are incompatible. Using a car it does work in will allow the firmware upgrade.

I’ve had it where it shows no screen whatsoever (after initial new FW upgrade), even though wasn’t on screen, it connected to dongle WiFi and I was able to view update screen and got whatever FW it was then.

I was hoping to try this way again and get the latest FW to see if any difference (very very doubtful)

This may have already been answered, but let me ask this question. How do you check/update the firmware via the 192.168.50.2 website. I have a 2018 Porsche that I updated the firmware via this website two weeks ago using the USB firmware download method. It is my understanding this method can no longer be done and I would now like to check if a new firmware version is available.

When you are linked to carplay open the browser on your connected phone, make sure mobile data is on then refresh the web address. It should go check the site for new firmware.

Thanks, got the updated firmware.

You want the CPC200-U2W - which they often call the “Wireless CarPlay activator for vehicles with factory wired CarPlay” (or something very similar to that!)

It’s different to the CPC200-Autokit version.

For those who have trouble establishing a connection, I've found -- with 100% certainty in my case -- that my phone has to be unlocked before it will establish a connection. If its locked, it will keep looping "waiting for connection" and "connecting". It then connects after I unlock the phone with Face ID or my PIN. I am on the old 11.11 firmware and the latest iOS.

Is this the case for anyone else?

I can't believe a 2019 AUDI would not have wireless car play! unreal... why would this be?
They have wireless carplay on models with new gen MMI, including Q3, Q8, etc but they're taking their time upgrading the system on their best-selling model such as Q5 and Q7. Sad, really.

Nope
