CarPlay CarPlay adapter to convert to wireless CarPlay?

Does anyone have 2021 Ottocast U2-NOW? - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B098Q18K8S

It has a bright green UI and is the fastest in connecting to my car. But sometimes, the car gets stuck in 'Activating device..' stage.

The latest firmware seems to be 2021.06.21.1624 and am not sure which custom firmware to try.

Yeah AliExpress to U.K. - it was around £40 with shipping and taxes. Ordered on 16th and turned up today so just over a week to get here.

No idea what micro sd card Slot is for yet.

Looks pretty good!

I think we saw that interface on anothrr unit time ago on this thread.

I'm pretty insterested on seeing if it holds up without freezing like carplay units does seem to do.


ps. I got one, just 35€ vat included... if it works it's a steal at this price 🤭

I haver no idea.
I guess we'll have to wait and see until somebody dismantles a Carlinkti Mini to see the internals.
There might be a port inside for flashing purposes.

Or maybe they simply removed the USB port to keep people from flashing custom fw onto it. hehe
 
So looks like there is an “official” CrLinkIt Mini, whereas the Aliexpress one above is a copy? Has different web address UI as well.

Wondering if I should take a punt on the copy, as it’s half the price of CarLinIt. Although I was burned with rhe CarLinikIt v2 cheapo’s on Amazon UK, that is now a brick…..
 
More than a copy it does seem to be a different product with different firmware and features (this other one seems to support casting as it can be seen on the boot screen).

Low price might just be because it's new and needs to get a bit of market.

There is MMB box? that allows playing video on the screen I believe. I wonder if the SD slot is for this purpose. Is that what you mean by casting?

I’ve not managed to get the casting to work - it says to tap in the top right of the screen to enable but no luck so far.

I would say it’s a different product completely- UI seems completely different rather than just a rebrand of the ones we know.

Ah ok, so what is this supposed to do? Airplay a video from iPhone to the screen, as in a film etc?

I’ve read somewhere about an MMB that allowed you to play films from an attached USB memory.

Is there a website or manual for download or anything to try and find out? The other video of official CarLinkIt had a little manual.

Is your update server still not working either?

Maybe double tapping the car select button? Since your Carplay is inverted due to the driving position, maybe is the top left?

Or might not even be implemented in the firmware yet... theres no mention of it on the product page.

I think they sell fakes alot, i got a brick from aliexpress too. Opened it up and has other parts inside vs v2 version that worked well.

The Amazon cheapo worked for a few months, then just stopped one day. Solid red LED.

I’ve ordered a mini copy from above was £36, better not be a fake as in doesn’t work though! What are Aliexpress like for Tom’s like that?
 
At least it's not 100% copying the Carlinkit units, different interface (both on the radio and the web interface, even different IP to connect to it), different case... all of this makes me feel it's not a fake carlinkit copy but a different device.

Aliexpress is good but there are lot of shaddy sellers that may try to scam you on the refund/return process if defective. Stay in the aliexpress ecosystem by opening a dispute and do not accept any request to close it from the seller. Follow Ali's rules on dispute claims and everything will be fine.

Interesting to see how you guys get on with the GUI - I don’t seem to be able to do anything with the web gui now since updating to the latest version - other than that it seems to be working well.
