with the new 43.0.10 firmware I also tested Airplay for my Pododo. I can say: it works now perfectly! But you have to check the Wi-Fi connection and switch off the low-data mode.
Just wondering if "Pododo" was a typo or a quip...

True to say though that once working reliably it is transformative ?

HI,

First time poster here. I've just purchased a used Carlinkit 2.0 clone (looks the same, comes in the same box, just without the Carlinkit branding) and it seems to work fine in my VW Golf (which is what the original owner used it in too) but it has the 30 second reboot issue in my wife's 2019 Mazda CX-5 with the older Connect interface, which is what I primarily bought it for.

According tot he web interface, it came with 2021.07.04.2222 firmware and I saw that the 2021.01.28 and 2021.03.06 firmwares were both reported to work with Mazdas that have the slightly older system.

I tried to roll back the firmware to 2020.11.10 rollbak image on the ludwig-v github page but it wouldn't work (no flashing LED) so I tried the 2020.08.04 rollback, which did work. However, after the rollback, the version on the web UI said 2020.11.10! I then flashed the 2021.03.06 firmare, which seemed to work but after the flash the UI reported version 2021.07.04 again. I rolled it back again and flashed the 02021.01.28 image and, again, the UI reported 2021.07.04.

Unfortunately, my wife is not at home so I can't check if the unit will now work in her car without the 30 second reboot but has anyone else seen this sort of behaviour?

Hey guys!
Does anyone use Carlinkit Mini? I tried to update the firmware and the device stopped responding. It doesnt even turn on the LEDs! Since I'm an electrical engineer, I opened the device and found an USB interface. Then, I soldered an USB A female connector and I tried to upload a rollback firmware. I didn't work tho.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

Okay, further to my previous post, I've noticed that, regardless of which firmware I flash, the version number in the web UI will say either VER:2020.11.10.2137 | Size:7.46MB or VER.2021.07.04.2222 | Size:0.58MB, it won't show any other firmare versions, even if I use a rollback earlier than 2020.11.10 (the 2020.11.10 rollback won't initiate the flashing process) or flash a firmware earlier than 2020.11.10.

Would flashing an AUTOKIT firmware and then taking it back to a early non-AUTOKIT firmware help, as I'm not sure whether the rollback is working? After that I could try to take it through the updates until I get to 2021.01.28, which seems to be the first one that works with Mazda Connect systems, or will this process brick the unit?

Is there a consensus on the best CarPlay to wireless CarPlay adapter? I'm looking for one to use on my 2021 Honda CR-V.

Carlinkit 3.0 with 2021.08.24 firmware (red UI).

Even my Carlinkit 2.0 with 2021.08.30 (green UI) on Mercedes performs better than BMW factory Wireless CarPlay in terms of latency ?

It's been holiday time last week. So we have been driving around in our SEAT Leon Sportstourer FR for about 1000km with trips of up to 3 hours. We have been navigating (Google Maps) and listening to music (Apple Music, Spotify) via Carlinkit 2.0 adapter. There hasn't been a single hangup or reboot using FW 2021.08.24.1817. Only one time did I have to replug the adapter due to audio becoming a bit choppy, probably because of buffer underruns due to the media delay being set to its lowest value of 300ms.

So the thing is pretty stable. The only thing that I would like to see improved further is media and phone call lag. And yes, Mercedes MBUX is known to have a tremendous lag over wireless CarPlay, even worse then most factory wired CarPlay integrations together with a Carlinkit adapter.

Rount-trip time when calling an echo test number is around 700ms with VW MIB2 wired CarPlay integration. The adapter adds another 300ms, resulting in 1000ms. ~500ms delay per direction is quite a lot. So there is some talking over each other every now and then which is indeed a bit annoying.

Hi,

As of later releases of Custom Firmware I am seeing a CFW.patch in the repo. What is this for?

I flashed to the latest version of Custom Firmware 08/2021 using just the u2w.sh and ARMimg_maker did I need to do anything with the CFW.patch file?

I recall the CPU scaling and Logging was disabled directly in the custom firmware .img has this changed?

Do I need to do anything further to apply the patches?

New version shows up when I execute the update query:

Code:
${"filePath":"\/mnt\/downloads\/2021-07-26\/U2W_AUTOKIT_Update_2021.07.05.2319.img","fileSize":"10195755","fileName":"U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img","version":"2021.07.05.2319","updateTime":"2021-08-10 14:40:44","updateLog":"Fix some bugs\nDo not unplug the box when upgrading, please wait for the box to restart automatically"}

Weird thing is that the date is prior to the FW already installed on my adapter (2021.08.24.1817).

Ah, it looks like they pulled 2021.08.24.1817. 2021.07.05.2319 is the previous one, see here.

Carlinkit 3.0 is on sale for $54.92 with coupon code: CPC40 at LightningBox
Thanks. I just ordered one from them. Is there anyway I can tell whether is it indeed 3.0 version, or 2.0 once I receive it? I checked the previous posts. 3.0 uses broadcom chip and 2.0 uses realtek. Is there anyway I can check which chip it is using other than open it?

Another option seems that, 2.0 uses N wifi and 3.0 uses AC. iOS doesn't have an option to show the WIFI protocol when it is connected? I can use an Android device to check?

Is there any easier way to tell which one I use?

Just test Podofo on my Mazda 3 with MZD today.

- Boot time faster than Carlinkit.
- When MZD display "Apple Carplay Failed", Device will reconnect and start Carplay in a few seconds. No need to pull USB cable off.
- I've drove for 40 & 40 min, no problem at all. Carplay works fine everytime.
- No lag when receive incoming Call.

- Still not have a chance to drive for a hours to test device stability.

However at this point, I'm so satisfy with this and this is better than Carlinkit for sure for Mazda MZD.
Since Carlinkit will crash if you drive for a hours and it happened for a year without fix.

Update: Today I drove for 1:15 hours still no problem.

I just tried a Podofo box on my 2019 Mazda MX-5. I got nowhere. I plugged the unit into the Mazda USB port and got a green light on the unit, but I was never able to make it appear on my iPhone 12 Max Pro list of bluetooth devices. That stopped me from getting any further. Any suggestions? (I have been using Carlinkit with only rare instances of losing the connection and having to re-connect. I hoped the Podofo unit would start up faster.)

I just received the carlinkit 3.0 mini. It does not have usb-a port, only one usb-c. So it cannot use a flash drive to flash the firmware. Not sure if a y-splitter cable works or not.

I set fps to 40 and media delay to 1000ms. This morning, when I cold start my car, my carplay cannot be started. Reset it through the link and worked now.

Firmware is the latest, 2021 August.

I may need to exchange it for a regular 3.0 with a Usb-a port.

I can confirm that with my CPlay2Air and the latest version of OTA that's available the adapter now works on my Acura TLX 2021. The adapter is at 2021.07.05.2319. That's after checking for updates numerous times (since there were two other updates that had to run before I got to this version). So I think they pulled the August release. But very happy I now have a functioning purchase, almost a year to the date of purchase! Now I'm just learning how to fine tune the media delay. 300ms was working up until I had a phone call. The phone call was fine but once the music resumed it was choppy like a scratched CD. Adjusting the media delay to 500ms seems to be the best spot. I set the power on delay to 10s, otherwise it was starting up weird by the time the car "wakes up". Hopefully I can continue to leave it connected as a "set it and forget it" like I've been wanting to do this whole time.
