Late to the party ... will any of the wireless Carplay dongles work with the Sony XAV-AX1000 stereo? (In a 2008 Ford Escape, if that matters). I love CarPlay but am getting tired of plugging & unplugging. Thanks.
Same here, but if I understand there aren’t wireless dongles for third part CarPlay sources, them works only for oem car’s system.

Hi Guys I'm new here, just wondering whether anyone has success using Wireless Carplay device on a 2019/2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross factory CarPlay.

US $44.39 45% Off | Podofo Wired to Wireless Carplay Dongle USB For Apple phone For Refit Screen Mirroring Navigation Player Smart Link Box Map DSP
Thank you for that link! Looks like the same seller, though, so I am not going to try re-ordering until I receive their refund... don't know why they wouldn't cancel this one also, looks like the same box I ordered from them, just a different link (and the price is almost the same if not the same).

I don't have a Sony but the CarLinkit adapter works with my third party Pioneer.
So does the Cheerdriving adapter.
It all comes down to trying one for yourself so buy from someplace with a good return policy.

Today I received a Podofo Wireless CarPlay adapter directly from Podofo and the Mercedes-Benz version 43.0.10 was on is. Does the Mercedes-Benz version also works with other manufacturers or only with Mercedes-Benz cars? Any experiences on that?

Let us know when you have tested it? ?

Hi All,

I just received my Carlinkit 3.0 unit and it seems to be working for the most part, but I have had connection issues sometimes and can be laggy.

What colour should the LED be when it’s running in the car? Mine it’s flashing green…

Also it seems to still get power when I turn off the car, I left it for a while and it was flashing green still, went back after a few minutes and it was red, so seemed to be getting power from the car still.

I’ve checked and it says it’s running the latest firmware (ver:2021.08.24.1817)

I have a 2012 Escape with a Sony XAV-AX100. It works with both the Carlinkit 3.0 and the CPlay2Air.

I bough the CPlay2Air first because they emailed me directly to tell me that it works with my head unit. I had issues getting it to work (their tech support was no help) but found this forum thread had the answer :update the firmware using a USB drive first (CPlay2Air's support never suggested this). I think I had initial success with the August 2020 firmware, later versions had reliability issues. I also had to set a boot delay in the settings because at first it wouldn't work properly when I turned the car on, but I could get it to work if I connected it after turning on the car.

The Carlinkit seems a little faster and more reliable, however their tech support was also pretty poor. I didn't have to change any settings to get it to work.

I'm so close to buying one of these to give it a try.

I am driving a Chevrolet and I would love to be able to plug in the dongle to USB and then have it connect wirelessly each time I get in the car.

I wish this was an Amazon Prime item, I would buy test and return without reservation or fear!

Anyone try and get this working on Chevy yet?
"My brother has used U2W for over a year. It fit his 2019 Cruze well. For me - wireless was important enough to me to overlook any negatives or shortcomings.
I have recently purchased the U2W Plus for Lexus 2021. While it still has the latency issue (and I think any will) it has better hardware - faster CPU and more RAM and I have not had one hang or any other ill behavior. I am finding it definitely a “second generation” product when compared to the U2W ."

please tell me how to factory reset. because flashing the firmware does not delete the old configuration.
I reset last week, it works well now. But I wonder if your dongle is the same as mine?

1. You can scan the QR code on the product's manual and input 192.168.50.2 in your mobile browser to check.

2. Click the Settings button on the page, and then click the Reset button in the upper left corner of the Settings page.

Just saw this at Slickdeals
I have bought two and they both work and are 3.0. Now I need to find some poor soul to take my two 2.0s off of my hands.

Try rolling back to the March firmware and except for drives longer than an hour these versions work well for me.

Hi, i own a carlinkit 2.0. I’ve been using it for a year, but i noticed something weird. In certain places, always in the same point of a road inside my city and other point near a highway, it begins to be laggy, always in the same point of the road, but when i leave this poont some meters the connection works well again. Did someone notice this issue?

Cheers

I am experiencing a frustrating issue with my Carlinkit 3.0. I have a new 2022 Kia and when I turn off the engine and leave the car the adapter stays on, continuing to broadcast Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. My phone then stays connected, and consistently reconnects to it, while I’m in my house. This means my phone is always on CarPlay while I’m home. This prevents me from having video FaceTime calls and sends all audio output to the car by default. Manually switching to my home Wi-Fi network doesn’t last and the phone repeatedly switches over to the Carlinkit’s Wi-Fi network.

Has anyone seen this? I tried to ask Carlinkit if there was a setting that could fix this and they refused to provide support because I bought the dongle from Amazon.

The CarLinkIt adapter will stay active for as long as the USB socket into which it is plugged is active - this is a feature of your car keeping the entertainment system on, and not anything that can be detected or changed in the CarLinkIt adapter.

Many cars that keep the entertainment active will switch off when a door is opened or a timeout of several minutes occurs. It sounds like your timeout could be quite long - have you tested how long the phone remains connected to the car? Maybe there is a setting for the timeout that can be changed in the car entertainment settings?

What happens if you lock your car after you get out - does that end the wireless connection?

I have seen this issue too. In my case it happens in two concrete zones:
-leaving my work there are two roundabouts and in between there is a tunnel, quitting the second roundabout there is the access to the highway. When entering the highway I can see in Waze that the position of my car has a delay of a few seconds and it is still crossing the second roundabout
-almost arriving home there is a 300 meters tunnel followed by two short tunnels and then 900 meters later a big roundabout. It takes that 900 meters to get the Waze position synchronized with the real position of the car

I think it is related to use the GPS of the car instead of the iPhone’s one. I have a 2019 VW Golf and a 2.0 Carlinkit running 2021.03.06.

I use the same version as you, but on a Mazda 6. The problem in my case is that I even have disconnections and Carlinkit has to reconnect to my iPhone. I tried to change the delay, deactivate the car gps ..., but nothing improves the behavior of Carlinkit.

Mazdas do best with software version 2021.03.06. But Mazdas with the new infotainment system (Mazda Firmware 74.00.230 or later) continue to have problems with Carlinkint.

That's odd. Which firmware are you on?
My 2018 Kia does keep on powering the USB port (Carlinkit v2 LED red), but as soon as I open the door the Infotainment system goes into standby (screen goes black, but it doesn't need a full reboot when I start he car again) and disconnects CarPlay (and the iPhone disconnects from Carlinkit).
