What on earth am I doing wrong? I’m using the Ford SYNC 3 and the Carlinkit dongle crashes any time I try to use Siri. So I read earlier in this thread that the 08.04.2020 rollback file will fix this issue. But whenever I try to do the USB update method the dongle just doesn’t do anything. The filename is correct, the settings are FAT32/1,024 bytes and I’m plugging the usb drive in after the light on the dongle turns on.

Had this happened to anybody else? Were you able to figure out why it won’t work? Carlinkit won’t help me either because I didn’t purchase the dongle directly through them

I did the update with the special Mercedes version for cars 2020-2021 via Micro SD card and now the Podofo works on my Mercedes with MBUX. I hoped that maybe Podofo uses the full size of the screen but unfortunately not. Nevertheless, it uses the same size as the Carlinkit but it boots much fast.

Thanks. Is there also a possibility to update it online without a Micro SD Card f.e. via 192.168.50.2 as offered by Carlink?
192.168.0.1 works for the Podofo for more recent firmwares but I don’t think it worked for new Podofo out of the box.

Nice! Yeah the boot time is so much better in my Mazda CX-5 too. So far it’s really better than the carlinkit in every way except I’ve noticed an audio skip every now and then.

My Podofo adpter is the first adapter which works reliable in my Mercedes E-Clas from 2019. I tried also the Wireless Airplay function, but this works only for audio, video is not shown.
May be this is for interesst for somebody

Thanks. I just ordered one from them. Is there anyway I can tell whether is it indeed 3.0 version, or 2.0 once I receive it? I checked the previous posts. 3.0 uses broadcom chip and 2.0 uses realtek. Is there anyway I can check which chip it is using other than open it?

Another option seems that, 2.0 uses N wifi and 3.0 uses AC. iOS doesn't have an option to show the WIFI protocol when it is connected? I can use an Android device to check?

Is there any easier way to tell which one I use?
Just got my white one from this deal, it is a 3.0 confirmed using inssider to see AC 866mbps supported (my 2.0 showed 300mbps wireless N). Also it runs noticeably smoother than my 2.0 and promptly failed to connect on my drive home from work as is par for the course when it comes to a Carlinkit with Mazda MZD.

*Update*

Well the honeymoon is over and after a day and a half, it no longer works. Stays stuck on the connection screen and never shows the device in Bluetooth.

Rescinding my recommendation, but hey, if you do decide to get it, maybe you’ll luck out with a more than two day functioning device.

Good luck.

Just wanted to chime in my praises with the Podofo unit in my 2019 Mazda CX-5.

After following all the success stories (with the latest firmware version) with the notoriously fickle Mazda infotainment, I took a chance and ordered it to replace my Gen 1 CPlay2air box (worked, but only after unplugging/replugging every other engine start).

After only a two week wait from China, it arrived and thanks to the link graciously provided here, updated the firmware and with a short test, I’ve been blown away with the night/day difference between the two boxes.

They’re not lying when they say how fast this sucker is.

After the initial setup, once I turned the car off and let the box power down and then restarted, it took about 15-20 seconds to reconnect.

My old unit, once it decided to play nice with my car, would usually take about 45 seconds to a minute to connect.

Only played with it for a few minutes, but will test it out thoroughly on my commute tomorrow for any issues.

Note, that if you have a Mazda and you’re running the latest infotainment version 74.xx (pre Mazda Connect vehicles) you’ll need to downgrade the infotainment firmware before the box will be recognized (I downgraded to 70.00).

Thanks to everyone who has tested this box first and shared their success stories (and failures).

I would never have bothered without your feedback.

Cheers!

Glad to hear another success story. It’s worth noting that the 74.0 firmware Mazda was rolled for 2021 cx5s with wireless CarPlay’s and was never meant for our older models. That being said I know 74.0 made both the carlinkit and podofo incompatible with our vehicles. 70.0367a should be the working version.

Cheers!

Good info and glad it has stayed working for you.

Sadly, after a day and half, my unit has bit the dust (well I at least still get the connection screen, but no longer pops up under Bluetooth on my phone).

Oh well, you get what you pay for.

Back to the slower CPlay2air.

Strange. Maybe you can try deleting the connectbox from your carplay and Bluetooth and then try to pair it again?

Yeah, it was very strange.

One minute it worked and after a quick stop, only the connection screen would come up.

Deleted the CarPlay and Bluetooth profiles to start from scratch and it now refuses to be recognized.

Spent over an hour troubleshooting, before ceding defeat.

It was nice while it lasted (just believe I got a defective unit).

Glad you’re still actively looking out support wise and helping everyone with theirs.

Good work ?

Is the version 1203 newer than the 43.0.10 or is this version not compatible with the Podofo Connectbox adapter?
It should work with podofo I’ve been flashing every file update from cheerdriving without issue. And I think it’s just named 1203 as in December 03.

HI all, bought carlinkit v3.0 CPC200-U2W from Amazon seller Carlinkcit C. I have got a GLC 300 2021 with MBUX. My issue is whenever i start the car for the first time I will get a HARDWARE ERROR:BT and the dongle will not connect to MBUX. If i unplug it and plug it back again it will connect and work ok. I am on the latest firmware and even rolled back to the previous firmware OTA but this does not solve it. Curious if this has to do with MBUX not able to connect from cold to the dongle or if it has to do with the actual dongle when it boots up first time. Anyone experince something like this? Defeats the whole purpsoe if I have to plug-unplug this every time I start the car. Thanks

Hi,

I also have a MB but without MB UX

Soon as I upgraded to the latest version I started seeing the same BT error for the first time. I had it working for months with no issues. This all happened after I updated it. A reboot of the device fixes it.

I am going to roll back to Feb 2021 update that’s what I was using prior.

I don’t believe this is related in anyway to the car itself it seems that the BT driver on the device itself is not starting or crashing.

It doesn’t happen every time but happens at least once per week.

The only issue with the Feb 2021 update is that the dongle resets after about an hour.

Edit: before I pull the trigger on the roll back I set the adapter to “compatible” mode and set the boot delay to “2” (previously 0)

Either iOS 15, or my new iPhone 13 Pro or a Carlinkit firmware release has made my Carlinkit only connect to my old Mazdaconnect infotainment without issue about half the time... mostly not connecting during short trips, usually its OK in the morning. Due to this, I am going to try the Podofo unit - ordered one for ~$40 last week or so. I'll let the group know how it goes... I do hope Podofo is an authorized Cheerdriving OEM, and not just a copy cat.

Late to the party ... will any of the wireless Carplay dongles work with the Sony XAV-AX1000 stereo? (In a 2008 Ford Escape, if that matters). I love CarPlay but am getting tired of plugging & unplugging. Thanks.

I have been using the Carliink kit 3.0 and it was working well, lent the car to a friend and now having issues, seems its trying to connect to his phone which is not present, when the system try to boot I see my phone listed and also his with an option to select phone, how can I remove his phone from the list of devices.

Push and hold on the phones name
(While trying to auto-connect you can press cancel so the list of phones is shown)
