I ordered a black one from https://carlinkitcarplay.com/ on BF. No complaints and worth the investment. I also consulted the seller about the upgrade. I have not updated my adapter yet. Because the seller said that if the dongle can work, they do not recommend upgrading. The original version is the best for my car. The upgrade system is only applicable to buyers who have problem with using CarPlay.
yes that's correct. If it works, do not update.

Mazdas do best with software version 2021.03.06. But Mazdas with the new infotainment system (Mazda Firmware 74.00.230 or later) continue to have problems with Carlinkint.
I'm using Mazda firmware 70, the problem is i have the issue only in certain points it's not a random issue.

I have a Podofo Wireless Carplay adapter and installed the 43.0.11 from a link here at Macrumors.

The Cheerdriving page shows only the 43.0.10. Which is the official page to get the newest updates for the Podofo adapter?

I am in the same boat as Jess. My unit has also stopped working since iOS 15.2. I am in contact with Carlinkit support. They said a software update was to be released before Christmas. I have not seen any update. My latest version is 2021.08.24.1817. Due to time zone differences, it takes 24 hours for a reply.

I'm running 15.2 on my iPhone, and my Carlinkit has not had any problems.

I'm running the latest iOS beta and have no issue. ios seems to be getting better. I don't have as many reconnect issues as before. I'm using the same firmware that is over a year old with my Mazda.

It‘s known, that there are issues with CarPlay using 15.2. Independent on Carlinkit. Everybody is waiting for a fix from Apple …

They're going to be waiting a long time. Apple isn't going to fix an unsupported third party device - in fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to intentionally break it.

My carlinkit 3.0s are deeply disappointing especially since iOS 15.2.

Things were perfect in my 2019 Renegade with 8.4 UConnect but since I updated to 8.24/8.30 and iOS 15.2 Waze will randomly freeze the interface without actually freezing it, it just takes many seconds to respond. ONLY WAZE CAUSES THIS. If I keep Google Maps open it does not occur. And wired nothing freezes it period.

And on my Sony XAV-AX5500, installed in a Corvette with Bose, it is still USELESS. Connects fine, but any audio instantly freezes the interface. I have asked several times if there’s any solution but I am ignored. Every single firmware that exists caused the headunit to boot loop EXCEPT 7.3 and now 8.24/8.30. But I can’t get audio to play!!!

Carlinkit support is worthless trash.

Where are the firmware updates? It’s nearly 2022 and there’s been nothing since late August. Absolute trash product and company.

I wanted to say, that with 15.2 a lot of iPhones cannot connect anymore using CarPlay. This is a bug and has to be fixed by Apple.
This has nothing to do with Carlinkit. Carlinkit is affected as well.

You might want to try installing this apk to your Sony:

OR

They mentioned "Carlinkit" but...use it at your own risk.

There is a thread about WAZE not working now with CarPlay - not a Carlink issue
Waze has been garbage long before iOS 15.2 but now it’s even worse. Weirdly this does not occur while wired or in another car. Just with a carlinkit adapter on the UConnect. If I use Google Maps no issue. Waze is still very much broken in other cars but doesn’t cause the interface to fall behind.

Nothing I do makes it work on my Sony headunit. Audio instantly freezes CarPlay. Wired works flawlessly. Carlinkit adapter refuses to work properly.

just a question on Podofo Adapter..
After upgrade to firmware 43.0.0.11, my Peugeot 3008 recognized it finally and it's very fast compared to CarLink v2 on boot and paring. Now my question is about GPS:

the CarLink v2 has an option on the WebUI to use the antenna of car, is it the same also for Podofo?

Thanks!

Waze is sometimes failing to get a GPS lock even on 15.1, even though all other maps work fine.
Need to take phone out, swipe waze up / force kill it, then restart and it locks gps ok.

hi, I think you should descibe it more detailed, can it be used before? after the update, it can't find your BT? or connected but no response?

You can try to update the software on your inbuilt infotainment system.

That's the link above. You will firstly need to select your region from the top and then have at least a 64GB USB flash drive ready. You will download the Kia update tool.

You're seeing that on your phone?
That's usually a message about something plugged into the phone's Lightning jack.
Are you charging the phone when you get the error?
Try using the Carplay adapter with nothing at all plugged into your phone.

I want to share an interesting usage experience:

I'm a long time user of CarPlay2Air (havent updated the firmware since I got one that worked fine for my car, 2021 Jeep Compass). Also have given 2 for my daughter's cars. All work fine.

Last week went to visit my daugther and borrowed one of her cars. Decided to bring my Carplay2Air to avoid having to register my phone on ther adapter (never found a way to remove a registered old phone from the list). When I connected my adapter on her car it would not connect at all. Nor would the Bluetooth connection show up.

After attempting a few things I noticed that the Bluetooth advertised name have changed, but I was sure that the underlying MAC address of the Bluetooth interface on the Carplay2Air could not be changing. The iPhone had the MAC address assigned to the previous bluetooth device name (that starts with a code associated with the car manufacturer). Therefore it would not connect nor show the new name on the available devices to connect.

The trick is to remove the "old" connection and voila! it shows and you can connect.

I haven't realized that this is the pattern until I returned home and put the adapter back on my car. Then when I saw the name that the adapter was adverting on the car screen I suspected of the name/MAC association and deleted the old one and it worked.

Since I've never seen this documented before (but will not search almost 300 pages of post) I thought it was worth sharing.

Have been seeing the same **** on 15.2. Very annoying. And yes, it's just Waze complaining that cannot get a GPS lock.
Forcing kill would get it back to work.

Another problem that I faced recenty is some strong interference while driving on I-95 in Florida (north of Miami). On several spots it would simply loose connection (the car would report that the "device" disappeared) and in less than one minute would reconnect automatically. This was on a Kia Sportage (rental, AVIS). Very wierd, always on the same spots, along I95. Like some eletromagnetic interference that was causing the adapter to shutoff.

Anyone experienced anything similar?

I came by here because this is the most robust discussion of these cplay2air devices.
I too recently purchased a cplay2air device and had a hell of a time getting connected.
I would get completely connected, everything looked good, add my wife's phone - worked good...
But then the next day she'd leave and it wouldn't work.

After some thought (and maybe this has been covered here) I had a lightbulb go off.
I submitted this to cplay2air support and they confirmed all the below:

1. To use cplay2air, the phone's WiFi must always be connected to the dongle. This means, while using cplay2air, your phone will not use vehicle hotspot or other WiFi, only LTE

2. If car is in a driveway and connected to house WiFi, initial start will cause confusion because phone will be on house WiFi and not connected to dongle. When you drive away - the phone might not auto-connect to dongle WiFi.

3. If phone is configured to auto-connect to vehicle hotspot, you may never connect because the phone will not be using dongle WiFi - preferring to use the hotspot instead.

In my case, I would - through following the steps and checking firmware, etc... - I would be connected properly via the dongle WiFi. I would get everything configured and working. I would go back to my "normal" configuration which is, at the house - house WiFi, in the car - car HotSpot. Which means I never connect back to the dongle. And thus I never got the thing to work.

On the plus side, knowing this allows a user to easily control if they want to use CarPlay or not by simply changing their WiFi connection.
