Well the ankeway 1006 adapter isn’t even detected by my car. I’m done with these damn adapters. I have accepted I just need a car with wireless factory CarPlay.

Good point but turns out the adapter is working after rebooting my phone. Question is for how long. I was frustrated when I posted that hahaIf you done with these adapter, you may interest this separate mini head unit (wireless carplay include)
Cheaper than replace your car

This actually bricked the device. It's not even showing the red light now... looks completely dead.Get the official 2021.08.30 firmware and rename it to U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img to switch from AutoKit/Custom to non-AutoKit
The retrofit CarPlay kit is official and identical to the factory installed kit, otherwise the V.70 firmware would not recognize it and work.Car is a 2017 Mazda 3 with retrofit CarPlay. Maybe that’s the issue since it’s not “factory” CarPlay?
Ah that’s good to know. I don’t understand what the issue is then. Must be weak power. I just started my car for the first time today and had unplug/plug in the adapter 4-5 times for it to work. I don't see Apple ever doing this - the compatibility issues alone would be a major headache, having to account for all the various implementations of the Carplay spec on different head units.I am sure this has been asked in this 300+ page thread, but, why couldn't Apple create a simple USB device to alleviate these wired/wireless problems? Yes, this is rhetorical, and they won't, just seems there could be an easy solution.
These 3rd party adapters are too much of a PITA.
I believe Apple could easily do this as to be CarPlay certified you already have to comply with standards -- they would just make whatever the "compatibility" issues are a requirement. Plus, if Apple does release a dongle and it doesn't work, the auto maker would just issue an OTA/firmware update to their system.I don't see Apple ever doing this - the compatibility issues alone would be a major headache, having to account for all the various implementations of the Carplay spec on different head units.
That being said, if the rumour they are going to a "portless" phone become true, I would like to think Apple doesn't expect everyone to buy new head units (or cars) to work with their newer devices - I wouldn't put it past them though!

Uploaded it to my google drive:Can anyone share the latest Cheerdriving/Podofo firmware?
Their server appears to be down so none of the links work.
Thanks
The latest version is OTA, only. You have to update using 192.168.0.1Can anyone share the latest Cheerdriving/Podofo firmware?

In privacy try toggling off and on precise location. Seems to help.my Carlinkit v2 still works perfect, connects almost everytime under 10s (more like 7-8).
received the new webui update. very happy with it.
only thing that pisses me off is Waze gps lost lock...been like this for a while. Google maps or apple maps lock straight away, Waze 9 times out of 10 shows a dot instead of arrow on current location. All my location settings for all mapping apps are set for "when in use only".
It’s slow to connect, but has been very consistent at working within 1 minute of starting the cars. It is very common for me to see the CarPlay failed message before it starts working. Only one time in the last several weeks have I had to use the switch I installed to easily unplug/replug my device, and that might have been caused by my phone being stuffed in a bag at the time.@vccowan how's the carlinkit adapter performing so far?
Good to know, thanks. what about phone call… can people hear you OK?It’s slow to connect, but has been very consistent at working within 1 minute of starting the cars. No audio cutouts at 750ms delay and video is smooth. In the past I had used 500ms which feels better for pausing/unpausing but I heard a couple of audio artifacts so I upped it.
I have not yet driven more than one hour in a stretch so I can’t say whether or not that bug has been resolved yet.
