Shot in the dark here. CPLAY2air is my adaptor. 2019 Chevy Impala. Was using the 2021-07-05 firmware and working better than the 2021-08-30 one but still not great. Connectivity issues. I recently upgraded to the 2022-01-24 firmware and worked great for a few days and now worse than the 07-05 one.

Anyone else with a similar setup that can recommend a set up that works fairly flawlessly? Reverted back to plugging in a cable to alleviate the frustration.

**edit** I know I can downgrade back to the 07-05 and I have in the past, just want to to work 95% of the time or better!

I upgraded yesterday my CPLAY2AIR adapter to 2022-01-24 but via USB since OTA couldn't find new FW. Connection is much faster, no connectivity issue any more (but it is too early to be sure), no problem with paying music etc.
Only issue I found is new user interface for setup:
- car info page are not seen
- settings page are not possible to open
- check firmware can't find new FW and doesn't return with any info
Only Advance page is available and functional. Any ideas, suggestions?

no effect.
it's waze for sure, since i drove a whole week with google maps and had no issues. Locks on straight away.
It’s Waze but only with carlinkit dongle… the gps issue never occurs on the cheerdriving boxes/dongles. So makes very little sense. It’s gotta be the carlinkit firmware that is the issue.

Well I think the cause of my adapter issues is that the USB port isn’t providing enough power to the adapter when the car is turned on. The cheerdriving adapter works fine after I unplug and plug it in 3-4 times. It’s either a power issue or a handshake issue with the infotainment. Not 100% sure.

Car is a 2017 Mazda 3 with retrofit CarPlay. Maybe that’s the issue since it’s not “factory” CarPlay?
Mazda CX5 2019 here. My Cheerdriving/Podofo has been acting up ever since I updated to the newest firmware OTA (I cannot remember the version number at the moment. I just know it made the OTA update page appear in English). It almost never connects now and takes multiple unplug and plugs to be recognized. This weekend I'm going to try flashing an old update to see if this fixes the issue.

Yep, I have to time the adapter's boot up with the infotainment to get it to work. Sometimes I have to unplug/plug 3-4 times to get it to work. Kinda defeats the purpose of wireless carplay.

Please let us know if the older firmware makes a difference.

I can confirm that I haven’t had an issue since reinstalling the older .10 update!

If buying today which would people get? I’m hopefully eventually getting a refund from Aliexpress for the Podofo which stopped working after a while, horrendous service from the seller, and trying to contact Aliexpress was a nightmare…. lesson learnt, but from Amazon UK.

So which is best for today? Lots out now, as above prefer Amazon UK now.

What are these MMB ones, which have YouTube, Netflix facility etc? I’d probably get that working and never use tbh.

Although the dongles have their faults, the convenience factor overrides this for me.

Thanks

I’d still go with the podofo. What happened with yours? Did it die after a certain update?

Just stopped working, nothing now no lights etc.

There’s a CarLinkIt mini on Amazon UK for about £70.

I still have an original CarLinkIt that’s chugging away, I haven’t tried updates as works ok.

What do the newer ones give with newer updates etc?

Podofo wouldn’t communicate with the Mazda unit on the most recent OTA update. Took multiple tries plugging and removing. So I just rolled it back to last year’s update and connection is good again.

This thread could do with a sticky, but:

I have a Carlinkit CPC200-u2w Plus that has worked flawlessly for me for about a year (May '21) but I hopped in the car today after doing my iOS 15.4 update and it was VERY sluggish. I have a friend with one as well and he was having the same issue.

Is there a recommended firmware version that works well with this model that I should update to?

I generally like to avoid firmware updates if it was working properly. I would suggest to first remove Bluetooth pair (forget this device) in Settings>Bluetooth and then remove the phone from the CarPlay adapter itself (long press on the name until delete appears). Then setup again.

Failing that, try a firmware update:
I would suggest plugging it into the wall USB adapter and doing an OTA update to the latest 2022.01.24.

Thanks, I will give this a shot. At least it doesn't appear to be specific to ios15.4

2018 Mazda CX-5 with Carlinkit 3.0 running January 2022 firmware. I went for a 2.5 hour trip and right at 75 minutes the Carlinkit restarted itself. It successfully reconnected but I did have to tell. My navigation software to route to the destination again.

Is anyone else seeing that the physical “Home” button in their car no longer takes them to the CarPlay Home Screen with iOS 15.4? Or works only intermittently? I’m using the Ottobox in a 2021 Mazda CX-5 (US). Everything worked normally until about a week ago. I’ve tried all the Ottobox firmwares going back from August to the current version.

302 pages, quite a lot of demand for Wireless CarPlay !

So I'm in the market for one of these adapters for my Kia Niro PHEV 2021 (which I thought came with wireless CarPlay already - anyways...).

Reading quite a lot of mixed reviews about these things, either 5 stars or 1 star ratings.

If I understand correctly, we have 2 choices : Cplay2air or Carlinkit 3.0, both Chinese. Pricing is around 150 CAD for both.

Is one better than the other ?!

This is not right ;)

Carlinkit is the "original manufacturer"! Cplay2Air is just a rebranded Carlinkit device.
But theres also the "Cheerdriving Connect Box"

Thanks for the info !

Is there any advantage to go with Cplay2air then?
If it's just a rebrand, I believe technically speaking there's absolutely no difference?

Hi everyone!

I have a carlinkit 2021 mini and I have detected that when you have been using the waze app for more than 30 minutes, it starts to go very slow and the carplay goes out.
for it to work again I must disconnect the sel carlinkit cable and reconnect it.

Does anyone else happen to you?

I want to try more applications to see if the same happens.

Also comment that the carlinkit mini 2021 gets very hot
Hello, I have the same problem as you with my carlinkit CPC200-U2W. After about 30 minutes, sometimes a bit more, I lose the connection and have to disconnect and reconnect the dongle to get Apple CarPlay working again. Were you able to solve your problem?

Yes, I have the same problem with my CarLinkit adapter after updating to iOS 15.4 in my Mazda 6, guess it is a iOS problem.
