Hi Mazda user,

This is summary for MX-5 with CheerDriving

I have tried my MX-5 with CheerDriving with following conditions.
Results , CheerDriving doesn't support MX-5 at this moment.

CheerDriving FW
FW1) 43.0.11.0.0.0.3.0-2.10.2
FW2) 43.0.10.1.0.1.0.0-2.10.3

MX-5 Mazda : 70.00.351 JP M

I have communicated to CheerDriving support. They are supporting e-mail , phone , and WhatsApp.
and their responds were so fast. I have communicated several times via WhatsApp. During this communication. I sent my environment and movie to recreate unsupported situation. then they concluded current FW is not supported for my environment. I think their supports were so good.

CheerDriving for support list are listed CX-5, CX-30/Alela/CX-8/Atenza/CX-4. It is not listed my MX-5.
so I'm OK even though it is not working at this moment.

As I see support list, It seems Wide Screen models are supported, and 4x3 screen models are not supported.
This is my result at this moment.

Hi nikkotsoi,

Thank you very much for your information.
Yes, my MX-5 is Japan. so my Mazda connect FW is 70.00.351 JP M
I have confirmed my CheerDriving Connect is 43.0.13.0.0.0.2.0-2.10.4, It is same with your ConnectBox.

but I found small difference between your box and my box. I believe it doesn't matter.

My CheerDriving is shown 43.0.13.0.0.0.2.0-2.10.4/ConnectBoxBt_Mazda,
and your CheeDriving is 43.0.13.0.0.0.2.0-2.10.4/ConnectBoxBt_Volkswagen.

I'm not sure this is a reason for my issue or not. but I still have issue for Bluetooth pairing phase. so I can't connect to CheerDriving.

If I have a chance, I would like to update for my Mazda Connect to 367 instead of 351.

Good afternoon! I can't connect to Mitsubishi Pajero sport 2019. Is it possible? Has anyone succeeded? The car does not see this device. Thanks.

I'm not sure this is a reason for my issue or not. but I still have issue for Bluetooth pairing phase. so I can't connect to CheerDriving.

If I have a chance, I would like to update for my Mazda Connect to 367 instead of 351.

Sometimes I have issues with the Bluetooth pairing phase as well, disabling Bluetooth on the MZD might help.

You can also temporarily fix this by switching to the Airplay screen (tap the top right corner) and switch back to wireless carplay (tap the top left corner). The Bluetooth connection will be re-established.

I broke one of my V3 Carlinkit‘s so I figured why not replace it with the newest one the 4.0 is much slower to connect to my Mazda system I wonder if I could sideload the firmware from the V3 onto it as it seems to have a different one. I wouldn’t care about losing android auto. On the bright side when it is connecting to my phone the display changes to show that it is connecting which could be useful when trying to figure out if it is going to connect to mine or my wife’s phone.

Return it immediately for a 3.0.

No you cannot load 3.0 firmware onto 4.0 units. 4.0 filenames are U2AW_AUTOKIT_Update.img whereas 3.0 are U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img

Hello!

Please, can someone help me?

I’ve a CarPlay2Air device. It was working absolutely fine with my Mazda 3 (2019) until two days ago, when I saw a new “configuration” site when access to 192.168.50.2

I noticed that in this new site, I was asked for my car model and year. I also noticed that in the new settings page there was an option to change the name of the Bluetooth adapter, the Wifi signal and other settings that I never saw before. So, I tried to change the default Bluetooth name “Mazda-8585” to “Mazda3”. Since then, the connection between the iPhone and the CarPlay2Air was broken and it was impossible to establish a new connection between both devices.

I contacted the official support to learn how to reset the device to default settings and they send me the latest official firmware update (1.24) and the instructions to flash the dongle. I tried several times, but it didn’t recognize the update file. Its name is “U2W_CPAIR_Update.img”. I also tried to change the name to “U2W_Update” and “U2W_ZYD_Update” with no luck, of course in an empty and Fat32 USB Drive, and the dongle connected to a phone charger.

Then I tried to install some other firmwares that I found here (https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireless-carplay-dongle-reverse-engineering/tree/master/Firmware) and the only one that seems to work and start flashing just for few seconds is the “U2W_Update_2020.08.04.1602_ROLLBACK.img” renamed to “U2W_Update.img”

I think it was installed successfully, although the dongle is not recognized yet by my car. Any Bluetooth connection appears in my iPhone, but appeared a new Wifi named: “AutoBox-582f”.

I could connect to that Wifi, associated to the CarPlay2Air dongle and I could connect to it with the password “12345678” and enter again to 192.168.50.2 configuration site. There I received a new update notification and I updated the dongle directly from this site.

It still doesn’t appear any bluetooth device and the Car doesn’t recognize Carplay, but I still can connect to its Wifi. Now, a new update notification appears: “VER:2021.07.04.2222” with Release Notes: “Fix the bug of OTA update”. But when I try to Update, it says “Upgrade failed”.

I tried to update the dongle to the same version using the firmware downloaded from the mentioned before Github site, but it seems that the dongle doesn’t recognize any of the firmwares that I try to use. The Blue/Red lights are never flashing, always there’s a stable red light. Only starts flashing when I try to install again the Rollback firmware, it seems the dongle want to start that update, but the blue and red lights only flash one or two times, for about 2 or 3 seconds and that’s all.

Am I doing something wrong? Can I do something else to try to recover this dongle?

Thank you!

Try 2021.03.06 next. I assume the rollback worked using U2W_Update.img, so use that version not U2W_AUTBOX_Update and let us know if that is successful.

I could install the 2021.03.10.1430 version. But still not working, no Bluetooth, no Carplay when connected to the car. Connecting to the dongle through WIFI "AuboBox-582f" and accesing 192.168.50.2 now it says "It is the latest version".

Try this file:

Thanks. I'm trying that file, but it doesn't start flashing. I tried connecting the dongle to the power first, and then insert the USB Drive and also in the opposite way, but the red light doesn't change to alternate blue/red with this file.
Try Rename my file to U2W_ZYD_Update.img

What was the last firmware file you loaded on successfully? Can you send the link

Also the file name used to successfully update.
I think this was the latest file I could upload: U2W_ZYD_Update_2021.03.10.1430.img because it's the latest version that appears when I connect to the dongle Wifi. But, as I said, I'm not sure if it's the correct firmware for my dongle because it's not working when connected to the car and no Bluetooth device appears in my iPhone.

I've tried so many things that I don't remember if I used the name "U2W_Update.img" or "U2W_ZYD_Update.img" to upload the firmware. I think it was the first. Each firmware I try to upload I try with 3 different names: first "U2W_Update", if it not works I try with "U2W_ZYD_Update.img" and the last one is "U2W_CP2AIR_Update.img" because is the original name of the file that the developers sent me, although it was impossible to upload with any of the names tried. I also tried sometimes "U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img", but never worked. My dongle is the CPLAY2AIR with a green UI (when it worked, hehe).

Try my firmware with U2W_ZYD_Update.img if you are on 2021.03.10 you are using that firmware syntax.

Please note this information:
Put the firmware you want to flash inside the root directory of a USB drive formated in FAT32 and rename it U2W_Update.img (or U2W_ZYD_Update.img if you are on 2020.08.27/2021.03.10 or U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img if you have a Red UI/Custom theme).

Yes, I tried again with that name. But still doesn't upload... I don't know why.

Let’s go back to this. Report back when this is on.
U2W_Update_2020.08.04.1602_ROLLBACK.img” renamed to “U2W_Update.img”
Strange but... I can't! Nothing occurs when I load that Rollback firmware to the USB Drive. Is that normal?

In the settings I can see a Rollback option, maybe I can try to do that from there. But it's to 2020.11.20.1511. What do you think?

Try that. I just want any firmware other than that 2021.03.10. It isn’t an official version.

It starts to download but when arrives at 100% it shows a message: "Upgrade failed".
Can you try this file:

Reboot device with the USB flash drive inserted
Try all syntax to accept the file:

U2W_Update.img
U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img
U2W_ZYD_Update.img

If no luck with the 2020.12.25.1732 try this below using all 3 syntax again to try accept the update.

Hello again DeanCorp.

Don't worry, finally I could solve everything thanks to piotko (user from here), who sent me a private message.

I followed his steps:

1. First I Installed 2021.08.24_BASED to the dongle from here: https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireles.../tree/master/Custom_Firmware/2021.08.24_BASED It was necessary to install it with 2 more files: ARMimg_maker and U2W.sh from here: https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireles...mware/Scripts/RestoreNewEncryption_2021.03.06 It worked!

2. Then, I installed the 2022-01-24 version from https://projects.grabher-industries.com/U2W/ It also worked!

3. After that, I tried that firmware in the car and restored everything to factory defaults. The car recognized CarPlay again for the first time after many days and I could sync my iPhone with the dongle. But I noticed few problems, the most important that the dongle never connected again automatically to Carplay as it was doing before when I entered the car, so I needed to unplug and plug the dongle into the car's USB port each time I wanted to use it.

4. Then, I tried to install again the official firmware that CPLAY2AIR sent me through facebook some days ago (they called it the "1.24 system version") that it was impossible to install before today and... voilà! This time it worked! I don't know why, but now it worked!

5. Finally, I restored everything again to factory defaults and connected the dongle to the car for the last time. Now everything is working perfectly, synched to my iPhone and auto-connects automatically after few seconds each time I enter the car.

So, I think I've learn the lesson: if something works, don't touch it! Maybe the fault was when I tried to change the name of the adapter's bluetooth connection and customized it in the new configuration site at 192.168.50.2. I thought that if it gives the option, should not cause problems. But... the problems started after that. So, I think I will not try to change the WIFI and BLUETOOTH names anymore. Now the defaults are "MAZDA1" for the WIFI and "MAZDA-8585" for Bluetooth. I would prefer something like "CPLAY2AIR" or maybe "MAZDA 3" or something like that but... never mind! Now it works! So I don't try to change nothing. "MAZDA-8585" will be ok for me, at least for the moment, haha.

I also noticed that the firmware that they send me has a completely new user interface now in the car that I've never seen before, even different than the 2022-01-24 version that I installed some hours ago. I like this new user inverface very much!

So, thank you all for your help!
