Unfortunately I did but it didn't work. always need to reset. and no it does not find a new version.

You were on this version. Now it is 2022.06.17. Reset Adapter. Then try turning on background mode and sync mode. Change start delay to 5s.
It still doesn't work. when it disconnects and reconnects it turns red.

Try a different USB cable. Have you tested it in another vehicle? And completed feedback/ bug report?
I've tried other cables. I can't do it on other vehicles. I sent feedback but no response.
Have you contacted your local service department and quoted them your radio firmware and checked that there isn’t a newer version firmware available?
I'm from Brazil and I bought from a seller in China on AliExpress. His recommendation was to change the delay to 1. It obviously didn't work. I already requested a refund. Thank you so much for your help.
I mean for your car, the issue seems to be with your car and the dongle. Contact your local service department and check your car radio doesn’t have a new firmware update.
If CP works if the if the phone is plugged in directly to the car then it’s not the car.
Does anyone else’s interface look like this on their phones? I have the original carplay2air and did a hardwire upgrade to the June version. CarPlay works perfect but now my interface looks like this and none of those tabs at the bottom actually work.

I had rolled back my firmware before I saw your post and decided to try the upgrade again... the second time I upgraded, my car brought up the unit without me having to do anything. Weird! Thank you.

today I plugged my Carlinkit mini (the white one) into my car and can only see the screen "scan to activate" / "need to complete activation". I was using the adapter with no issue before (same car) Different car brings no help.
Reset didn't help either.
Update is not working (says "undefined" "size NaNMB" so I clicked "ignore" and didn't update)
Rollback is not possible. It only says "Detect Fallback" instead of the version number / file name.
When I clock "RESET", the whole option disapears and is only visible when whole page is refreshed
I'm on version 2022.06.08.1109
Does anyone have the same problem or a possible fix for this ?

did you try clearing the cache etc. of the browser or a different broswer ?
clearing the cache did solve it once for me, when the menu was unresponsive
I have the exact same problem today with my 4.0. The update option is there but fails and resetting failed. I will try to load the firmware via USB later.
I hooked up my old one and it is stuck on the activation screen too. The new one seems to be bricked after I attempted to load the firmware via USB. It doesn't light up at all now when I power it up.
I am also on the activation screen. I have version 4.0. What can you do about it, how to activate it?
Well my 4.0 is completely bricked. No lights, nothing. My 2.0 boots to the activation screen even after doing a USB upgrade. I can get into the web interface and see the settings are how I left them, but it won't do anything. I'm at a loss right now.
100% same issue on my Carlinkit 4.0. Started immediately after it notified me of an update that ran and then failed. Has anyone tried flashing the July firmware that @DeanCorp posted above?
[Edit] Started the same, got prompted for an "undefined" update "size NaNMB":
Restore/reset does nothing; rollback now only shows "detect fallback" and when you tap it it just disappears.
Manually updated to the July firmware that @DeanCorp posted. Worked fine, but issue persists:
Now tapping "update" does nothing, and attempts to rollback only show this:
(Turning off wi-fi and tapping "confirm" does nothing, pop up immediately reappears.) I have an email out to support@carlinkitcarplay.com but I have very limited expectations of a response.
