As far as I know, ludwig has no firmwares for 4.0 devices, only has 3.0 firmwares. So its possible you put the wrong firmware
The BIOS chip is the same on both models 3 & 4(MX25L12835F) however the firmware is different, I have tried FW from both models nothing worked for me, nothing but a red led

Is there a way to have a Bluetooth connection to a wireless dongle and your car at same time?

My car has an app that connects via Bluetooth, and records, access certain things.

However it’s not connecting to my car because the wireless dongle is using the Bluetooth.

Unfortunately not. This is the price we pay for the convenience of Wireless Carplay.

Ah ok thanks. That’s a pity then as it has some good features when connected by Bluetooth. I knew it used Bluetooth but thought it then handed off to WiFi and so would leave Bluetooth free to connect to car.

Why can’t Bluetooth connect to it as well though. Apple Watch uses Bluetooth and shows connected all the time, so must allow numerous devices at once?

That is how these manufacturers have designed these Wireless Adapters to work. Whilst the Adapters are not perfect, we are fortunate that they exist.

Not sure why this would be thre case, I have a 2020 Rav4 Hybrid and Carlinkit 3 (w red ui) works flawlessly. I have a Limited with the JBL sound system. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Also, if you visit 192.168.50.2 one of the things you can do is set a small startup delay (start with 6) so the Carlinkit gives your car stereo a chance to boot first before it starts up. I haven't had to do this but have seen a few thread where this was the case.

I noticed there is a 12.14.2022 firmware update for carlinkit 3.0. It has a totally new user interface and some new options. Anyone else on it and notice any difference?

I saw no difference between last fw and this in terms of reliability and quality, yet. I set call quality to HD.

My old Carlinkit (2.0, I think) crapped out so I bought a new 4.0 model. I installed it but a software update bricked it. Support couldn't get it working, so I just returned it.

I bought a SuperiorTech 5.0 unit, and it has worked very well. However, I am convinced that it's just the same piece of hardware. It looks identical and, more damning, the screen interface is exactly the same.

In fact, the only difference I can discern between the two is that the SuperiorTech is $35 more expensive. 🤬

Is this the interface you see. As I have not updated my Adapters.

I have the Carlinkit 3.0 adaptor and used with Alpine ILX-W650E.

In all the times I have tried it - the unit will briefly work for about 3-5 minutes and then the interface freezes up using Apple Maps and Google Maps is near impossible, then the whole entire Carplay system is frozen. Or sometimes it will eventually unfreeze and try to play "catch up".

I did a firmware update successfully but this doesn't help. It was so poor that I went back to using the cable. This is with iPhone XR and latest iOS update. Any thoughts on this? I've done a lot of Google searching but nothing concrete.

Hi,

Try adjusting in advanced settings.
- sync mode on
- start delay 3s
- bit rate to 6 Mbps
- 20 frames
- GPS off

Please let me know if this resolved your issue

I’ve reverted my Mini 3.0 to 2022.07.29.1625 (from latest 2022.12) because it break one finger usage on any maps app, no way to scroll with a finger, only using OSD commands.. anyone else with this problem?

Both test done with same iOS 16.2 version, so it’s not a problem of the phone

Thx

You mean touch scrolling? I tried that and works flawlessly, like last fw.

Try update to 2022.12.14 again, reset adapter in advanced settings & reset network settings on your iPhone & report back

Could Someone running the 2022.12.24 FW please post screenshots of the new interface/settings? I’m on 2022.01.24 and is the best version for my car so far (2017 Mazda 3). Just curious what the new FW has/offers.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix.

Well said DeanCorp

Well well more surprises for me. I tested my Adapter with my Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and the latest red UI version 12.14.2022 firmware update actually works perfectly with my car.

Also I have an Adapter with the green UI interface updated to the latest Dec 2022 of the firmware, but has the older UI interface.

Happy days.

I updated and it went smoothly although I had to reset some of my settings like the delay. One thing good is that the connection to my phone so far has been noticeably quicker. Sometimes it would hang there in the past for as long as 20 seconds.

I also like the new real time info in the browser UI, otherwise the new UI is functional the same.

I have not checked if the got map directions showing on my cars display above the steering wheel which is one CP feature I missed by not being wired in. I’m doubting it will work but one can hope.

I have a Carlinkit 4 in my other car but it does not have the new up available yet. Its firmware is from sept.

i've tried but nothing to do...
reset both iPhone and CarLink Mini 3.0 (after update to 2022.12) but finger scroll stop to work on any Maps app (Waze, Google, Maps)

may be this firmware is not compatible with my head unit and touch control (Peugeot 3008 my21) :(

Use the send feedback button and they will push the update to your 4.0
Really, they can ‘push’ updates? I assume when the software checks for updates it would look for the latest. Are you saying that the ‘new’ UI version is available for the 4?

Yes that is correct: I have new UI on my 4.0

Once you’ve submitted your feedback, please allow 24-48 hours for your request to be registered before the update is pushed to your dongle.
