Any tips on how to improve phone calls? Sometimes people can’t hear me well. They say my voice is too low. If I put the phone in speaker mode, no issues.

Not sure if it’s a car or carlinkit thing.

Car is a 2017 Mazda 3. Adapter is on the 2022.01.24.1914 FW which has been working well overall.
Most likely car. Easiest way to test would be to see if the issue also occurs on wired CarPlay.

What iOS version are you on? There was an iOS bug that was fixed. Try perform a reset network settings on your iPhone. Reset adapter (in advanced settings) and then pair device again.

iOS 16.3. This has been a problem for me for a while in multiple iOS versions.
Calls are definitely louder via wired CarPlay. It could just be a carlinkit issue with the infotainment but will try your suggestions and report back.

Does the latest firmware with the new UI offer any phone call adjustments by any chance?

Often volume issues are a “feature” of many cars that have separate volume levels for many different inputs and phone calls are often considered a different input.
Although in this case it seems like things are going thru via the phone and not the auto mic/speakers. I’ve seen this on some cars like Kia’s and there twins but I don’t have this issue on my two cars.

I am having an issue with Carlinkit 4 cpc200-cp2a after having OTA software update device died (no red or green led)
after following the BIOS flashing instructions from https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireless-carplay-dongle-reverse-engineering
now the device has a constant red LED connecting to the wall brick with no WI-FI or Bluetooth and refuses to accept FW via the offline method, have tried different versions of FW with no luck, any help?
Hello,

I have same problem, I did rollback my carlinkit 4.0 plugged into car (sic! don't do that! ) had power loss and my device died (no red nothing). Now I have red light by instruction from https://github.com/ludwig-v/wireless-carplay-dongle-reverse-engineering I put MX25L12835F_CFW_20210830.bin file by ch341. Yes I know its v3 file, when I put into usb file U2AW_AUTOKIT_Update there's nothing (green red led) only red, but if I put file U2W_AUTOKIT_Update there is (red green for ~1minute) but still hardware error:wifi bt after pluged into car. I tried everything change file name, another firmwares img, bin files nothing. Probably need v4 .bin file into mx25L12835F solve this problem but I can't get this. Support send me only U2AW_AUTOKIT_Update.img file. Anyone help?

I had a similar problem with a Carlinkit 4.0 - bricked by an update - and support couldn’t help me. The unit had died (no lights of any color) and so it was impossible to upload any software. I returned it. Sorry I can’t offer better news.

@VLud Do you already know whether it is again based on i.MX6?

I also bought one. The Android Auto to CarPlay conversion is quite interesting, but not very stable here. Also CarPlay connection with V2 was quicker and more stable.

Got my V4, nothing new on the hardware, just a new Wifi chip (Marvell 8987 instead of Broadcom)

I managed to install and run Custom Firmware on a V4 by adding drivers of Marvell 8987 inside. A flash dump from a V2/V3 device with at least firmware 2022.01.24 would have worked directly on the V4.
It worked like a charm like a V2/V3 would do (no wireless Android Auto)

Tried to flash my V3 with V4 flash dump, but it didn't boot.

The only reason they changed "U2W" to "U2AW" is because they also changed the crypto logic of the FW so that we can't extract new binaries and copy them to transform a V2/V3 to V4 (which is purely software)

My V4 has a Broadcom BCM4358 with single antenna (AC@433mbps). Looks like different versions are around...

Another funny thing is that the adapter is still advertised as being based on an Atmel AT91SAM9260 processor from 2006 with only Full Speed (12mbps) USB and no option to hook up a fast SDIO 3.0 WiFi controller.

Hello I programmed Your v4 dump file but there's nothing no red LED only at first start it blinked red green. Any suggestions? Thanks!

My V3 is now a V4 :)

Workflow:
Flashed my second dump of V4 (I updated to 2022.12.26)
My V3 booted up, got Wifi BT Hardware Error
Flashed largest FW (U2AW 2022.07.29) containing all Wifi drivers, waited for the LEDs to stop flashing (screen was still showing Hardware Error)
It rebooted
Got Activation screen, logged in on 192.168.50.2
Updated the FW
And voila !

You can get the direct dump to upgrade your V3 to V4 here
