Has anyone who upgraded to the FW with the new interface noticed any improvements in call audio quality/volume or performance overall?

I’ve been running the FW Version 2022.01.24.1914 and it’s been working fine overall in 3.0 adapter but I’m just curious how the newest FW has been performing.

I know I know, if it’s not broken don’t fix it but again, just curious..

I did and for me it’s day and night.. the new firmware is far more stable m and faster. You can decide the call quality you want and the WiFi band.

I guess it comes down to the Adapter you have and the car head unit etc. My Adapter in my car has always been working correctly including call quality. The new UI works the same in my car, no discerning difference.

However the newer UI does give us more information including I think an important readout which is the temperature of the CPU. If the cpu gets to hot then the Adapter will freeze or not work reliably.

Getting a few spare Adapters is a good thing in my view, in case they do fail you have a backup Adapter that works. I have spare Adapters all setup with the newest firmware ready to go.

Had performance issues with the 12/24 FW in my 3.0 adapter. Screen would randomly go black while driving. Not pleasant.

Had to revert to the 2022.01.24.1914 version. It’s the release that works best in my 2017 Mazda 3 so far..

Just wish call microphone volume in this adapter was louder. Maybe it’s my infotainment. Who knows..

So I bought a 2nd 3.0 adapter as a backup last week. I tried reverting to the 2022.01.24 FW since that's the version that work best with my car and now I get the wifi/BT hardware error. I have tried multiple FW versions and the adapter currently has 2021.03.06.1343 flashed on it. I'm assuming it's missing the BT/wifi drivers?

This is all started when I went from FW version 2022.12.14.1349 directly to 2022.01.24.1903 which was a big mistake.

Wondering if there's any chance to revive this adapter?

Thanks

I recently picked up a CarLinKit (3.0) adapter for my Ford Ranger... works pretty well... it takes about 20 seconds to connect once I start my truck, but afterwards, everything works very well.

I was also having a random issue with Waze not properly engaging the GPS - the map display would be frozen at the location where I was when I started my truck... but since getting and installing the CarLinKet dongle, that problem has completely disappeared - it's been about 10 days now without an issue.

So I'm coming from an old, original CarPlay2Air. I purchased a new CarLinkIt 4.0 from Amazon and received it today. Plugged it in and noticed that, on the screen, it's telling me to connect to "SYNC-4731", but the only thing I find being broadcast is "VOLKSWAGEN-42FD". Sure enough, I connect to it and everything works fine.

The package was shrink wrapped, so was it a used unit, or what in the world is going on?

Also, I told it to update, but it says it's at the latest firmware (2022.12.26.1411). And even funnier, now (3 hours later), when I connect to it, it's calling itself SYNC-4731. I have pics so I'm not crazy, but WTF?

Thanks!

That sounds like a used/returned unit to me.

Mine showed the same Volkswagen ID... but after unplugging it and re-plugging it into the truck, it showed a SYNC-xxxx code. In the end of it all, the unit is going back because it locks up my SYNC infotainment system fairly regularly - after less than 10 days.

What year/model ford were you running it on (2019 F-150 for me).

I can't figure out if On or OFF means use Car GPS or Phone GPS and which usually works better.
Hi mfrank29

ON = Phone GPS
OFF = Car GPS

Which works better depends on your Car. But if your car has GPS it will have better GPS reception as the Aerial is external to the car.

Ok that’s what I figured. I switched it off and it seems to be tracking well now.

Has anyone switched sound to cd vs dvd or changed calling quality from high to HD?

I messed with CD as there are occasionally blips when Siri announces turns and it looked like the data rate in the web interface was less. Could be placebo but it sounded better set to DVD

These settings are depended on your car’s head unit. I have DVD setting which works well but on another vehicle it may be problematic. In my view leave the settings on default and only change them if you have issues.

Yeah I agree. The thing with these adapters is they aren’t perfect so you don’t know if it can be any better without trying them. The GPS seemed to be having trouble set to on and so far using the cars gps seems better. Which is odd because I always used my phone for directions without issue.

Anyone have this issue.

When my adapter disconnects unexpectedly the leds will be off. Even if I unplug and plug it back into the USB port it won’t power on again until I first plug my phone into carplay. Then if I plug the adapter back in it will boot and work again.

Hello! Please help me to identify my device board and find proper firmware to unbrick it after failed firmware update.
This is my old dongle, ordered from Ali but looks like MMB device (old one). Looks like it in boot loop or something. No any output, only leds flashing/breathing in a loop.

Following labels on the board I need v107, but dropbox links are all dead already for v107 there. Do you guys have it backed up somewhere?

I've managed to flash it with Phenix on PC with recovery image file but there is no Wifi/BT:

I've tried few firmwares and on v7.7 BT/WIFI start to work and I get UI like on original device.

The problem is that after basic setup (CarPlay autostart, disable warnings) device rebooted and stack in boot loop with BT on and CarPlay device name visible in my car media on boot time for few seconds before device goes to reboot again...
Will try to flash v8 next time...

Thanks!

Well, v8 report:

It works just fine now! The only problem - NEXT/PREV buttons on wheel doesn't work. God...
Any fix for this buttons mapping issue?
