My Carplay2air dongle arrived yesterday. Today I plugged it into my 2019 Mazda Miata RF running Mazda OS version 70.000.335 NA N. I am using an iPhone X, running Ios 13.3. At first, the Carplay2air interface showed up, told me to connect Bluetooth to Mazda9768 (or something like that). I did that and CarPlay came up. Everything seemed to work OK except for a short delay during a phone call.

I tried going to the server to see if the software needed updating, but that led to the loss of both the wifi and bluetooth connections. Repeated restarts failed to get any response from the dongle. Bluetooth was not connected and I found no way to re-connect. I had the iPhone Bluetooth forget the dongle, hoping I could just start over. However, on repeated tries, I am getting nowhere. At the top of the Miata navigation screen, it rotates every few seconds between saying "USB Connected" and "USB Disconnected". The iPhone searches for nearby Bluetooth, but no longer finds the dongle. I have no way to determine what software version is on the dongle, and no way to connect to the server to upgrade the software, assuming that is needed. There is no longer any indication that the car recognizes the dongle at all.

It sounds like whatever customer care exists will not be available for the next ten days! Does anybody have any suggestion what I should try next?

turn the car off and disconnect the dongle for 10 minutes to let everything power down and reset. Then try again. My 2018 Sierra did the same thing a few updates ago.

I tried again after more than an hour and still get no recognition of the presence of the dongle, other than the rotating "USB Connected" and "USB Disconnected".

I'm running into the same issue. I've read in some other forums that the activation server might be down. I reached out to the seller on Amazon and they provided me with a video walk through... The instructions say
"to click to the left of the pop up, and then enter into the log "world001+ Car model + Country " , and then submit the log, then Re-enter this page at 192.168.50.2, and wait for the system to push account and password, after you login with the account and password, please check updates and update to the latest version."

There's also a comment in the Chinese instructions to add "9999" to the batch. Unfortunately, after trying a bunch of different approaches, the system still does not push an account or password, so I'm stuck. I've tried clarifying the input of "world001+ Car model + Country" and have not received a response.

Any luck yet?

I have a problem connecting to the dongle's wi-fi. When i get into my car in my garage my iPhone stays connected to my home wi-fi rather than picking up the dongle's wi-fi. I have to manually select the dongle's wi-fi signal in the iPhone settings to connect. I have the same problem at work. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I've already prioritized the dongle's wi-fi name in the list of remembered wi-fi addresses in my iPhone and set it to connect automatically.

I get a similar message on my Mazda 6, "USB Connected" and "USB Disconnected", when I by mistake connect the dongle in the wrong USB port, just be sure that you are connecting the device in the dedicated USB port for Carplay, the one with the small phone icon beside. Good Luck, could be an easy fix for you.

I found a clearing/forgetting my wifi and bluetooth for the device on the iphone then restarting has led to it work great since Sat/Sundays release. It was previously slow to connect and some stuttering in sound and vision (google maps) as though the connection was poor prior to the reboot.
I did that about a week ago. Sometimes the adapter could only connect to the iPhone after a long time. I think due to the many updates you should do this from time to time.
As far as I've tested my Alpine iLX-702D works quite well. Sometimes I have a black screen after the rear view camera has activated.

Try reflashing the image using a FAT32 USB.

Download the U2W_Update.img from here http://112.74.112.110/download/2020-01-22/ and put it on a completely empty FAT32 USB stick. Plug the USB stick into the dongle, then plug the dongle into an iphone charger...not the car...and wait for both LED's

I have done this before, the image from the download site lets you upgrade via USB but not downgrade.

Dear all,

i bought the adapter from carplay2air and unfortuantely it is not working in my PEUGEOT 5008 ( Radiomodel is RCC from Bosch). The interface is poppinn up for 1-2 seconds and that´s it.
below is a video, did anybody have the same problem or any Info which helps to solve this maybe?

Is the image for CarLinkIt or CarPlay2Air dongle though?

As said a million times before, EXACTLY the same
Sorry only counted 999,999....

Only quoting what CarPlay2Air manufacturers have said, they are different dongles, I don’t believe either I’m just making sure people are aware as might brick that’s all. Chill

forgot to mention that i have tested the adapter on a kskoda kodiaq and it wokrded without any problems
I also updated it with the latest firmware when it was connected to the SKODA, at the moment i think the interface of the dongle is not compatible to the radio software of Peugeot 5008 ( RCC / Bosch) ??!!

You updated your dongle with USB, with the download from that directory and yours is CarlinkIt.
I updated my dongle from that directory via USB and mine is CarPlay2Air.

That proves that they are they exact same device.

The only bricking would be if someone a) flashed an image that wasnt called U2W at the start, or b) they flashed it to a non "Wireless Activator" dongle.

When it cycles the "Connect"/"disconnect", what happens to the red LED. Does it stays on when "connected" and turns off when "disconnected"?

I am definitely plugged into the correct port, which works fine when I plug my iPhone directly into it with a USB connector.

I have not seen ANY LED lights, either when it worked at first, or since it stopped working. Where are the lights on the dongle box? The box is upside down when plugged into USB with my short (8”) cord.

I can try this, but one concern - I thought most or all units first needed an upgrade to version 2 before applying the regular software updates. Or is that encompassed automatically when doing a FAT32 USB stick update? I have no idea what version is now on the dongle, but I gather everybody has needed to first update to ver 2. Will a 4 GB FAT32 USB stick do the job?

You mentioned you already did an update. If you did it OTA then it’s already V2. If you did it via USB same applies.
4gb FAT32 is perfect

No, I have not been able to do any update. I tried, but before I could connect to 198.168.50.2, my WiFi and Bluetooth connections disappeared, and I have not been able to get any recognition of the dongle since then.

Try it on a friends car. That's how I've been updating mine in hope it will eventually (if ever) work.

There are two tinny LEDs on the adapter, on top of the USB receptacle. One is red and the other blue. Plug it and observe the red light and compare with the "connect"/"disconnect. Please post your results.

On my Audi S4 I’ve had a very annoying delay on phone call audio when using the dongle recently. I didn’t notice this on earlier versions so it may be a recent release issue.

Other than that, all working well still and even with the audio issue I’m using it most of the time in preference to wired. Fixing this delay would be the cherry on top.

I live in a rural area and do not know anybody else anywhere nearby who has Carplay.

I see now where the LED lights are. I will watch for them when I try again later today. Thanks.

I tried again. When it says "USB Connected," no lights are on. When it says "USB Disconnected" the red light comes on a second or two later, and stays on until it says "USB Connected. I never saw the blue light at all.

I then followed tedious instructions (18 steps) I received from Carplay2air, which included forgetting my home WiFi and 8 bluetooth devices. But I only got to their step 3, since later items depended on the dongle showing up and it had not.

I guess I will go ahead with the update from the FAT32 USB stick.

For those that are having problems to get the dongle functioning, it might be worth a try powering it up using a cable with two USB like this:

Maybe your cars usb port is not providing enough power for the dongle to work...

Also, when trying the usb disk upgrade, remember to use a usb charger to power the dongle during the process.
