Try reflashing the image using a FAT32 USB.

Download the U2W_Update.img from here http://112.74.112.110/download/2020-01-22/ and put it on a completely empty FAT32 USB stick. Plug the USB stick into the dongle, then plug the dongle into an iphone charger...not the car...and wait for both LED's

I have done this before, the image from the download site lets you upgrade via USB but not downgrade.

I followed these instructions. At first there were no LED lights. After a few seconds, the red light came on. After another 30-60 seconds, both lights came on. Does that mean the update is complete and I can unplug all and try the dongle in the car again?

For those that are having problems to get the dongle functioning, it might be worth a try powering it up using a cable with two USB like this:

Maybe your cars usb port is not providing enough power for the dongle to work...

Also, when trying the usb disk upgrade, remember to use a usb charger to power the dongle during the process.

Before anybody wastes time with this, I had the same suspicion and measured the dongle’s power consumption and it’s only 200mA, or 0.2A. Your car’s USB port is more than capable. Most put out 1A, but even a basic 500 mA port is sufficient.

I still have a very unstable dongle (random disconnects) on my WV 9.2” discover pro. Very disappointed.

I gave it a good 20 minutes or so, with both LEDs lit, then assumed it must be done. I tried it again in the car and still get nothing. Of course, I have no idea whether the update worked or not, unless having both LEDs on means it updated successfully.

Yep, that's it -- all up-to-date.

Yes, that's it all up to date.

This probably means it's not compatible with your car like a few others on here.

If you try it in a friends car, e.g. an Audi, Volvo, SEAT etc, You'll find it works.....

On my side, I had to plug the usb stick after the dongle was connected to iPhone charger ;-) but thanks for the tip

did this work for you ?

Have you actually tried this type of cable? I was a bit apprehensive with this "combination" cable and created a "alternate" power cable, feeding from an external 2.1A adapter. No go for me.

i think it is not the cable or power issue, must be another error between interface of adapter and car.
At the beginning the interface of the adapter pop up for 1-2 sec for me , now i updated the car firmware and also the stick the interface doest pop up anymore not even for 1 sec

That's similar to what I get. Although I do not get an interface, in the car headunit settings it shows that an "iPhone" is connecting and then it disconnects (I assume it powers off), then it repeats (connects and disconnects). If I use an alternate power souce (that will not disconnect), it stays on, but don't complete the initialization that causes the Bluetooth to show on the phone.

So yes, it may be a power deliver problem. Maybe the combo cable works, but I have not tried that.

forgot to mention that i have tested the adapter on a kskoda kodiaq and it wokrded without any problems
I also updated it with the latest firmware when it was connected to the SKODA, at the moment i think the interface of the dongle is not compatible to the radio software of Peugeot 5008 ( RCC / Bosch) ??!!

Hi @datolis I think i have the same issue as you. I also have a new Peugeot 5008 from November 2019. I connected to the Hyundai of a colleague following the steps given by the manufacturer, i upgraded to the latest firmware and i thought my problems were finished.
Unfortunately then i connected it to my Peugeot and... nothing. I connect it, it pairs the bluetotooh to my iphone, then i accept the carplay message, it blinks blue for a few seconds and then it disconnects.

I attach a screenshot of the number of my car system. I think we have the same.

Please could you send me the video you made so i can check if it is performing exactly in the same way?

I wrote to Julie from the client support, waiting for her feedback.

anyone else has some experience with Peugeots?

i updated in friends car and i was also able to update via USB method with charger but new firmware doesnt help at all

I don't even get the dongle interface for that fraction of second. I get exactly the same led blinking sequence on the dongle though, exactly like in the video

it looks like nobody can solve this problem for PEUGEOT 5008 at the moment, carplay2air told me to wait or send back , asked in several forum nobody was able to provide an helpfull solution ( maybe peugeot / bosch radio is blocking the adapter, i dont know, unfortunately i do not have engineer knockledge)

I don't think they are blocking it. It's just that each car manufacturer implementation of Carplay is different so they might have to work out the bugs. Let's see if after chinese new year holidays they can fix it.

Hi,

Ordered 10 days ago on AliExpress, received today (France). Works like a charm in a 2019 Seat Leon. I mention a little delay during phone calls.
@CarlinKit is this delay fixable?

Julien

Hello everyone !

does someone know if it’s possible to be connected to your car’s Bluetooth and use this dongle ?
does it uses Bluetooth only during setup or everytime you start the car ?
thank you

You can, but it’s not recommended. The instructions say to ensure that your “forget” your cars bluetooth whilst using the dongle.

i should add, I’ve not tried this. It may disconnect CarPlay if you change Bluetooth connections.

My car disconnects all bluetooth connections (it allows 2 phones at the same time) when connecting to Carplay (wired or wireless) so it's a thing that may be different for each vehicle.

In any case, I think that the phone might not allow carplay+bluetooth in the same way that it disables "ipod" music support when carplay is enabled.

I have a 2018 Peugeot 3008 which I thought was almost identical to the 5008 and it works perfectly. I have the CarLinkIt but it appears to be identical to the CarPlay2Air. Maybe the 3008 and 5008 aren’t as similar as I thought?

Amazingly, my CarLinkIt has actually added functionality to my Peugeot 3008’s CarPlay implementation.

I was always frustrated that despite being able to swipe from one page of the home screen to another, and I could swipe up and down lists, I couldn’t drag the map around on Waze, Google Maps etc. It seemed like an odd omission as the built in sat nav supports multitouch. Now I’m connecting using the CarLinkIt, I can! It’s very slightly laggy but not bad at all. Pinch to zoom doesn’t work which is a shame but I’m very pleased to be able to drag now. Just in case it was something to do with the latest iOS beta, I tried the wire again and dragging definitely doesn’t work.
