Does your car has a factory navigation system and a factory CarPlay? In that case it will probably work.
I have a 5008 from late 2019 without a factory navigation system and mine does not work at all even with the latest firmware
I have both, but heard also in the past from people, that even then there are some problems.

Thank you for the input.

For the price and time being, I'll just stick without it. It would be great if Apple came out with a reliable dongle for this, because as we can see, that's not a hardware limitation.

It's sad that I have a mk3.5 Leon with CarPlay, but for me, it's like if I don't have it at all. Using cables on the car with a built in QI charger feels wrong and MIB2 bluetooth calls, music and GPS works flawlessly, why risk more than 100€ for something that won't work most of the time.

The only thing I like most on Apple CarPlay is the fact that you can use 3rd party apps (Waze, Spotify) and a better UI overall, other than that, is just a gimmick.

Hi Miguel,

I have a 2019 Seat Leon with Carlinkit. It works like a charm, a little delay during calls but it's ok.

Yes, I agree to this. Thats why I gave it a try. Although CarPlay is working great wired, I am not using it because of inconvenience. Let's find out if a new software version can fix the current issues. In case the performance of the adapter would be reliable over time (not only some minutes) I would give it a clear recommendation.
Anyhow, just let me know if it's working better on iPhone 8. Just curious... (I have a X).

Mine's a 2018 facelift version (which should be the same as the 2019).

I assumed that air2play would work better than carlinkit, how about the call's lag? I really use calls a lot on ca and default MIB2 bluetooth is just great with no lag or whatsoever.

Why should the Carplay2Air work better? After all, they are the same devices - only the name is different

Yes, mine is a facelift as well. And carplay2air and carlinkit are exactly the same devices, so carplay2air will not be better.
Just to be clear, you have 1 second of latency.

Are there 2 models of the carlinkit as the only one I've seen are for Android head units?
There are actually 3 different types:
- Wired Carplay for Android Units
- Wireless Carplay for Android Units
- "Wireless Carplay Enabler" for Factory Head Units (U2W-01-Plus)

How’s the connection speeds and stutters? Do you experience any? I’ll probably give it a shot if you say that your connection is stable. Because it seems that either you get luck with your HU compatibility or it’s just a flop. Which firmware version do you have?

edit:I thought they were different devices because one are quite expensive than the other. What are the differences then other than the price?

Connection speed is about 30 seconds (avg.)
It happens sometimes that i have micro cuts when listening, music but it's insignificant.
Mine is 6P0, but i don't have the firmware version right now with me.

Edit: Connection is stable once connected, never experienced a disconnection. You have to choose the most expensive, other ones are for andoid head units.

What do you mean by micro cuts when listening?

I don’t know if you checked my edited answer: does it differs from carplay2air?

Microcut: like a 1/100 second of music lost, you understand what i mean? (i'm French, bad english)
From what i see, carplay2air and carlinkit are exactly the same devices. I have Carlinkit, so i can't tell about carplay2air.

Can you still summon Siri by hold pressing the steering wheel button?

Short update on my test with the iPhone 8. Unfortunately the iPhone 8 has the same issues (bad performance after some minutes, stuttering audio and hanging UI) like the iPhone 11 Pro has while using the adapter. Either my car hardware does not work well with the adapter or the issue is a combination of adapter version, iPhones and car hardware. I will wait for updates (last one from January 22nd).

I thought I'd provide my experience here because this is one of the places I read to decide if I should buy a wireless carplay dongle. So far glad I didn't listen to the comments here regarding Mazda.

Car: Mazda CX-5 2019
Dongle: Carlinkit for Factory system from Aliexpress

It's been working pretty well for me for the past two days. No crashes and reconnects automatically when I start the car. There is some call lag as others mention. Hope to see more improvements with updates. It was not working well until I did two things.

1. Update Carlinkit to latest version
2. Update Mazda Infotainment to the latest firmware (70.00.352B)

I just updated the Mazda firmware a few days ago and it made a huge difference. Before that it often wouldn't reconnect at startup and would crash the system every once in a while. It's too soon to know if all the main issues are gone but I will update if they start to happen again.

I'm a little bit confused – is there any difference between the following adapters?

Adapter 1

Adapter 2

I ordered the first one yesterday. Am I correct in assuming these are the same ones?

edit: Nevermind, I saw that they have the same product number below in the product description. My goodness, how can they come up with the idea to offer two articles under different links that are exactly identical? 🤨

How did you update your Mazda firmware? I have a 2019 CX-5 as well. I Googled and searched around on how to do it a week or two ago. Instructions I found seemed to be a couple years old. Did you just go to a Mazda dealer and have them do it, or did you do it from home? If from home, can you link to the instructions you used? I should check which firmware version I have. See if I have what you list above. Just got my CX-5 in late July. So, maybe I got mine later than you and it already has that version??

Last week I posted in this thread about having issues with nothing at all happening on a 2016 Silverado, but having it work in 2015 Tahoe (with 2017 infotainment hardware).

The Tahoe always had issues with steering wheel controls totally not working with my wife's iPhone XS, but working with my iPhone 11.

I spent an hour in the Tahoe with her phone, and found "Settings -> Return to Factory Settings -> Clear All Private Data". Suddenly the steering wheel controls started working again with her phone.

So then I figured let me go try this in the Silverado and try the Carplay2air adapter again. Boom, it worked instantaneously!

FWIW, here are the settings screens:
