I had an activation issue and updated my log file and contacted car2play support a week ago. They said they contacted their engineering team, but i have not heard anything back since then. I had a version 11.11 that i have been flashing but needs to be activated...

i knew car2play support would be choppy so i bought a carlinkit through amazon cuz it had two day shipping. That arrived on saturday and is working like a charm on 2.0.

so now i have a bricked car2play and waiting on them to activate and a working carlinkit that i will probably never flash. Maybe i will contact carlinkit support and ask them to activate the bricked car2play. Thinking they could be using the same activation server.

I’ve done a video on it if anyone is interested?

nice review. even nicere car ;) i have the little brother. 2019 ioniq ev.

i got my adapter few days ago, i first unpaired my phone from the car, and " forgot " connection, also from the car bt menu i chose to " forgeth " my phone, then i connected the adapter. and both connected perfectly on the first run.

I also have a Compass (2020) and the same happens, at least with the firware version I have (not updated in a while).

Do you get a blue ligth on the dongle when connected to the car? All Iget is a red light that soon vanishes and it loops (looking at the UConnect settings the device appears for a while and then.. gone).

latest Uconnect version is 8.4, You can check it with your VIN number https://www.driveuconnect.com/support/software-update.html
i only get solid red light, I can see a device added in Uconnect menu "iphone" but when i clinic on iphone nothing happens.

So I updated to the 3-4 image this morning and it appears the crackling audio is gone. I made it 25 mins without an issue. This is in a GMC Sierra. Only issue I have found is I still can’t adjust the audio for maps. Other then that working great.

I flashed 2020-03-04 last night and immediately noticed a big improvement in GPS. With my phone in my back pants pocket, both Apple Maps and Google Maps were keeping up with my position on the map. That was not happening with 2020-02-17 and before. I didn't flash any of the interim versions, so it's possible that was fixed in one of those versions.

I don't know if it's using my car's GPS, or if it just improved its ability to use the phone's GPS signal. Not sure how to determine that. But I'm very happy with the improvement nevertheless.

Anyone else seeing the same thing?

2018 GMC Sierra.

So I did the manual usb update yesterday to 3-4-2020 no more audio shuttering but a little laggy on the screen. I did the update this morning to 3-5-2020 audio shuttering is back after about 5 minutes but not laggy. It’s weird it’s one or the other. But they are getting close.

I was going to mention the interface seemed to be a bit snappier. But all I was doing was skipping songs from the steering wheel. That seemed quicker then normal. I’ll give it a better workout on the way home tonight. I’m happy with being able to listen to my play lists without pausing every 5 minutes. Lol

What is "shuttering"? I've seen that term mentioned several times and I'm not familiar with it. Do you mean stuttering? or shuddering? Maybe post a video of what it sounds like. I believe that Carlinkit support people do check this thread, as one of them asked me for the link to it. So if you can post a video of the problem maybe that will help them understand/fix it.

I am noticing very few audio artifacts on my Ford. When they happen they are just momentary and the audio goes back to normal.

Sorry to hear you're in the same boat.

Did they say the Return postage costs would be covered? I've sent them proof that the item was mis sold.

They put me to activate PayPal's Return Shipping and then to send the package to that address. I've talked with them about my concern about the return address being fake and this they answered to me :

Thank you for your reply.

I understand that have been asked to return an item to an address that you suspect are a fake address.

In order to be legible for a refund, you would need to return the item to the address that you have been given by PayPal.
This address is provided by seller as an address they can receive return goods to.

If seller have provided a fake address, or refuse to receive the item, that would be seen as sellers problem.

I will advice that you return the item to the address provided by PayPal, and ensure that you use a tracking number so PayPal can follow the package.

Furthermore I will advice that you get a receipt from the shipping company, showing the address that you have shipped your item to, as a proof of shipment.

With a tracking number and a proof of shipment showing the address you sent the item too, you have done everything correct.

@ 2018 Denali and 2018 Sierra,
I have a 2017 Tahoe Premier and the dongle will not work unless I unplug it and plug it back in after the Infotainment center starts. Do either of you have that issue? I would think the Chevy would work the same as a GMC. I'm on firmware 2020-01-22 and have the same shuttering/stuttering issue. When I go to OTA update is says I'm on the current version.

Please go to page 61 on this thread.

On it I put the modification I did so the stereo boots up first before the carplay2air does. This was done in my center console.

stuttering is the artifacts you hear. Factory equipped Wireless Carplay in the 2020 BMW 3 series with an iPhone 11 Pro doesn’t have artifact/ stuttering with audio so the CarPlay2Air should not either.

So attached is a video of the shuttering I’m talking about. It starts after around 5 minutes of audio play. A quick pause/play on the app gets it working for another 5 minutes or so.

It didn’t let me upload video. So here is a YouTube link to it.

Yeah I haven't had anything like that before with the Carlinkit in my Ford. Can you check to see if it happens with any source? Looks like that is internet radio? What about playing music you already have on your phone? I'm not necessarily expecting it to be any different, but would be worth making sure it happens on every source.

Is it always five minutes in? Does it vary at all? Like is it sometimes 4 minutes and sometimes 6?

Yes it happens with all audio,

Pandora, music App with songs download to phone, Spotify, radio App.

It’s not 5 minutes exactly can vary from 3-6 minutes. I have to pause then un-pause to get it sounding right.

With the manual USB update from 3-4-20 it stopped Shuttering. But was A little lagging in responding to touch screen. So I manually updated to 3-5-20 and shuttering returned.

Try going back to 2020-03-04 (via USB) and see if you can reproduce your finding that there was no audio distortion with that FW. One problem with these rapid-fire firmware releases is we hardly have time to put each one through any kind of thorough testing.

That’s the plan when I get home. I will be flashing it back to 3-4-20 firmware. To see if it stops shuttering again.

Given my experience with carplay i'd say you probably want your phone to be charging when running GPS and other carplay related stuff anyway. Which, unless you have an induction charger in your car means plugging the thing in...
