Thank you all for this thread. It was helpful in determining the differences (not) between the carplay2play and Carlinkit And in so many other ways. I agree that it is best to buy from somewhere like Amazon direct with a return policy. It is also sold on Ebay, some other sites. Ebay I believe offer some protections as well. I was tempted by the new detachable USB C cable model. I was within my return period but with Covid did not want to deal with an extra trip to UPS and waiting for the “new” to become available directly.

I had been very happy with January OTA firmware (with my Palisade). Until I think a recent Apple update caused all kinds of issues. GPS loss lock, audio skipping, etc.

Just completed Carlinkit 3.06 update (that you folk were kind enough to post). Will try 3.07 update if needed (that you all were also Kind enough to post). OTA updates seem stuck at Jan 23. I Have not seen anything newer then 3.07 mentioned here or elsewhere.

I done that also...thanks....I finally got it work, left the truck...went back later, left the unit plugged in, didn't connect. I tried it in my Corvette.....left the unit plugged in went back about a hour later....works every time . Unfortunately I bought it for my truck. I could be wrong, do you think it's a faulty unit, even though it works with my Corvette every-time? Just not my truck?
Thanks again

Does it work in your truck if you connect the CarPlay2air dongle after the stereo is completely turned on?

Theres a 3/6 and 3/7 version??

Have searched this thread but can’t find any definitive information. Does anyone know if there is an adapter for a car with a USB-C port? I have a W177 2019 Mercedes A Class (with MBUX and the optional CarPlay upgrade), but lots of reviews online say early wireless adapters didn’t work with USB-C ports, even with an A to C adapter. Has this changed?

I highly doubt an adapter will work. Have you bought the option and had the dealer turn CarPlay on? Does the dealer sell an a proprietary cable to make normal CarPlay work?

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, I already have wired CarPlay. It was a paid upgrade on my MBUX system. It works via a normal USB-C to Lightning cable. I just haven’t seen one of these wireless adapters with a native male USB-C port yet.

If one were to work, I’m guessing the new one with the removable USBC might. You would need to get a USBC male to male.

My Vette does run the same system, as far as I know. 2019 Silverado. I did the update for it in my Vette. My Silverado is up to date. Sending it back I’m assuming would be expensive plus the 25

Hi, 2019 Silverado and yes it has wired car play. I got it to work again, but had to delete it from Bluetooth and any other bluetooth devices first and not be connected to any wifi. It took forever to get a connection. Left the truck and went back in 5 mins later...again it wouldn't re-connect. My Vette works every time and no problems. Suggestions please?

As good as these adapters are native wireless is going to better if you have it. As to the 3.06 and 3.07 (March updates) there in this thread posted and saved prior to them disappearing of carlinkit download site by fellow forum members. The saved firmware are page 73 of this thread. Really wish this forum allowed for (perhaps it does) a sticky page where these firmware, instructions etc. could be posted at the head of this thread. OTA still works but it will only get the January updates. Some claim if you know the correct format you can find newer updates but the pages get .404 errors unless you back pretty far out of the URL and thier is no navigation on the landing page to anything.

As far as directions: Fat32 format (preferably a smaller 4GB or 8GB memory stick [supposedly anything 64gb or less works]) and copy the .img image file to root of the stick. Get a small USB charger brick (not sure if some are too powerful) plug it into power and plug the carlinkit/carplay into that and of course plug the memory stick into the Carlinkit/carplay. I had mine pre-plugged before plugging the carlinkit/carplay into powre. At the point below where carlinkit/carplay female USB plug is are little LED that will start off red glowing then change to red and blue at which point its done.... Does not take very long but I would give it a couple of minutes so you less likely to brick your carlinkit/carplay.

Notes: I used an old 4GB memory stick, an iphone 5 watt charge adapter. I have plenty of more powerful ones and Anker usb multi chargers but was being cautious. Generally electronics only draw the power they need. A video I watched had these directions and the person used that 5 watt adapter.

I have a 2019 traverse and just don’t have any issues as long as... Bluetooth is not paired from the phone to the car. You have to make sure the phone forgets the car. And I don’t plug it in until after the screen is fully loaded in the car. Also it only works in certain USB ports.

Thanks, I'll try that. Support said in time, not sure how much time....it will connect automatically and I can leave it plugged in all the time.

Yes to skipping thats why i upgraded to 3.06 and 3.07. Both work much better now on GPS lock in limited testing. In brief test 3.06 still had audio skipping. Mind you could also be cell reception. The cached updates are on page 73 of this forum. For some reason the company itself does not seem to have any non OTA updates posted anymore.

If you keep using the existing URL and replace the date accordingly, you will be able to see if there is a new file or not. If the file is downloading (e.g. for 2020-03-06) you know that there is one. If you receive the 404 message you will know there is no new file.

Code:
http://112.74.112.110/download/YYYY-MM-DD/U2W_Update.img

I confirmed that the only downloadable file seems to be the OTA January 22nd file (either from OTA or via browser using provided format). March 6 and 7 only archived here. Tried every date using provided format from March 6 to April 25 nothing. I tried backing out of the URL what level at a time to get a directory, did not work. The server IP itself brings up an interesting page requiring a user name and password.

I don’t think there is a 3-7-20 manual update for Carplay2air.

3-6-20 was the last one that worked.

can you attach a screen shot of your adapter showing 3-7-20 installed?

By going to 192.168.50.2 while connected to the CarPlay2air.

Mine is the Carlinkit not Carplay2air though they are supposed to be the same. I will try as you say next trip to the car regardless.

I'm the one who posted it here and have been running it since early March with no major issues. Aren't you the one who tried it and found that it gave you audio glitches, requiring you to downgrade back to 20200306?

No 3-6-20 was the highest I was able to upgrade too manually.

Yes it happens with all audio,

Pandora, music App with songs download to phone, Spotify, radio App.

It’s not 5 minutes exactly can vary from 3-6 minutes. I have to pause then un-pause to get it sounding right.

With the manual USB update from 3-4-20 it stopped Shuttering. But was A little lagging in responding to touch screen. So I manually updated to 3-5-20 and shuttering returned.

3-6-20 was the last manual update shuttering also stopped with this on my 2018GMC Sierra

Ah, yeah I misremembered. It was 2020305 that didn't work for you and you downgraded to 20200304 (but then subsequently upgraded to 0306).

Not sure why 20200307 didn't work for you--I've had no problems with it. Did you just not get the blue light when trying to flash it?

not sure why but I was not able to manually install 3-7-20.

can you take a screenshot of your adapter on 3-7-20?

Bookemdano i just did as 2018 Danali asked and had the device check the version that you have posted as 3-7, its actually 3-4. See screen shot below. The modification date was also 3-4. Worked well in testing regardless. Can you as well check your installed version? I still have to check the one posted as 3-6 as i did not do so prior to switching it out.
