That is the last straw.
[I see now I'm hardly the only person who felt the same]
Move with the times, Steve was never a man for nostalgia a comment he made a few years ago about his return to Apple, we gave the museum to Stanford. The Apple we knew and love is now dead. RIP Apple.
Yup. Don't care about any auto-power features, there's a power button for that reason. I'd rather hear an iconic startup sound instead of nothing when I'm powering up my Mac.You'd rather hear a "chime" than have a MacBook power on automatically when you flip the lid?
Wow. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Clearly you haven't lived. This is the saddest I have ever been.
I would like to add to your comment that this chime is actually symbolic to the company.Yup. Don't care about any auto-power features, there's a power button for that reason. I'd rather hear an iconic startup sound instead of nothing when I'm powering up my Mac.
I've been trying to tell people.I'm not sure exactly who y'all refers to, but it's not as if we had a lot of say in the matter. I've been on a Mac for around ten years. Bought my first iPhone this year (SE, thank you). I'd hapily put the phone in a blender to set this ship back on course.

Oh, come on. A little hyperbole never killed anyone (I better fact check that).
I've been trying to tell people.
I've been telling this entire forum for years. If you keep supporting every Apple decision, even though it's disadvantageous for your wallet then you are EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE for Apple's downhill slide.
Everyone's acting so surprised by the lackluster Macs released recently. But I tried to tell them this is what would happen. I can't really take their complaining as sincere. We tried to tell them.
Don't complain about these Macs now. Don't complain about the lack of ports, the dongles, the hassle. Just buy it like you always do. Do NOT walk out on Apple now. I can't let them get away with that.
Your only real gripe here is the extension cord. Everything else is pretty much cosmetic. No more glowing logo. No more extension cord with a multi-thousand dollar laptop. No more control over when my computer boots up.
No more control over when my computer boots up.
Disable boot on power source and boot on lid open by running this on terminal:I really hope there is a way to disable auto-startup. It's a needless convenience.
Disable boot on power source and boot on lid open by running this on terminal:
sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00
Enable it again by running
sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03
You’re welcome.
Oh I’m not done yet.you just rendered this thread moot
Unfortunately? I can't imagine not having an integrated optical drive! Not to mention I love that little mechanical whirring. One of the things I hate about Apple's computers nowadays is the lack of integrated optical drives. Not to mention MagSafe power adapters. Thankfully my 2012 MBP is plenty powerful for me, so I shouldn't have to replace it for a good long while. The optical drive powering up, I could definitely do without. I'll be living with that for another year at least unfortunately. But the startup sound is iconic.
I'm disappointed - it's kind of a nostalgia thing for me - but I'm WAY more disappointed they got rid of the SD slot.![]()
When I saw this headline, I flippantly thought, "I'm sure the haters in the forums will berate Apple for this horrific change as well."
Thanks for not letting me down, Apple Haters.
