I honestly think it's actually been a victim of some unwarranted negative attention in regards to the screen resolution. And anybody upgrading from an X or 8+ to this shouldn't bother. This phone is for 5,6 and 7 series owners. If you're coming from any phone in that series you'll be extremely happy.

It's actually a pretty decent phone that perhaps is slightly overpriced. If they had sold it for 699 starting instead of 749 it would have made a massive difference and I bet it would be sold out now.

Its actually not too bad, a bit too expensive and the screen resolution is disappointing. But in person it’s a really nice phone.

My opinion is that the XR is too big. If it had been smaller, I would have consider it. As it is, I bought a XS. I wanted to downsize from my 7+.

Correct. There’s just one major reason the XR isn’t doing better. And that is that it’s too big. Way too big. Should have been 5.2-5.5”.

Sure, had they also reduced the price to 649 as well, that would put the sales on steroids. But even without that, it would have sold much better than its selling now.

The thing is, the market is Europe and America. Asian countries don’t buy anything but flagships, so until there is a huge price difference they’ll just buy XS/Max.

Other companies would love to have sales numbers as good as Apple’s “failures”.

The 5C was a failure. Crap specs and crap design at a crap price point. The XR is the type of device the 5C should’ve been and it’s clearly a popular phone.

Beyond some arbitrary independent analyst’s quota not being met, I honestly can’t see how anybody with reasonable judgement could class the XR as a failure.
The 5C seemed very popular when released, I saw them everywhere. They were a super cheap business phone too.

The XR is literally the only phone worth buying right now. The A12 Bionic is miles ahead of competition and the usability of iOS 12 puts Android to shame. Xs/Max offer no substantial benefits over the XR. It could still be a failure because of market saturation, but don’t expect any other phone to sell more units.

Have to disagree, IMO IOS is outdated, juvenile, very limited and also feels extremely slow especially scrolling on Safari. This is Apple, the richest company in the whole entire world, they should have some amazing software development and we have this boring barely changed 11 year old iOS. Yawn.

Mac OS X has barely changed in 18 years. A dock, a menu bar and overlapping windows with traffic lights in the top left corner. Boring!

It’s a sign of excellence, if an operation system has a sound foundation and principles that stay untouched and build a reliable framework for apps.

Windows 1.0 didn’t even had a taskbar and a start button and now Windows 10 bombards you with touchable tiles instead of clickable buttons. These changes are exciting until they break your workflow than they are frustrating.

Apple is the richest company, because it rarely does crazy things. The first iPhone was exciting, every iteration is just an improvement of the same concept. They got it right the first time.

The art is to make it better without making it worse.

There are a lot of reports suggesting the iPhone 7 and 8 series are selling pretty well at present too. It’s not fast processors that are driving the market right now, it’s price.

Same. I bought the red one and I think its the best looking phone Apple has ever created. And Im so vain, i hope it dosent become mainstream

The red is really nice indeed

But loving my blue. It’s like a 5c / 8 / Mini-XSMax mash up.

Last years A11 Bionic is literally not fast enough to complete certain operations like enhanced FaceID and Smart HDR photography in time. They don’t run slower, it simply doesn’t work at all. Not even a jailbreak can add these features to an iPhone X.

Furthermore the A12 is on a 7nm process and consumes less energy. In combination with a lower resolution screen the XR outperformes even an XS Max and doesn’t run hot after hours of gaming.

The iPhones 7 and 8 aren’t much different from 6 and 6s. Everyone interested in this form factor already has one that is fast enough for basic stuff.

YOU cannot see it, there are a ton of us who can and are bothered by apple greedy ways ;)
The greedy company who reduced the price of its flagship device by 25% and gave us an inexpensive $50 upgrade option. Last year was the time to complain about greed.

Tell that to the people buying them then lol. To be honest I don’t see a lot of truth in what you are saying there in my own experience. The iPhone 8 and 8+ are great phones and I can see why they are popular now they’ve come down in price a little.

Have you seen the price increases in everything else they released this year? Yeah, XR is the best value for recently released device, but not without some small sacrifices. I would’ve bought the new iPad and Mac Mini if it wasn’t for the gouging.

And the new MacBook Air is also not to shabby, if money is not an issue. I even like the new Apple Watch. All great products with price as their only downside.

To you, this is true...not for everyone. You know what's great? people have choices. I've talked to plenty of people including a few Apple employees who prefer the XS cause of the smaller and lighter form factor. The weight difference is noticeable.

Others find the XS and the XR a bit too small and prefer the XS Max. To each their own...
