I feel for all you folks waiting for the 3G. The problem is that there is a basic disconnect between AT&T's sales side and it's shipping side.

Back in March I ordered a 1st Gen via AT&T website on a saturday. With 2 day shipping, I figured it would arrive on Wed at the latest. Soon after I ordered it I got a confirmation number via email.

On monday morning I decided to check on the order's status via the website, and suprise, even with the confirmation number, I got a big blank. I checked that afternoon, and again nothing. My card hadn't been charged as well. Frustrated I called and the lady I talked too was suprised as well, she said it should have registererd by then, but to be safe she said wait till tommorow. I called back the next day, and of course the website and the CSR had no record of my order. Assured that it should have registered by then, and there must have been a 'glitch' I decided to make the 45 min drive to the nearest AT&T store and picked up my phone that night.

You can guess what happened next. The next day I recivieved and email that told me that my Iphone had shipped and my card had been charged! Needless to say I was upset that I now had over $800 of charges on my card and after being told by 3 CSR that it was safe to go and buy another iphone and that my internet order didn't exist.

I called DHL to refuse shipment and the phone never reached my door, but to add insult to injury, AT&T charged me the 10% restocking fee! The CSR I talked too told me that the package had to of been opened for them to charge that, but after I explained to her that I had never even seen the package, much less opened it she credited my account the restocking fee.

Long story, but it illustrates AT&T's incompetence. They did take care of me in the end.

Ok - so I ordered a 16 gig white and a 16 gig black - went to the store today because 1 arrived - the white.

Apparently the blacks are shipping slower. Unfortunately the white is for my girlfriend so I dont get to use it yet

I just picked up my 8g df. And I'm using it right now! I asked the guy how long people ordering now could expect 7-10 days.

I am getting pretty worried about how long we are going to have to wait. None of the orders for my store have shipped since Tuesday. The status has flipped from backordered to not backordered, but none have updated to shipped since then.

Scanned my store again.

Yesterday morning 13 had changed to show freight no longer backordered.

As of this morning, it only shows 3 have shipped, and none of the 13 that showed freight as not backordered.

One of those that have shipped is from SUNDAY, even though only 1 of the 19 Saturday orders have shipped, and it still shows the first 6 orders from Friday 7/11 have NOT shipped.

What a @#$@*& system. It is either showing random data, or AT&T has the worst order fulfillment system on earth.

It seems that either this website isn't being updated anymore or AT&T is totally and completely messed up, or both.

Makes me want to cancel on principle.

I ordered my 8GB on Friday around 5:00 PM EST.
I picked it up last night at the AT&T Store in South Jersey.

Let me just say... It was worth the wait. Hang in there guys, you won't be disappointed!

update

So, I hadn't had any updates online really, but had a call from the Rep I bought from and said to come pick up my 16gb iphone. I drove 20 miles last night to pick it up and my phone wasn't in!

They took my receipt and put it on someone else's box. That guy was there right then buying it. It was an 8gb so I couldn't do anything about it, but it got my hopes up. I guess I'll have no phone for my vacation tomorrow.

Random

I've been monitoring my status hourly via RSS. I placed my order placed on Tuesday. FRT has always been back-ordered. The phone went on back-order yesterday and now its back to its normal status.

I'm hoping it doesn't take the 5-8 weeks the AT&T store employee told me it would take to get my order in. Is that a reasonable time line to expect to wait?

Scanning my store orders looks like only 1 order was filled. Anyone else see so few orders go out?

I was at my local AT&T store yesterday picking up my wife's Sony Ericsson 750. And there was quite a few people picking up their DF orders from 7/11. I think the order_status page is a waste of time until it gives you a tracking number. Because I got home and checked and at the time order status was only showing 2 out of 100 phones shipped. But the rep even told me they have been receiving them everyday and received around 30 yesterday. So don't go by the order status page. I am impatiently waiting for mine to ship as well.

I have some time because I only ordered early sunday morning.

Date Ordered: 7/11
Location: Toms River, NJ
Model: 8GB

I was told 7-10 days but maybe earlier.

Anyone see where their store had DF orders shipped yesterday? My store had none according to the status website.

Same here. However, I was at my store yesterday and they got at least 30 DF orders in. So the order status site sucks.

16gb Black Shipped

Hey guys. I've been reading this thread for a while now (since July 12th or so) and just wanted to offer up some information.

I live in Shreveport, Louisiana (over the summer at least) and I placed a direct fulfillment with AT&T on my lunch break on July 11th. That puts my DF order at approximately 12:30 PM central time, 1:30 PM eastern time. My order remained "back-ordered" until yesterday, when it briefly changed from back-ordered to non back-ordered and back to back-ordered. Apparently however, my iPhone left the warehouse at about 10:00 PM last night, when for me the AT&T order status page was still showing back-ordered.

AT&T does seem to be working hard to get these things shipped out, and it really seems that if you ordered in the first day or two you WILL be getting them soon. After all, AT&T wants your higher contract rates as soon as possible. ;P

I agree, while this is an inconvenience and most of us are extremely impatient when it comes to our new toys (I know i am). AT&T is working very hard to get the phones shipped out. The demand may have been under estimate by apple. It takes time to churn new units out of the factories, then those units have to be shipped over seas to apple. Then apple ships them to AT&T. Then AT&T ships them to us. Most of us that ordered over the weekend should have our phones soon.

I think i wrote that for myself more then anyone else. I want my phone.

Maybe that would explain why so few are marked as shipped yesterday.

confirmation mail?

just wondering how long it has taken people to get their confirmation email after making a DF order? i ordered yesterday at 2PM and have not gotten an email yet, nor can i log onto the att order tracking page and see my order, but my order does show up on the queue tool that other poster made.

I received mine at 9:48 pm Sunday evening, I placed the order around 2:00 pm.

On a side note, I checked the status of my store this morning and they show only one phone having been shipped.
I am number 13 & 14 on the list now. It seems other stores are receiving theirs ahead of mine. Their are still 10 people from the 11th and 12th who haven't received their phones.
