Aaaaaaand, my phone shipped.

16GB White (thank goodness I don't like black) ordered Saturday at about 3:30 PM PDT.

My backorder status was flipping pretty regularly up to this morning, when it started staying at backordered. It was shipped at about 12:30, and it just now showed up in the status page.

And just for the record, I still haven't received my order confirmation e-mail.

The way AT&T works you'll probably get your email right after you get a call to come pick up your phone.
 
Oh, and looking at the scraper, the orders that have shipped around me are few and far between, so it must only be the 16GB whites that have shipped.
 
I went to the roosevelt field mall on long island too but I couldnt get it because im not that primary on my plan(sucks). I went over to at&t in carle place and ordered the 16black. Im assuming i wont get it for a while? Considering I ordered it on Wed. :(
 
Okie dokie, I am a newbie here but have been lurking for a quite a few years.

I wanted an iPhone before the whole 3G mess came out. I went to get one a few months ago but they had pulled them all, no biggie, I would wait for the new one. BTW - I am w/ TMobile (here in the states) and have been with them since they were Voice Stream.

So EVERYTIME I call ATT about ordering one (since every store east of jesus are sold out or has some crazy 2 hour wait) they say if I ordered it I would have to wait 1+2 months and they they hang up on me? Huh? I understand their frustration but that is their job?

The guys at the Apple store have a minimum 2 hour wait and were much more informative but could not tell me if I would wait in line for nothing. ATT seems like a bunch of pricks. So far their customer service has been crap. God forbid I call them with an actual problem? I am sure I would get the big FU.

Am I wrong? Tell me if I am just having a bad experience. Also, if I do decide to take the plunge I am wondering if I would be able to get one by Xmas...seriously, I am not joking.
 
I just got off the phone with at&t customer support for the 2nd time. The fact that they are shipping the orders out of order (for the same model) is unacceptable. When someone who was in line behind me and didn't wait as long gets theirs first something is not working as it should be. This completely defeats the purpose of lines and orders. They might as well be pulling people's names from a giant hat. This is NOT how you do business.

I have been with AT&T for 5+ years (Cingular then AT&T) and in general I haven't had too much of an issue with their customer service if I had an actual problem. Sales is another thing though, and that is completely dependent on the person you interact with.

I just ordered my iPhones this past Sunday, so still waiting. My experience aside from this DF fiasco has been very good.
My CSR has been great, she even called me early on Sunday morning to twll me that they did not receive any phones in so I would waste my time coming down early.

I have emailed her twice and she has replied and I even had an issue with the porting on one of the lines and called yesterday, My rep was off but the store manager could not have been more helpful and nice.

I only hope the remainder of my experience is this good. I had been with Verizon for 8+ years and had great service with them.

Actually I think AT&Ts costumer service has been very good. I'm not really addressing the DF situation, but just overall. I switched from Sprint a few months ago. I've had to call customer services a couple of times and I've also exchanged a couple of phones and they have been really good so far, especially compared to Sprint.
 
does anyone see any shipments for today (7/17)? i have been checking my store's queue and i see no shipments today, yet anyway.

My store hasn't showed any shipments from yesterday OR today. I don't mean to be dramatic, but I am beginning to feel like it's NEVER going to ship! The way they're shipping all out of order, and all this talk of shortages just feels rather dodgy. I called my AT&T store and got a bit grumpy with one of the sales people, but she was very nice and reassuring...even though she probably doesn't know any more than I do. :(

Looking at other posts on here, it doesn't appear the shortage has hit the Apple Stores. People are walking out with all models. and at some it appears there are no lines and the store still has stock.

The only shortage being experienced is that of AT&T.

I actually had a very pleasant experience with the rep when i did my DF. She was very nice, and knowledgeable.

I wasn't expecting much; I have been with AT&T since pre-Cingular days and I was very disappointed by the service I received during the Cingular era, the reps were always rude and arrogant (why? idk) when I went to buy a phone (the original AT&T service where I live was amazing, all of the reps were really experienced and even remembered customer's names, and the AT&T product was really superb compared to the competition IMO).

I have to say, that atleast here the in-store service is improving. The whole DF thing is nonsense however...
 
I just switched to att from tmobile just for the iphone and so far not a pleasent experience but hope is still there after I receive my phone. My status has stayed the same for a few hours now at backordered so hopefully something happens overnite because I ordered mine early friday morning. I'm anxious to check out the app store! The manager at my att store assured me that mine should be in by the end of the week at the latest; so hopefully he is right!

I would say in store is improving too. Back when I first signed up, man those guys were horrible. DF is a fiasco extraordinaire.

Tell me about it, One guy actually responded to my dad with "Are you dumb?" when he asked a question about his voicemail service that was not working.. The funny part was the rep couldn't figure out what was wrong after he made the remark. (This was right after the switch from AT&T to cingular, when all the old AT&T employees quit)

but...

16GB White = 146 pending, 27 shipped = 18% of orders shipped

makes me glad i ordered a white one :)

Ugh. 2nd DF order at my store on Friday. At least 30 people behind me have received phones. Why exactly did I wait in line at 6am for this treatment?

I would take that with a grain of salt. People are more likely to use that tool if theirs has not shipped yet.

mine shipped as well. white ordered saturday. hang in there everyone, hopefully you all get em soon.
