AT&T Updates VERY slow

I ordered a black 16G at about 9:15 AM Central on Friday. As late as 6:00 AM today the AT&T status page said FRT and PHONE back ordered (PHONE had flipped several times Wednesday and Thursday). I checked again at 6:20 AM and it shipped last night.

The first 6 iPhones to the Apple Valley, MN store have shipped (the 2nd was white and shipped 7/15) plus 54 others further down the queue.

So while AT&T's shipping may be slow, their updates are hours behind (I still don't have a confirmation e-mail but I do have a fedex tracking number).

I hope everyone else gets quick shipment and AT&T figures out how to get the updates out faster.

Mine shipped!

Ordered a White 16 around noon on Saturday. Never got an email (still haven't). The guy in the store told me I would get it mid-to late this week, and that I would get an email when it arrived.

The 1s and 0s meant nothing for me - all last night it was listed as backordered. Checked this am and it apparently shipped yesterday at 5pm. Should be here by 3pm.

By way of comparison - I placed an order with C&B for some clearance stuff Saturday night. It's been in FedEx's hands for a couple days, but probably won't get here until tomorrow.

The most important thing is that I didn't spend 3-5 hours waiting in line at an Apple store.

ordered monday at about 4 pm 16 GB white.

didn't get an email but the tracker shows as shipped.

supposed to be here today!!!

Ordered mine on Wed the 16th. It shipped last night, it's in NY today... slight chance I may actually get it today!!!

I've been lurking all week and I wanted to thank everyone for the updates. My wife and I ordered 16g Blacks on 7/11 around 9am and have been waiting all week. We were probably about 18th in line, and I think there were 4-5 orders in front of us online. Finally, our phones shipped last night.

I am very frustrated with this experience, mainly because of people that ordered later getting their phones first. As for the short supply at AT&T, I'm not sure who's fault that would be. Maybe Apple didn't send many, but maybe AT&T didn't order many. I do know that I heard multiple AT&T employees say that there wouldn't be that big of a demand and they would have plenty. They were saying that based on last year when the phone was 600 freaking dollars.

Anyway, I hope you all get your phone soon and leave the frustration of waiting behind. Thanks for the updates and good luck!

Ordered mine on 7/14, and my status says I will receive it today by 3PM! It flew out of Memphis, TN, and it will be delivered to Modesto, CA! :) I can't wait. I ordered a white one, but now I think I want black. Hopefully they will have one in for me.

Since I have to be back on business travel by Monday (plus leaving for the race track today) I'm going to buckle and head out to the local Apple store, since they've shown stock all week long. I might just keep the "DF" phone for regular use when it does finally come-in.

I ordered mine this past Saturday, I think 5 days should have sufficed enough IMO.

Good luck to the rest ...

Yesterday there were 70 iPhone orders before mine (I ordered on Monday the 14th) that had to be fulfilled. Today there's 40 orders open before mine.

It's getting there! (Northern NJ, btw)

I was the first order at my local AT&T store and I am still looking at a backorder status of 1.

I ordered mine first thing in the morning last Saturday morning. It's still swinging between back ordered and not back ordered. If it doesn't ship today I'm canceling and going to my nearest Apple Store, which is an hour and a half away. Wow this is frustrating, that Apple stores get stock almost every single day, but they won't ship me my ONE phone that I ordered a week ago.

Finally!!

i too stood in line for hours friday morning, and ordered 2 16g black iPhones (one for my hubby's 7/12 bday :( ) at 10 am EST. i've been really disgusted with the way the DF orders are being filled, but they apparently both shipped last night & should arrive this afternoon according to the AT&T tracker (last night they were FRT backordered only), so guess i'm lucky....

FYI, i spent 45 minutes on the phone with an Apple CSR (the first one hung up on me after saying they didn't know the AT&T stores were DFing phones at all), and he called a warehouse person to ask how the orders were being filled. neither could say... but the CSR did say that all the Apple stores got 2000 (yep 2000) phones, but that they were only supposed to sell 800 or so per day. even so, an Apple store on Thursday had received more 16g black iPhones that morning - before the AT&T stores could even fill their DFs.

i can't swear he was telling the truth, but he really was trying to help. can anyone confirm or deny this?

personally, i'm mad at Apple, not AT&T. the people at the AT&T store were clueless but honest about it - one guy even confirmed that they didn't get many phones in and we'd be standing in line to order it, and i was #49 before people ditched. shipping 2000 phones to Apple stores and fewer than 50 to my AT&T store is ludicrous! and they're getting new shipments first too? grrr...

ah, well, just my rant... i'm hopeful the phones will come in today, but will hold my breath until i have them in hand.... :)

good luck everyone!!

Until this morning there was an option 5 for sales than 3 for order status.
Now there is only an option up to 4.

According to the tracking site, all of the orders at my local store from the 11th have been shipped. I guess I should have gone in later that evening after all, but I spent about 4 hours in line at the Apple store to realize there was a discount on my account and couldn't get the phone there.

The 16GB white iPhone I ordered on 7/14 shipped and should be delivered today. But I've been wanting the black one now ever since I saw my brother's white iPhone but there is the possible 21 day wait time for it...I'm torn....

Ordered white 16GB on the 16th in NYC and it shipped last night. Whoohoo, can't wait!!!

I posted this on the other thread...

Well I was one of those 7/11 on line people that missed the cut and had to order from my local ATT Store. I was promised a phone in 5-7 business days.
Started checking online like all of us and was discovering people with orders later than mine were getting their phones. I called ATT and this is key, selected to take the customer survey after the call, spoke to a very nice lady who said she really cold do nothing. I took the survey and gave low marks. 30 minutes later a rep from ATT called. I explained my problems and she gave me her direct line and said she would try to help. Both ATT employees were very nice and did what they could.

After the calls, back to the online order status checking. Low and behold at 11 pm est last night my phone shows shipped and available today! Not 100 percent sure but I have a feeling the 2nd rep that called did help me.

Picking up my 16 gig Black 3G I phone around 3 pm est! Finally............

All that re in the same boat as I was try the customer survey option....

I'm pretty desparate at this point, so I called with the intent of taking the survey and bashing the rep, but she was so helpful I gave her all good marks, so here's the deal....I ordered at 11:45am on Friday (7/11). Still backordered. She checked my status and said, yes you are still backordered, but let me look into this a little more. Then she went into their super status thingy that we all wish we had access to. She said I am showing that you have a low number so yours should ship as soon as we get another shipment from Apple. I said what do you mean by a low number, how many are ahead of me? She said I am showing a -8, so that means you are number 8 in line. I said, is that for the whole country? She said no, it is done on a region basis (I am in the SE region). I asked when they would get a new shipment in from Apple. She said their system says 7/20...which would be Sunday. She said there is a good chance they could get some before then. So basically according to her when my regional center gets another shipment, as long as there are 8 or more phones in that shipment..my should ship. This whole thing is sooooo stupid, but at least that is a little encouraging and sheds a little bit of light on how the system works and what kind of info is available to the reps. According to the order numbers from my store I should be 14th in line just from my store alone. Interesting info, but I guess I am as confused as ever.

unreal...

i can't believe this, but the white 16GB i ordered this past wednesday afternoon is already on a fedex truck for delivery today! thats a total of 48 hours from order to delivery... i was expecting 21 days.

I tried cancelling my DF at my local AT&T store and was told that I could not cancel it until the iPhone was available for pickup. At the point, if I still wanted to cancel the iPhone would be shipped back and then I would be refunded.

Does this make sense to anyone?

I ordered mine on friday at 10 am and it said both backorered all day yesterday and around 1245am last night it was shipped thank god!! Should be here by 3pm today so everyone hang in there it will come very soon!

Ordered mine at 10:30 on Friday and they have shipped around 20 total I believe, and there are about 5 ppl in line in front of me....lookin at Saturday, but not to get my hopes up, probably Monday:(

Can you change your order if you wanted? Or once its in, its in?

I'm pretty sure once you have the info in you can't change it because thet would have to take it off the truck its already on find the truck you want it to go to and then send it there. It would be a pain in the arse to do that.
