so i finally call the at&t main number. and they tell me they recommend that i go to the nearest apple store that there is nothing they can do. what kind of customer service is that? they tried to call the store and were "shocked" that for some reason no one was answering the phone there. this whole situation is ridiculous. the only upside is that i dont currently have a plan with them that im paying for while having no phone.

What do you expect? AT&T can't send you what they don't have on hand. It's not like AT&T are purposely delaying phones. They are shipping the phones as they arrive in their warehouses. In fact it looks like AT&T is working overtime to get shipments out ... I've seen pickups on orders as early as 6AM and as late as 10PM.

I think Apple is more to blame here.

I have been following this post since Tuesday. It has been very therapeutic. I ordered my 16G blk on Friday at 11:55am in Central FL. And no it hasn't been shipped. I have the dark circles to prove it. I been waking up at 3:30am since all this mess has started :(

I started to get nervous because I am transferring three lines. One of them is for my little brother who is here visiting for a wk. So, I went to the AT&T store today to talk about my options if the iphone doesn't arrive before he leaves. Basically, I would have to transfer all of the lines. I would recieve a temp phone and new number. When the iphone arrives I would have to switch numbers again. So, I hope it arrives before next Sunday. Else it will suck to have to switch numbers TWICE!

She also told me that I should receive it before next Sunday. Apparently, Friday's orders are being shipped. But who knows.

I need a vacation after this.

I totally feel your pain, but the problem lies with Apple.

Think about it. Don't you find it interesting that they have a sufficient supply for their stores and AT&T is sinking like a brick?
 
I was the 3rd DF from my store on friday morning; ordered a 16GB blk at 11:10am friday and mine hasn't even shipped yet. :(

How many of you ordered 16GB blacks on friday and haven't had them ship yet?
 
Black 16 ordered Friday July 11, Shipped yesterday at 4:30 PM. It showed back-ordered until I went to sleep at 1130 last night.
This morning at 230 AM I got an email from AT&T stating it has shipped and was provided a tracking number indicating it would arrive at my Cherry Hill AT&T by 3PM. Usually they get the phones early at around 930AM.

Ordered a 16GB White on 7/17. Just shipped today. Expected delivery is tomorrow at noon. Hearing all the horror stories about how long it was taking for AT&T to get iPhones I'm pleasantly surprised!

Needless to say I'm excited!!! :)
 
what do i expect them to do? i expect something beyond try dropping by the apple store. like... we are aware there is a problem, we have talked to apple and are planning x y z etc. or.. we intend on giving x, y, z to our customers who we have let down by promising something we cannot give etc etc. it isnt hard for them to figure out who is likely to be upset (ie first day orders who arent getting anything).

if at&t as a whole said... hey our customers are getting ticked we are supposed to be partners.. then maybe apple would send more. i realize they both get our money either way and my waiting doesnt hurt them any but... ive been super polite, pleasant etc (which believe me is difficult for me) but im sure they have been yelled at etc etc. getting them an answer better than "i dont know" and "try apple" would be nice. as everyone is saying.. if theyd told me this could take 2 weeks then id likely go to apple but what i was told was guaranteed 1 week. fastest way to get one, everyone else is out etc. i live in the ca bay area i could go to atleast 5 different apple stores quite easily (well not when im at work but...). but i was willing to wait a week.

there shoudl be a better answer than we dont know how they are deciding who to mail to. (ie why the guy in line at the store at the same time/right after me apparnetly got his phone same model as me before me and there are still supposedly atleast 18 people in front of me, plus the tons of people who are marked as shipped 1 of 2 phones).
 
I'd hate to rub it in for some of you Friday shippers, but I've been reading a lot of you will have to wait till Monday to receive yours... I'm not sure why, but my iPhone (8GB black) just went shipped with an expected delivery date of tomorrow (Saturday). My AT&T store doesn't close until 8pm, so I'll have mine tomorrow.

Poor communication, bad training, and shipping phones to people (businesses) who ordered later is all ATT.

i ordered it at noon. after waiting 4 hours on the line the two kids in front of me got the last in stock so i was the 1st person to place the order for the 16gb black and it has yet to ship. a friend of mine ordered the 8GB black on Sunday and he got his on Wednesday.

My order has moved from both being backordered to only the freight being backordered. I was told 7-10 business days when I ordered last Saturday so I'm expecting it early next week.
 
I was the 10th DF on the 11th, ordered a 16GB White iPhone, still hasn't shipped. Completely blown away that people are able to just walk in and buy them:mad:

It's my understanding that the phones arrive to ATT with the name of the person on them. i think the orders are sent to Apple and they are deciding who gets them. i checked the availability of the 16G blk in florida yesterday. one out of 14 stores had it. i checked today and 3 stores have them.

What's the deal? I agree with what someone said earlier. Apple is using the iphone as a marketing tool. I can't blame them but this is ridiculous. They want you to go into an Apple store and come out with an iphone, Mac, AppleTV, and etc. Bascially, anything with an Apple logo that isn't nailed down to the floor.

I went to an Apple Store on Sunday and yes they had plenty of iphones. I just went to look. I had never been into an Apple store. Spent $85 on accessories for a phone i don't have. almost spent an additional $100 for a dock with clock but they didn't have it in black. i finally dragged myself away. but i left wanting a MacBook Pro.

You're good Steve Jobs, very good.

They arrive at the ATT store with the customers name on them. Apple isn't involved at that level.
Apple also isn't responsible for the lack of training and lack of communication ATT is having with their own customers.
 
I just checked my bank account.. Did anyone else have there money refunded to them from the AT&T store.. The hold they put on my account isn't on there anymore. I wonder if that means it will be a longer wait..

The same thing happened to me. The initial "charge" isn't really a charge; its a preauthorization that ATT sends to your bank to make sure the money is there. Since they didnt ship very fast, the available balance in my checking account went back to the full amount. But, the day after I picked up the phone at the store, my checking account was debited.

I dont think it has anything to do with the shipping of your order. It'll come.

The money came out of my account right after I ordered, only to appear back in there a few days later....As of about 15 minutes ago it's off of there again...I ordered a week ago. I guess i'm holding out for the hope that this means something, but it probably doesnt.
 
Unless the shipping order is really screwed up and people that ordered a 16GB blk on wednesday are getting their phone before the rest of us, I think my assumption is pretty safe. But at this point it is only that, an assumption.

AT&T's system is definitely screwed up. Folks ordering Wednesday getting phones when phones ordered on launch day still haven't shipped.

What a way to really get your customers upset. Way to go AT&T. Woot!
My order from Saturday morning 7/12 never shipped. I gave up, bought at an Apple store. Glad I don't have to wait for this DF mess any more.

I am near Louisville, Ky and ordered a 16GB Black on Friday 7-11. I was the 4th person to order DF from my att store and mine just shipped today. Several people who ordered after me had theirs delivered earlier this week, however I'm assuming the reason I'm just now getting mine is because it is black. The 16gb black seem to be the most popular.

Not sure why everyone is so upset. I expected the white phones and the 8gb phones to come in sooner.

I was told 4-7 days for my order and will have received it in 6 business days. I'm not going to complain, although I'd be lying if I didn't tell you I've been disappointed to have to wait all week for it!
 
I'm in a smaller college town. I was the second person to order on Saturday, and the 13th person overall to order DF.

ALL the Friday orders have shipped. NONE of the Saturday and beyond. Now I'm kicking myself for not stopping in Friday.
 
I'm outside DC in Alexandria, VA. I ordered one @ the store on Duke St at 9.30am on launch day...i was 20 shy of getting one. I ordered the 16gb white (classic apple!) and paid for the 3-5 day shipping. I called wednesday (day 3) around 12.30pm and they said the box just arrived I'd get a call back if it was there, I received that call and like a giddy school girl sped out of work to get it.

My AT&T sales lady (Lisa) was very nice on launch day, and just as full of energy the day I picked my phone up. She was helpful in the switch to ATT, answering any question (no matter how stupid) and so far I have been very happy with AT&T. I always had issues with Verizon customer service, they always had a slight distaste for the company and it showed in their lack of customer care.

I was afraid they wouldn't give it to me because we couldn't locate our receipt :)eek:)

Well worth the wait.. and the screen is[/I considerably more yellow but after a few minutes I didn't notice it anymore. :D
 
Finaly

Well it has finaly shipped. :D Its would seem I fall in the 7-10 days catagory. I ordered Friday 7/11 and it shiped Friday 7/18 will arrive Monday 7/21; shipped on the 7th day arrives on the 10th lol. This week has felt like a month of waiting and now that i finaly have my tracking number this weekend's antisipation is gonna kill me.

Good Luck to those that havn't had theirs shipped yet, it will come. :apple:

P.S. My Credit card still hasn't had the hold go through :rolleyes: , so dont use that as a heads up if you used a discover card.
