both of my iphones worked as soon as I got out of the at&t store. I guess the stores have an easier time to activate them than at home.

Our guy knows me by my weekly amazon packages, my wife said he normally shows up around 11. Dude was knocking on my door at 8:55

I think they had UPS drivers specifically carrying trucks full of iphones. Mine came at a different time too - different driver. He said he was "lucky to be delivering all of these things today".

i can't even get to the activation screen in itunes now! was told by ATT to sit tight and wait.

Can't activate. :( Tried over the phone, over itunes, over wifi, over cellular connection. Nothing! After all that waiting, I can't even activate.

Was really excited that UPS delivered my phone at 9:30 am, usually don't see them until the afternoon. Frustrated now that after 2 hours I still can't get my phone to activate.

hmm just recieved the 4s and put the old 4's sim in there. It wouldn't activate after a few tries like everyone else . I'm currently going to try to restore in DFU mode to a blank ios 5. Will report in a few minutes:D.
Yeah, that didn't work. Back to hammering continuously thru the activation process.

Getting a new error now "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes."

"Try Again" button appears now...

After a gazillion attempts, I just got a "Try Again" red button that hadn't appeared before, so hopefully that's a sign that I'm closer to being activated!!
(I'm a grandfathered unlimited data user, btw)
I'll wait to hit the "Submit Reply" button until this attempt fails or succeeds......
FAILED.
OK, one more try...

Yeah, before I would fail after entering billing/ssn. Now I can't even get to that step. It's gonna be awhile...

samesies.

Hour and a half

My phone was delivered @ 11AM Eastern. 12:35 now. Tried 20+ times via iTunes and directly through phone. No success.

So can I activate this phone without any sort of internet connection, or via plugging it in?

Can I essentially take it out of the box, turn it on, and activate it? (after waiting an hour/trying 20x)

I realize it's not the "right way" to do it, but are people actually having success swapping their micro sims from their 4's to their new 4S's? If so, are there any known negative side effects that could occur from doing so?

I'm getting beyond frustrated that it took 4 hours last Friday (from 2:45am) to order the damned thing, and now I'm 2 hours in on trying to activate it. If I can just swap my micro sim and restore from a backup with no negative effects I'm all for doing that.

Thanks.

Just checked my iPhone 4 that I am upgrading from, no service. So they stopped the service on one phone but won't activate service on the other one.

well this is frustrating, now isn't it?

was so happy I got the package early, and yet... haven't been able to activate it.

Makes me sad. :(

Now iTunes is timing out connecting to the store.

Maybe a lunch trip to the AT&T store is in order.

AT&T activating through iTunes

Been trying since 12 noon EST. No luck yet. iTunes has given me a variety of pop-ups and notifications. I'm determined to find myself a spot in the server backlog.

on hold on my 4 waiting..

so i'm on hold with applecare on my soon-to-be-deactivated iphone 4 waiting for my 4s to activate...
if the call gets dropped, then the 4s should soon be alive, yeah??

it wouldnt be so bad if i could use some of the features while it activates but nooooooooooooo that makes way to much sense
