This is confusing. If he's really pro-American as he claims, wouldn't he be for privacy? I've been suspecting he's a fall guy for Hillary since I first heard he was running. I bet this fight is fixed.

Considering he's such an advocate of free trade (as his ailing business empire supposedly shows), he sure likes to make statements about standing in the way of private enterprise and their business decisions.

Those dam librals. Bet they woulda let 9/11 happen to. We otta just kick em otta this country, and make America Great Again. If you ever worked hard for somthin in your life, then you know what its like to have it taken away from you. This is America people, Land of the great, home of the free. I won't just sit back and let somethin like this happen when there are hard workin americans fighting for our freedoms, like the NRA. Them California boys are really somethin special, who do they think they are. Something something Ronald Reagan.
What's with the racism and hatred toward southerners?

Doesn't the government use phones for secure information, don't they realize that it would make them vulnerable as well.

They're not smart enough to have made that connection just yet. It'll dawn on them about 60 seconds after the first major data breach that was allowed by the 'back door'.

And to think that the Republican Party once stood for protecting the freedoms and security of the American People above all, at any cost. The party that gave us Abraham Lincoln, abolished slavery and gave women the right to vote is now a bunch of greedy, backward-thinking douchebags who can only muster up a sleazeball real estate billionaire, an inhumane creepy evangelical Canadian and a party-policy quoting robot as their top three candidates. As much as I dislike the overtly leftist movement in this country as of late, I have to say the Republican policies are far worse and inherently destructive to the future of our nation. It's high time the people of the USA drag the sick old elephant out to pasture and shoot it in the head. ...And I think they would, if only there was a true alternative presenting itself.

For a man with so much money, who thought he'd be such a media harlot?

This is nothing more than just backing any ideal that even remotely sides with the conservative movement, in order to gather votes, and thinking absolutely zero of the big picture / details of the situation.

Edit: Before I get roasted...in this case the conservative movement part would be blindly backing law enforcement despite the consequences of the actions.

Too funny. Who knows what he really believes in but, he is doing this to get media exposure before the SC primary.

The other day,he held a surprise press conference and all the major media outlets came. He gave his usual campaign speech and answered questions. When finally asked why he held a surprise press conference, he replied that it was to protest the closing of Gitmo. Like him or hate him, most people would agree that he's an expert at manipulating the media.

That's such a sad phrase.

It is an indication of bothered people are by our current direction. People want a team USA candidate that looks out for our citizens first. That is Trumps platform. Make America great again. We see how kids are being common core'd with the ideology that the USA is the root of all evils and strife in the world and our politicians constantly blame the USA. People are tired of that. Tired of the apology tours. Tired of people breaking our immigration laws, invading our country and then demanding they not be referred to as illegals and we see the democrats taking every side possible with illegal immigrants, were at our bursting point. As oddball as Trump is, by supporting and showing his love for a great and powerful USA, he is setting himself apart from the other candidates and resonating with the citizens.

Trump listens to one person. Trump.
Reality is he has a very impressive group of advisers like any other person of wealth and position has in their career. Do some investigation and you will find a very loose group of libertarians, old school GOP and even Blue Dogs behind this guy.

Rand Paul.

This is mind boggling.

You could go even further, 480,000 cigarette related deaths each year, 33,000 traffic related deaths per year, 88,000 alcohol related deaths each year - all stats come from the CDC. So should we be more worried about terrorism, or should we be trying to reduce those deaths that we can actually control?

I already know the answer - no one wants to have personal responsibility and it's easier to think about some nut job blowing you up, than it is to stop doing things we know are bad for us. It's a sad state of where we have come - so when Trump talks about making America great again, I'm just not sure exactly what he's talking about.

I think we need to spend significantly greater amounts on education, because it's pretty clear this country has a lot of ignorant, under-educated, people. But instead, let's give education money to the military and homeland "defense" groups, so we can save 15 people a year...

Trump listens to one person. Trump.
You don't create an organization like his by pissing everyone off and only listening to yourself. He grew up building. He had to make deals with people and hire top people to help him build buildings. For example, in the 80's he built the Wollman Rink in NYC. He never built a skating rink before so he searched in Canada for the top company that makes ice rinks. He hired them to do the work. NYC spent millions trying to get that rink done and after 6 years they gave it to Trump. He built it in less than a year and like $600K under budget. The point is he listens to people who know their stuff in their fields and hires professionals to advise him. I think Tim Cook and the rest of Silicon Valley can make him come around on data security.

Ignorant people.

If due process of law is followed, and the owner is convicted of a crime (felony), the phone should be like a room/house which can be breached for the purposes of evidence or security ALONE.

Due process is the key word, and that is common sense.

This is mind boggling.

When you look at the numbers, terrorism is a small minor thing. Hammers and bathrooms kill more people in the US than terrorists.

Why is the government doing so much in the name of fighting terrorism? Seems like our freedoms are taking a big hit for this.
