Well, not "completely" if you got the auto-dimming rearview mirror option, that was made in the US.

Well, there's an update up there now that says the G5 product manager said "DP G5's will ship by the end of August." As far as shipping dates go, the end of August is tomorrow. I better see a bunch of "MY G5 SHIPPED!!!" posts on here tomorrow (hopefully one by me included :)).

Uh, NO!

"end of August" would be TOMORROW, Friday the 28th (no corporate shipments on Saturday.)

C'mon, dummies. "End of August" REFERS TO THOSE THAT ALREADY SHIPPED.

The Duals will go to non-select customers at the promised time--late september.

Macrumors used to be halfway decent...

Yeah, fair enough. It's bad practice in a way, bout it's probably our fault for being so desperate. In another environment, we could always turn to a competitor, after all...

But things like the iPhoto services are much harder to forgive. It's not like they've not had time now.

The trick is to show willing, as Apple seem to be with the G5 (domestic education first ,everyone else next) and not contempt (european iPod noise limiting - simply a crass cost cutting measure failing to take into account that france is a different country - and iPhoto services etc.)

This is business and nothing about it is fair. As others have posted, other products get released elsewhere first; that's life.

Damn Canadiens always complaining. You get stuff before we do, right?

I mean like Celine Dion songs or Corel software. :D

actually, 'dummy' (no need for name calling on the forum), apple specifically stated in their press release, and i quote:

August 18th: "“The Power Mac G5 is a big hit with customers and developers,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “The two single processor Power Mac G5 models are available now, so we wanted to get those into customers hands as soon as possible, and we’re right on track to deliver the dual 2.0 GHz Power Mac G5 later this month.”"
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2003/aug/18pmg5.html

Also, check this out (reported by MacRumors):

Confirmed, Power Mac G5 Dual 2 GHz Models Ship End of August: On Your Mac Life last night, Apple G5 product manager Todd Benjamin stated that the Dual 2-GHz Power Mac G5s are still on track to ship by the end of August. We can't wait to get ours!

So I highly suggest that before you start calling any of us 'dummies', or bashing MacRumors, arguably the internet's best and most accurate rumor site, why don't you do your research, or just stay off the forums.

those who have ship dates of 8/29 WILL SHIP TOMORROW, barring some completely unforseen circumstance. follow the link above, that's direct from apple, recent through last night. those of us who got overnite shipping still may not get them until next week, but hey... they're shipping!

Friday is the 29th.

Anyway, I spoke to them on the phone to try to change to Priority Overnight (just because someone on here said they'd gotten that change) and I was told that it was impossible for my shipping to be changed because it was in the queue to ship tomorrow.

Anybody unemployed in Sacramento who can camp out outside the Apple warehouse and count trucks?

It's worth reminding everyone who says they WILL SHIP TOMORROW that these dates are estimated (not guaranteed) and that they have been known to change them on the day in some instances. Until you have a tracking number, don't get too attached to the date. That said, the optimism about meeting the date among the phone reps is apparently boundless.

Just kidding.

Before you start calling people dumb you should check your dates. TOMORROW, Friday the 29th, is a corporate shipment date.
I have no idea if they'll make the date but I think they chose the last Friday in August for a reason. Here's to dreams of a very busy shipping department at Apple tomorrow.

it's cool, I'm not too worried, I was mostly just curious if that was a shipping option. :D

Actually I didn't get to ask that question because they shut me down at the point of me mentioning changing my shipping.

Here's an Idea

Why don't they just shut the call center down and send all those sales/support people to the back to stuff boxes.

OMG

This is the biz - even if a company has a target to meet a shipment requirement, there is always some wrench in the cog of punctuality that causes a delay. It seems most haven't been in the business world or bought a 17" Powerbook, but businesses always have targeted goals and miss. Nothing is perfect in this world. I mean, I bought an iPod from Dell.com and was delayed twice from my anticipated ship date (of course apple was probably yanking Dell's procurement managers chain ;) ). I think in the future, steve should mention we are "targeting to ship these", not "we will ship these". But I can understand the fury some have. I mean the machine is too sweet. Take some xanax and enjoy the Labor Day. And ponder this question, "Why is it called labor day when most aren't laboring?" Discuss....

My 1.8 is on it's way!

I completely freaked out for a couple of minutes when I checked and saw that my 1.8GHz order had suddenly changed to SHIPPED! It's coming FedEx standard overnight so I should see it Friday (hope hope hope :D)!

I had an 8/29 ship date. Ordered the day of the announcement. I thought I had put at least overnight shipping in the order - but the status was showing 'Bestway' and no shipping charge. I called just now and changed it to Standard Overnight - in regards to 'Priority Overnight' she said "unfortunately, that's not really an option'' - I was not in a mood to say ''but somebody on a forum said theirs is set up for that''.

Obviously, I'm in a slightly anxious state waiting for it, but at the same time - I need to get over that! It's just a computer... right?

Edited to show that my ship date is now 9/26 - I'm assuming that the person I spoke to just didn't know that it was too late to change the shipping method, and by doing so - she booted me out of line! I called back and happened to speak to the same person (lucky me) - and she insists that my changing the shipping had absolutely nothing to do with the 2-4 week delay. I don't believe it.

Update - Again - Another poster at Apple forums reports a delay to 9/26.

Just in time delay

My date just jumped to the end of September, and I didn't change shipping.
All over the world, one month delays arebeing slipped into order status. And in the morning we will here wailing and great sorrow

**** Apple, they suck. My G5 was set to ship on 8/29 via ground, so I call to upgrade to overnight shipping. Well, magically, my order is set to ship on 9/26. Apple ****ing blows, but at least I have my overnight shipping, huh.

Believe it - they pushed my order back, too. Ordered on 6/23, CTO, scheduled (until last night) to ship 8/29, now set to ship 9/26.

What the hell is wrong with these people. My first direct from apple experience is a miserable one, no doubt.

I just checked and luckily it still shows my 10/02/03 shipping date as being good so at this point I'm not to worried about having my shipping date missed :)

Dual G5 ship date news

Just wanted to let you know that within the last couple hours, Apple has changed my ship date for my dual G5 from 8/29 (tomorrow) to 9/26!!! Almost a month delay. This was ordered first day, 6/23, and I am an education customer. 10:15 EDT 8/28/03 I discovered this by checking my online order status. Have not yet had confirmation (or any communication) from Apple directly yet.

Mine has slipped also

9/26 Now......

This is bad business. They had to know prior to 1/2 and hour ago that they were going to miss date. Keeping us in the dark is basically a very rude way of running a company.
I must seriously consider canceling my order until things simmer down a little. This would be my first personal Mac. So I don't know what I'm missing anyway. My problem is that I'm already sitting on an FCP 4.0 package that I was itching to play with.

BAH HUMBUG!

I just feel sick. Its just a computer, I know, but I can't remember ever feeling this let down.

I also ordered through education and had a date for 8/29.

Boy, I can just imagine the trolls warming up for tomorrow... :(
