Oh man, if the Giants weren't owning the Ravens right now....I agree, if I wasn't sitting on a bunch of hardware and software in anticipation of this machine, I'd be itching to cancel...But alas, there aren't really any other options...Maybe buy through a reseller? But what the hell good would that do...

Mine just updated too, 9/26. Did any ship at all?
Right now I'm kinda hoping the estimated ship date thing is automated and it if the shipping system doesn't send a ship notification by a certain time it bumps up the date. It could still ship tomorrow, at least I hope.

Gee, I hope you're right about that. Didn't that guy from Apple JUST say that duals were still going to ship this month? I'm sorta ready to cancel my order if it slips another month.

I got off the phone with a supervisor at Apple who said that most of the dps were pushed back. The supervisor assured me that they would call me back tomorrow with an explanation and gave me their name and extension just in case they fall victim to the corporate motto, "screw the customer." As someone in #mt said this evening, "they should just put on the front page of apple.com we ****ed up AGAIN, but you'll still buy from us HAHAHAHA "

LIAR, LIAR

And I quote from their website:
Under the question: When will I receive my order?

Although every effort is made to ship your order according to the lead time provided, shipping dates may change due to changes in supply. If the lead time changes, Apple will contact you via email or telephone and provide a revised shipping estimate.

My phone hasn't rang and I don't have an email explaining the situation..... I feel this is pure disregard for the customer.

That extra month is going to give me time to research the Athlon 64. I really love Mac, I don't want to be screwed with.

Well...my order still says 9/2. The auction on my iMac is over, and it's going bye-bye once I get the money order. I'd like to have a computer to replace it...SOON.

I went to the Apple forums and people are bitching up a storm about the changed ship dates. Looks like it's happening to everybody.

well, i go to ohio state, and classes don't start till the 24th, so i was pumped that i was starting late enough for it to get shipped to me and so i could set it up and everything... i am almost too teed to type right now. like my hands are shaking... this is unbelieveable. i ordered the system with the EDU discount, day of the keynote, and now i don't have it.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

and worst off, they won't let you cancel a BTO order. so i can't cancel it and order a powerbook. damn all of this.

3-22

Well mine still says 9/2, I guess I'll see what the weekend brings. Pretty lame, to wait until the last day to push out the dates. Thing that sucks, is they sent my cinema display and ipod before the G5. Now I have a LCD and iPod loosing months on there warranty with no computer. (yeah, i tried to fix the order for it all to ship at the same time but it already shipped.)

No Cancel??

What do you mean. You can't cancel it?

If they don't let me cancel I will call my credit card company and have them cancel it. I know they can handle it if I file a complaint.

I'm getting more ticked off the more I think about it. The stupid mad face isn't mad enough.... :SCREAM:

I have my 23" hd cd sitting in my living room too...I haven't activated the APP yet though...

c*&%suckers they got me too... 9/26 If Mr. Jobs got up in front of the world and announced they would be shipping the worlds fastest personal computer in August then that f*%&ing worm should get up now and say in front of the world why they are not going to do that...there should be at least a personal letter on the Apple web from Steve-o explaiing the delay...remember on or before 26 September could be tomorrow too but you remember what happenend to the last ship date....

Here's the cancel policy on custom config

And I quote:

CUSTOM-CONFIGURED PRODUCT
We are pleased to offer product that is custom-configured to your specifications, and we encourage you to review your order carefully. Since the product is built to your specifications, the order cannot be changed, modified, or canceled once your order is in production.

I would have to say something that is a month away is not in production yet.

Apparently this happened with the 1.6 and 1.8s too and they still shipped...*Fingers crossed* today (8/28) is my birthday after all...someone could smile on me:)

Strange...

Now people are reporting there dates going back, maybe they are doing some system changes. Who knows... (except for some guy in a warehouse)

My ship date flopped back to 8/29???????????
Dual 2.0
Bluetooth 9800
First one ordered from an Apple store in NJ...
This should be an interesting evening...

When I spoke to them just after mine changed she said that I will probably get an email. She also thought the delay made them legally obligated to get a 're-confirmation' that you agree to accept the delay and that you still want the item. -
If she was correct - this would hit many people the same way. Meaning that you'll get a email stating that 'if you still want this, we need you to call and tell us'. I indicated my 'confirmation' that I was willing to accept "a 2-4 week delay".

what makes me so mad about this, is that i couldn't even cancel and order a powerbook if i wanted to, because i'm not going to order an obsolete machine (it will be in 2 weeks). this is such crap, i hate this. yeah, whatever, i'm sure 65% of the people here could care less if i get mine or not because what does a college kid need a dual for, but this is my machine for school, and like a lot of people, i sold my old machine to finance this one. this is crappy beyond words, and it ticks me off beyond belief that they were so shady about this. how, you ask? 1) they post the update just as the call centers close. 2) they don't even have the decency to send an email out, which they said they would do as soon as anything changed, and 3) doing it at the close of the buisness day the day before the shipping date? i agree that there is no 'smilie' to express the rage i have inside of me. at least i have my model girlfriend next to me in a schoolgirl outfit. i am the ultimate computer geek, my friends. good luck.

Who knows what could happen tomorrow? Here's what I anticipate: All orders for DP G5's ship, and we get a "...by the way, now available: 15" PowerBook G5's" from Steve!

It could happen!

Stop looking at me like that
